Grand Illusions decorated my wedding reception and they did a great job. Everyone said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been too. Thank you for making my wedding dreams come true.
From the beginning things just did not seem right . This started out very overpriced, so we decided on a smaller contract, which he required be paid in full two weeks before the event. After speaking with Terry, the owner, throughout the entire planning time; we later find out that his son did all the decorating. When we called to let him know that parts of it were not what we had agreed to in the contract. He did come and fix what was wrong before the event, however on the day of the wedding, the drapery was again falling and almost on the floor. Our wedding florist, who was decorating for the reception that day, later informed us that she had to use ladders to fix what Grand Illusions had done because things had fallen and looked very sloppy, almost like the party was over. When informing Terry of the fixed work, he continually repeated that we would not be getting any money back unless the florist took photos of the work that she had to fix.
I have living in the area all my life, so I wanted to have my wedding at a traditional old reception area. Grand Illusions helped me turn traditional to special. The way they decorated made the day "ours" but allowed tradition to shine through!
They were able to decorate on thursday and everything looked just like i had wanted if not better. With my location it took longer but they stayed til everything was complete. They also were there at the end of the dance to take everything down.
I am still getting compliments on how great our reception looked and how surprised people were that we could change a gymnasium into a pretty reception hall. That is all thanks to Terry at Grand Illusions.
He hung fabric from the ceiling to hide our unwanted basketball hoops and made the most gorgeous backdrops for our head table and cake table. His staff were all friendly and polite and they came back at midnight to take it all down!
Terry owns the company on his own and at times email can be tricky but if you call him he will always get back to you.
Terry is amazing to work with. He was good at coming up with ideas for our burlap and lace-themed reception. He met with us twice before the wedding to ensure that he had everything that we wanted. His team was great at setting up everything very efficiently at the reception hall and was on time to tear down to decorations when the reception was over.
Great ideas and service!
Working with Terry Cossel was wonderful. He is truly a master at his craft. The decor really made it an elegant affair. The uplighting was amazing. He even made a design that allowed us to have our name in lights. The room was beautiful and made our wedding very unique. He even found cloth napkins in the exact coral that I wanted. The only thing minor issue was the stage we had our ceremony was shaky and that took some getting used to. Other than that everything was wonderful!
I was very very disappointed in Terry!!
First of all he wanted to meet at McDonald's. I should of known from the beginning that this was a bad idea. I think he needs to be more professional on where he meets people. As the day got closer we were a little worried that we haven't heard from him so we asked to meet with him again so we were on the same page. He insisted that there is no reason for us to meet, we can instead just talk on the phone. First of all he talks WAY to fast and mumbly that you can barely catch what he's saying and he often says some rude "jokes". We ended up talking with him on the phone and discussed exactly what we wanted, I felt a little better about the situation. The week of, he contacts me and says that he decided to book another wedding the same day so he asked me to see if I could pay for another day at our reception in order for him to come a day earlier. I was in SHOCK that I already booked with him but since he booked another girl, that I HAD TO PAY ANOTHER DAY. I refused. He ended up paying for the day (which was nice, but not necessary as I already booked with him). The day he came to decorate, it all started at the church. He didn't bring any ladders. He was short some chair covers. And as he was setting up, he used our nice church chairs TO STAND ON! You just don't treat somebody else's property like that. When he was finished with the church, it all didn't look right. I could of swore we asked for something else, but he insisted that this is what I told him to do. So I went with it for the time being. Then we went to the Reception Hall to decorate and as he is decorating, again I told him this is not what we had asked for. He again said no this is what you asked for. At that point I was very upset that we spent all of this money on him. Later on I checked my notes and everything was wrong! We called and complained and he "found his notes" and said he would come fix it all. Thank god! Overall, he was very stressful!
Terry did an amazing job decorating the ballroom our reception was held in! The decorations really made the ballroom look like a wedding fairy tale. It was breath taking! The only thing I would recommend is that if you have swags coming from the ceiling hanging down, ask that something be placed at the bottom to child proof them.
Exactly what we wanted and envisioned!
Terry is a great guy to work with, just tells you how it is, if you say you don't want something he doesn't push it, just works with your budget to make your venue look AMAZING.
VERY DISAPPOINTED! I selected a picture of a setting Terry had done for a previous wedding and also asking for a ceiling to floor silk backdrop for the alter area in the ceremony room. Not only was the backdrop a foot short, the room didn’t look anything like the picture I had requested. As a matter of fact, he had hung silk from the ceiling in such a way that it created a wall that wouldn’t let half of my guests see us during most of the wedding. When my sister told him this wasn’t what I asked for, he told her he had discussed the “new” design with me and I had agreed. That was a lie, and the “new” design was horrible! Thank God for my Sister and the Marriott who came up with a solution. For the money Terry charges for his services, we should not have had to fix anything.
The chair covers and uplighting in the reception area were nice, but I would never recommend Terry.
My wedding looked like something on TV due to the services they provided. They did an awesome job with pink lighting and the chair covers.
