Really nice hotel, but not sure if it's worth the headaches...Reviewed on 10/14/2015 Monica L
Every time I corresponded with the event team at the Hyatt in the year leading up to my wedding, all I could think is "what a joke." The event staff is so unorganized and generally unresponsive (I felt like a stalker half the time). The process for our room block was utterly painful due to their lack of assistance. Amanda, when responsive, was somewhat helpful in switching some room quantities around, but one request I had just a few weeks before the wedding was completely ignored by every single person there despite the multiple follow-ups. We stayed in the Presidential suite and also used it for all the bridesmaids to get ready on our wedding day. It was beautiful and perfect for that (very spacious), but not cheap! When our guests started checking in, I noticed that the front desk staff wasn't handing out our welcome bags which pretty much infuriated me. Then, one of my bridesmaids had trouble checking in because they couldn't find her Friday night reservation (but somehow had her Saturday night one recorded - even though it was the same reservation). We heard similar stories from other guests who all said the same thing - nice hotel, but awful service/management. We also had a brunch on the Sunday following our wedding, which we booked almost a year in advance (though the event staff I'd been coordinating the block with seemed to have no clue about the brunch until I reminded them a few weeks before). We gave them our guest count, and they showed my mom the room the day prior - and it was WAY too small. "Oh yeah - this won't fit that many people" they said once my mom reminded them of the number. What?! Then why would you have planned to use a room that's too small?! Luckily they were able to switch the room in time. All in all, the hotel is super modern and really nice, but they have no clue how to properly manage their hotel blocks and event capabilities. Book at your own risk....
We reserved a large block of rooms for our wedding at The Hyatt Regency. While the hotel is beautiful and everything was great with our stay that weekend, there were a lot of administrative issues the year prior that caused us some stress. Our sales representatives were all very attentive and helpful, thank goodness, but we kept getting conflicting information at the beginning. Someone told us one thing, which would differ from what someone else said, and it was difficult to get it straightened out. Also, our sales rep changed four times during that year, and we were never told, so I would be emailing someone that was no longer at the hotel wondering why I wasn’t getting an answer. The hotel booking site frequently had different information than what I had in my own records based on the contract. There were also issues when we tried to book the breakfast because they tried to change the contract 2 months after we signed it, over something extremely trivial. Just a lot of things that did not add up to good customer service. If you book here for a large event, just make sure you stay on top of things and be prepared for some headaches along the way.
