Thank you to Lindsey at Hotel Indigo-Hershey. She was amazing to work with through this wedding planning process and for working with us in regards to our room block and COVID protocols.
The hotel was beautiful and clean, and even though the restaurant and bar remained closed, the lobby and pool area were still able to be utilized for relaxation. Thank you!!
I’m rating this hotel a 3 due to lack of staff. I was recently there for my wedding weekend with my family on 11/9/19 and both my mom and sisters room was extremely cold and no manager on board to assist with the issue . Having my mom at 85 years of age to switch her room at 1130pm to another cold room. The front desk agent tried to assist in this matter but it result to my mom staying in her room and myself working on there heating system.. My room very nice and I was able to take nice pictures on my wedding day
We were a part of a close friends wedding party and Hotel Indigo not only breached their contract, ruined their wedding night, called the police on the father of the groom after disputing the contract breach with the manager, but they also treated our party horribly.
The manager, who confidently gave her name as Rosa, presumably couldn't handle the debate over the contract and decided it was a good idea to call the police after the father of the groom was reasonably upset (but still civil) after multiple very important arrangements were seemingly totally disregarded by management. These things included the shuttle arrangements and bar service hours being drastically cut short from what was contracted for the wedding party.
Rosa seemed a bit too pleased with herself for calling the police and subsequently kicking out the father and mother of the groom. Needless to say, everyone else in our party who had booked a room there refused to stay. For those wedding guests who stayed at the hotel (since the bride and groom had reserved a block for their guests) and did not witness the events related to us the next morning that the staff were very rude and dismissive of them all the following morning.
I dont think that it's reasonable behavior for a hotel to not only call the police and kick out a guest just because they are disputing their agreement (without a raised voice or anything, mind you) but to do so to the father of the groom on the groom's wedding day in front of all of the wedding party.
I would discourage anyone from staying at this place and ESPECIALLY from hosting any event.
Do not use this hotel for your wedding block! The staff was unorganized and unapologetic. There were several issues so I will list them.
- The link to the room block didn’t work and the sales manager I was working with just kept telling me that she spoke to IT and they said nothing was wrong. Eventually it magically started working but for a while I had to have my guests call.
- Once the link was working it was not requiring a credit card. I later learned that those without credit cards updated would have their rooms cancelled 48 hours before check in if there was no credit card on file. I had to reach out several times to the sales manager (who is no longer working there) to have her contact those with missing card numbers so that the rooms would not get cancelled. Luckily, none were cancelled.
- They gave my brother someone else’s room. He checked in and walked into the room they gave him with his wife and three kids to find someone else’s things all over the room. They corrected this, but really?
- I arranged with the Manager Kiki to have welcome backs placed in each room. This did not happen and when I spoke to the front desk they informed me that they knew nothing about welcome bags, after they themselves took them from me and placed them in their storage closet. They then advised they would deliver them to the guests that had already checked in and then hand them out to the rest of the guests as they checked in. I come to find out after the wedding from some of our wedding party that they never received a bag. This may seem like a small thing but trust me, when you spend time and money putting together cute Brooklyn themed welcome bags for 25 rooms that include a printed timeline of events, it matters to you as a bride.
- We hired a sitter since we had an adult reception, so part of our contract included a conference room so the kids would have some space. I confirmed this with Kiki more than once. When the sitter arrived the conference room was full things as it was being used as storage. Luckily there was a second space on the second floor that they were able to use.
- The hotel handed over a key to my brother’s room to the sitter to take the kids up to their room and get ready for bed. This was not part of our plan and it was not discussed with the parents. This turned out okay but it was unsettling to hear that the hotel freely handed over keys to someone other than the person staying in the room.
The only positives would be that the hotel was clean, and the restaurant Manager who arranged dinner for the kids as well as our farewell brunch the following day was very helpful and organized.
My wedding was perfect in every way aside fro this hotel…there are many other options in the area so you should use one of them.
