I’m 5 weeks out from my wedding, I booked Happenstance in Jan. 2023 for my event in Oct. of 2023. I paid my 50% deposit for a custom package at the time. I began trying to reach out and communicate with Happenstance as the date was nearing and ...
I wanted to change my package if able in July, I received no contact after numerous messages and call attempts were made. August 15th I received a message from Happenstance after 8 months of silence informing me that they had recently discovered they double booked weddings and would have to outsource my services to another company - the other couple had given the wrong wedding date when booking (instead of them booking Oct 2023 they booked for Oct 2024). I informed Happenstance that since the other couple incorrectly booked it shouldn’t be me who paid the price. I was informed that because they booked and paid their deposit before me (even if it was for a different date) that it would be my wedding they would not be servicing. I proceeded to ask for a refund on my deposit and was told the deposit was non refundable and to avoid loosing my deposit I should stay under contract with them and allow them to outsource the service. Since that day I’ve been reaching out via email, phone, social media platform and it’s been dead silence. It’s been almost 2 weeks and I can’t get any contact from them. I think the way this situation is being handled is totally incorrect and unprofessional. I am currently 5 weeks away from my wedding and have no confirmed photographer for my event, this is very disappointing. After leaving this honest review about my experience the owner (wife) blocked me on social media, emailed me within hours of the review saying because I left it they would be dissolving my contract and refused to return my deposit of $375. She stated that I did not allow them time to communicate with me after waiting almost 2 weeks for a response. However she was able to respond within hours of the review being left. Weddings are expensive and refusing to give me my deposit back because of a bad review and cancelled on me 5 weeks before my wedding is terrible service.
