Featuring technology brand new to the wedding industry, this premiere venue sits inside the renovated Connolly Shoe Factory originally built at the turn of the twentieth century. The exposed brick walls in their expansive and customizable banquet room, adds a touch of stylish and modern elegance. JX Event Venue is also one of the largest spaces available for weddings in Minnesota, making it a highly sought out space for lavish celebrations.
Main Room. The Main Room at JX accommodates as many as 500 seated guests or 720 for a cocktail reception. The room itself was built with extravagant events in mind, featuring a built-in bar, lockable VIP room, hardwood floors, stunning chandeliers and adjustable lighting. The room also features fireplaces, water elements, a dynamic photo booth option and a variety of dining and seating arrangements with classical Chiavari chairs. A stage for bands and DJs can also be rented by the couple. The "X" in the title recognizes the flexibility of this space, since the professional event coordinators encourage couples to use the space for a range of designs and purposes. This room is a fully-equipped blank slate for stylish couples and guests.
What You Should Know
There are several packages available at the JX Event Venue, including the very popular à la carte option to fully personalize an event to any budget. The most lavish package includes full use of the space for twelve hours with vendor and wedding planning throughout the wedding process, a honeymoon suite for two nights, a photography package with engagement session and hair and makeup for up to 10 people. This incredible contract also includes a generous credit for decoration consultation, shuttle service and a Thursday rehearsal. Each package, depending on the level, also includes up to 150 parking spots in the adjoining garage.
JX Event Venue has taken the leg work out of finding a proper caterer by gathering six of the finest culinary specialists in the Twin Cities region. A cash bar or BYOB option is available at the venue. Three bartenders and accouterments are included. Preferred vendors for this option are also available.
This brand new space, with its grand opening occurring on July 16, 2016, will be sure to wow couples and guests alike. Built in 1905, the Connolly Shoe Factory was renovated in 2016 to become one of the largest event venues in Minnesota capable of hosting up to 720 guests or smaller groups. Located in beautiful and historic downtown Stillwater, this historic building includes a full service salon, studio, and secret speakeasy. Purposely ambiguous, the name “JX” will be defined by the first class events held within our exposed brick walls. Clients will have access to an unparalleled multimedia experience, optical illusion photo booth and a state of the art sound system. We have created a dynamic event space, bursting with modern luxuries, while still celebrating the historic charm of the building. Our April 29th wedding reception at JX Event Venue was beyond perfect. We received so many comments on how beautiful the space was. They did an absolutely wonderful job renovating the building combining modern technology while keeping the beautiful historic charm. The exposed brick and beams were stunning, especially when you add in the cafe lights and chandeliers. We worked with Janelle who was so incredibly helpful and pleasant to work with and all the staff we encountered the day of, from the bar staff to the wonderful doorman (who was kind enough to keep an eye on my grandma when she'd go outside!) were nothing short of professional and welcoming. The amount of space is amazing and never felt too crowded (plenty of space between tables!) or too empty! The built in photo booth was a HUGE hit, with many people saying they were so excited the room was big to fit a lot of people and receiving all the photos afterwards is a great touch as well. The Bridal Suite and Bourbon Room are incredibly fun and spacious spots to hang out and get ready in, and it was so nice to have a secure spot throughout the day. Having the option to use the gorgeous wood farm tables was great and made our head table feel warm and homey and looked beautiful. It was all so wonderful and I am so happy we celebrated our special day here!!

We were beyond blessed to have our wedding on NYE 2016. The venue is absolutely stunning but the staff is really what brought our dream wedding to life! From the planning meetings, constant communication and absolute professionalism...we were blown away. Annie (Our amazing wedding planner) is world class.
I recently photographed a reception for one of my couples at JX Event Venue and was so impressed by the space! I've been watching it's progress as it was being built and attended functions put on by the owner but to be able to work in this space was outstanding! The attention to detail, the hospitality, the space itself.... it was truly a joy! Having shot in many other venues, what stands out to me is the consistent look and feel and relaxed atmosphere of the space with a very sophisticated and clean look. There are many areas for private conversation and guests to mingle and stay entertained, from the bar, dining area, grand staircase, entry, to the fireplace and couch areas - and that doesn't include the spectacular bridal suite and grooms space! Just a treat! I cannot wait to work with my next JX Event Venue couple!
We had our wedding reception at JX on October 8th, 2016 and it was nothing short of amazing! The location, atmosphere, artsy details, historic charm and new glam is what I had searched for when planning our reception, and JX has all of that to offer! This venue was incredible from the very first meeting! I couldn't believe that my wedding/reception could be this easy and this much fun to plan! I absolutely loved working with Annie and her positive attitude, organization, and professionalism with vendors. The building is beautiful and very accommodating! My husband and I got married at JX on October 7th, and we could not be more pleased with our venue choice. JX was PERFECT for our vintage/rustic luxe wedding theme. The atmosphere felt romantic, modern, elegant, luxurious, enchanting, and charming all at once. We LOVED the wood floors, windows, open concept, exposed brick walls and rafters, stunning chandeliers, ivory chiavari chairs.. to name a few! Everything was exceptional! Not to mention, the staff was excellent. So helpful, so friendly, so willing to go out of their way to make your day the best it can be. We specifically appreciate Annie, the venue Manager. She was OUTSTANDING. We cannot thank her enough for her assistance, patience, and generosity. We hands down would recommend JX to anyone looking for a wedding venue. My husband and I were married at JX Event Venue this fall and couldn't have dreamed up a better venue. It is unparalleled as far as Stillwater goes - there is truly no other venue as classy or frankly as large in the surrounding area. We loved the historic charmed paired with the modern elegance. The wood floors, brick walls and windows, massive bar, and artistic finishes make it one of a kind. We particularly liked the built in photo booth and the bride and groom's spaces. My bridesmaids were able to get ready below at Just Cuz Salon, which made for a simple, seamless day. Our guests were really impressed and appreciated the ample parking across the street and proximity to main street Stillwater. The owners and staff were a pleasure to work with - this venue is truly a 10 - a hidden gem. Book now, you won't regret it!
Our team was a vendor for the Big Fake Wedding, the first event to take place at JX Venue and we were SO impressed. The space has truly been customized to be perfect for weddings. The space features a beautiful bridal suite, a lounge area outside the restrooms, a small kitchen, a photobooth, huge bar, and plenty of space to accommodate a large group for a wedding + reception. i I loved the brick walls, wood beams, and large windows and I know the photographers for the event did as well. The venue is just a few blocks up from the river and located near many sweet and cozy places for your guests to stay.
