A BALLROOM IN TRAVERSE CITY, MI

About Us

Hagerty Conference Center in Traverse City, Michigan, is located on the Great Lakes Campus of Northwestern Michigan College. Since the facility hosts just one event at a time, to-be-weds find it an ideal location for their special day. This state-of-the-art venue also sits on the waterfront, providing the views about which you've always dreamed. There are indoor and outdoor spaces to take advantage of, which are listed below for your consideration.

The Ballroom. The main event space within Hagerty Conference Center is the Ballroom. It measures 5,810 square feet and can accommodate as many as 300 of your closest friends and relatives for a reception. The room may also be divided into three smaller spaces for a more intimate affair. Since the room is neutral in color, couples won't have any trouble transforming it to fit their theme or color scheme.

The Courtyard. When it comes to the ceremony, the bride and groom love the outdoor Courtyard. A decorative arch can be erected for the couple to say their vows under while a total of 110 guests watch. The Grand Traverse Bay provides the ideal backdrop to this space, as well as a chance to take stunning photos. Should you wish to invite more than 110, you need to rent a canopy.

Rotary Hall. When bad weather threatens your outdoor event, the staff moves the wedding ceremony into Rotary Hall. There are floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides of the room and 110 people fit comfortably in the space. The hall is also neutral in color to make decorating a cinch.

What You Should Know

With each rental comes use of the facility until midnight with all food and entertainment ceasing 30 minutes prior to that. When choosing to serve alcohol to more than 100 guests, the bride and groom need to pay a fee to have a security officer present for the duration of the reception. Bartenders are supplied to serve the liquor, which is included with the room rental. Couples are welcome to decorate the ceremony and reception sites as long as they do not use any nails, staples or tape. Confetti and glitter are prohibited and all flyers or signs for the event must be first approved by the manager.

A tasting is held each year for brides and grooms and up to four guests of their choosing. This is the opportunity couples need to narrow down the available hors d'oeuvre and entree choices to just those they want on their reception menu. With the catering package comes the use of six-foot round dinner tables, eight cocktail tables, all the necessary chairs and standard white or ivory linens. Also included are colored napkins, the tableware and choice of 13-inch beveled mirror tiles or votive candles as the centerpiece. Wedding cakes may be purchased by a licensed bakery and then brought to the on-site servers who cut it and pass it out among your guests at no additional cost.

Extra Perks

Another perk is the nearby resorts, which just happen to be within walking distance of the center, which means out-of-town guests won't have any trouble locating a place to stay that is convenient to your ceremony and reception. The food was INCREDIBLE. The planning process was incredibly smooth and easy to work through. It was a great price for an AMAZING venue with lots of room for our guests to roam. The only issue was the staff for the night seeming a little under-prepared and eager to leave early.... Read More This has been addressed and should no longer be an issue!

The Hagerty Center was a breeze to work with, super accommodating, and helped us pull off a fantastic wedding and reception. The food = amazing. We couldn't be happier with our experience. We worked primarily with Carla - she was always quick to respond to calls and e-mail,... Read More and always very helpful. We didn't always have tons of contact, but when we reached out to her we never felt like she found us to be a burden or something like that. We found the pricing to be very competitive for the quality of food and the setting. It should also be noted that they were willing to get whatever we wanted booze-wise, and as long as it was something they could use at future events. Hard alcohol is charged by the 10th of a bottle, so you don't get stuck paying for a whole bottle when it's only opened to make one drink. I'll admit, it did feel a little dicey not having a set price per person for booze (since they charge for what you drink, not a flat per-head charge), but it worked out perfectly, and our party actually drank less than the center's pre-event estimate, which meant less money out of our pocket.

A foodie must!
