Picture Perfect July Wedding!Reviewed on 7/23/2013 Kerin G
My wedding at the Kinney Bungalow was only 3 short days ago and it was PERFECT!!! I cannot say enough about the grounds at Sunset Farm and the ultimate beauty inside the Kinney Bungalow for my wedding day/night. The ceremony location is beautiful filled with greenery and of course the sunset! In addition to how beautiful the building itself is, it is also historical and unique on it's own. The staff at Narragansett Parks and Recreation go above and beyond to help you feel special, comfortable and have the best time possible on the most important day of your life! I would HIGHLY recommend the Kinney Bungalow for a wedding or special event....I wish I could do it all over again!!!
Perfect WeddingReviewed on 9/18/2012 Megan D
I recently got married at Sunset Farm in September. I could not recommend this location more! We had a beautiful day with cocktail hour out on the lawn and a wonderful evening dinner reception inside. Perfect for our 65 guests and more would be comfortable too!
My husband and I recently got married here and yes it is absolutely beautiful beyond belief!! Fall here is incredible, but not every detail about this place was good enough to give this place a 5...Lisa set us up in the right direction in the beginning but went down hill since she or anyone else there never returns phone calls..I mean never..a week before my wedding yes I had questions what bride wouldn't..email is not always the best lines of communication sorry! They messed up our seating chart as well & got mad when we did not immediately send them a 600 plus check for the stupid tables & chairs but we did not want to pay for it until it was correct! I arrived at the venue & Lisa was no where to be found..being my big day I would very much rather see and talk to the person I had been dealing with for over a year! Our music ended at 730 the event ended at 8 and they were cleaning up at 730 and made us feel rushed!
Rustic & Gorgeous!Reviewed on 9/09/2014 Briana T
We had our wedding at the Kinney Bungalow in July of 2014 and it was amazing and wonderful. Lisa, Jenny and the Staff checked in throughout the year ahead of time to make sure that we were moving along in our process, which was great. The farmer and his family next door were extremely accommodating allowing us to take pictures in front of the farm stand and in the fields. What's great about this venue is that you don't really need to decorate it all... the windows and gorgeous dark wood are all that you need. However, the twinkle lights that were added this year above the dance floor were probably one of my favorite parts! Since this venue is owned by the town, please be aware of certain rules and regulations that don't apply to other venues (make sure you read the contract before signing!). I highly recommend it!
Don't bother...Reviewed on 7/22/2014 Alyse P
I went to visit Kinney and I was very excited by how beautiful the grounds were as well as the interior of the building. Regardless of it's beauty it is not worth dealing with Lisa, the event coordinator. Your wedding planning is supposed to be an exciting time in your life but she is rude and unprofessional. There are plenty of other rustic, elegant venues out there besides this one. Keep looking!
Perfect Fall wedding venueReviewed on 11/02/2013 Meghan M
We had our wedding here on September 28th and it was truly magical. Everything about the Bungalow is perfect, especially in the Fall. We really loved that it was so private.
Kinney BungalowReviewed on 10/12/2013 Jill N
Our wedding at Kinney Bungalow was awesome. The venue is gorgeous and we had guests commenting all night about how much they loved it. They've recently expanded the parking lot and rennovated both the bathrooms and the bridal getting ready suite. KB is just a building with tables and chairs, so you can bring in all of the vendors of your choice - thereby having exactly the event that you want. Overall, we were very happy with our choice of venue and would reccomend it to others.
Perfect!Reviewed on 10/06/2013 erica r
My husband and I got married at the Kinney Bungalow on June 15, 2013. It was pretty amazing. Woke up to completely sunny skies, probably around 75 degrees. I couldn't have asked for a better day. We had done little research on venues when we first got engaged. Probably because the Bungalow was one of the first places I found on The Knott and I absolutely fell in love with it. We spend a lot of our time in the summer in Newport/Narragansett so it seemed to fit us well. We went down there one afternoon and met with Lisa so she could show us around and tell us a little bit about the place. Lisa was very nice and definitely seemed to know a lot about the venue. Just know that the Bungalow is rather on the small side. They say 150 people max and 130 people comfortably. But take it from someone who just got married there. 150 people would be way to much! We had about 108 and that would probably be the most I would have there. You could probably do 120 comfortably. We did a cocktail styled wedding so we didn't have a seating chart, people kind of just sat where they wanted. It was one of the best ideas we had. People mingled and danced all night, which is what we wanted. Overall I would say if you are looking for a do it your self type wedding, the Kinney Bungalow is perfect. You bring in your own cateror and they take care of most of the setting up work (if you choose a good one, and one that has done the venu before) It was a little stressfull morning of trying to figure out where I wanted everything, Just make sure you have lots of help. (mother, bridesmaids..etc.) You will need it on top of the catering company! Lisa was pretty easy going when we needed to get in there a little earlier then expected. Just know they are strict with a few things though. Certain décor and you need to have everything out of the venue that night. So like I said lots of help is a must! I would recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a rustic/historic/classic type wedding!
Gorgeous venue, great experienceReviewed on 7/29/2013
Kinney Bungalow was the absolute perfect setting for our wedding of about 100 guests. It really suited the style we were going for--classy but laid back and fun. The interior of this building is absolutely gorgeous. You really don't need to do any additional decorating. I don't think photos even do justice to how magical it looks when set up for a reception. The lawn is perfect for the ceremony and cocktail hour. There were recent upgrades in the spring of 2013 to the bathrooms, bridal suite, and exterior. Lisa was our primary contact throughout the planning process, and she was always quick to respond to questions and great to work with. Plus, this venue is extremely affordable. I highly, highly recommend this beautiful space!
Couldn't have picked a more perfect venue!Reviewed on 11/14/2012 Samantha S
My husband and I were looking for something non traditional for our wedding venue. We didn't want to get married somewhere everyone else had already been married. We also didn't want the famous tacky carpeting you see in every reception hall everywhere. I came across The Kinney Bungalow on TheKnot and immediately fell in love with its rustic feel. Living in Connecticut, our guests were a little unsure why we chose a venue a few hours away in Rhode Island, but upon arriving at our ceremony everyone knew why. This place is gorgeous! There are floor to ceiling windows, original woodwork and wood floors from the 1800's and a brick fireplace. It is adjacent to a fully functioning farm. The venue only holds 150 guests, which keeps your event small enough to be intimate but big enough not to leave everybody off your guest list. You can get married on site on the lawn, and have use of the surrounding lawn areas for cocktail hours, pictures etc (unfortunately no use of the farm!). The only draw back is you are solely renting the space; you have to bring everything else in yourself (I however preferred this seeing as it gave me a blank canvas to really create what I had in mind for our special day). They do offer rentals for chairs and tables should you decide to use what they have. They also have a great list of recommended vendors that are used to working in the historic conditions of the building (i.e. old kitchen). The building is owned by the town, and our contact throughout the process was friendly. She was very accessible in the last couple weeks leading up to our ceremony to make sure we had everything all set to go. All in all we had an amazing experience at the Bungalow and were so thrilled to get married there. The raw beauty of the venue and surrounding area made for truly wonderful memories and spectacular wedding photos :) I would recommend the Bungalow in a heartbeat if you're looking for something a little different and to wow your guests.
Great venue!Reviewed on 10/09/2012 Tiff P
Let me start off by saying I would not change our venue location, Kinney Bungalow is a gorgeous place and it fit us really well. I will say that I was not thrilled with the coordinator, Lisa. When we first signed our contract, we had another coordinator who was absolutely wonderful. She left and I was not notified of this until I randomly sent an email out one day. First, H and I went to the bungalow one day to meet the new coordinator, and I asked a couple of questions and she sarcastically asked if she was on a job interview. Second, one year into our contract we were informed we had to buy general liability insurance due to 'recent changes with the town'. That shouldn't have been our concern because nothing was stated in the contract, but we went ahead and paid it. Third- it states in the contract that they prefer to use Liberty Rentals as their rental company, but it also says as long as another rental company drops off and picks up during the allotted times, if Liberty does not have what we need we could get it from another rental company. We had a situation about a week before the wedding where I forgot to order the champagne glasses. I called Liberty and they were out of stock because they were being used. I emailed Lisa and told her this problem, and she said it would not be allowed to rent from another company and they 'just changed their rules as it states in the contract they can do at any time'. I would understand if Liberty had them, but they did not. I found her supervisors phone number myself after not getting a response from her about it, and only after having a long conversation with him did she grant a one time exception. On another note, I would add that we had a guest count of 122. I would not have an event with more than 125 people because of the space. Like I said, I would not change where we had our wedding because it really was gorgeous, but I was not fond of the planning experience there.
The best!Reviewed on 7/17/2012 Diana P
We got married in June 2012 at KB and we are so glad we did. It is an absolutely beautiful and unique space, and I loved that we could have the ceremony outside. This venue was perfect for us, we had about 105 guests at our wedding and I wouldn't recommend going much higher than that (the max capacity is 150). My husband is an architect and he was extremely impressed by the building itself, as were our guests. There is no AC and it did get hot, but with all of the huge windows open and the breeze coming through it wasn't too bad. It is an absolutely beautiful place to get married, we got some gorgeous photos there. Kinney Bungalow is a historical site, so all your correspondence goes through Narragansett Parks and Recs. My only complaint with that is between booking the venue and our wedding date, the coordinator position was changed. I ended up finding out through another of our vendors, and then it was another couple of weeks before anyone there notified me. Then, as we got closer, I was receiving emails asking for my balance from someone OTHER than the coordinator, which was sort of off-putting and confusing. I'm imagining they are going through some transitions with the changing of the position, and I imagine this will get better over time. But if you book them I would just advise you to stay on top of them so that you don't end up having similar confusions.
Spring wedding at the BungalowReviewed on 6/25/2012 Allison D
Our reception was held here in May. We choose this location because we both went to college in the area. It was the perfect place for our wedding. We had cocktail hour on the lawn, which was beautiful because we get to look up at the building; the outside is just as nice as the inside. If you have cocktail hour outside defiantly provide flip-flops, your guest’s heels will sink into the grass. Our guests raved about the inside of the venue and how different and beautiful it was. You don't need to go crazy with decorations because of the simple beauty of the room. The only thing about this place that could be better is the fact that the kitchen is small, you will probably have to pay your caterers to bring in a stove and the bathrooms could use a face-lift. If you're looking for a different and beautiful location this is the place.

Sunset Wedding in MayReviewed on 6/03/2012 Courtney C
Everything was wonderful! We had our wedding in May at Kinney. The sun was shining and sunset happened behind us as we ate dinner and we danced the night away.. We fell in love with Kinney the moment we saw it and it filled every one of our expectations! Lisa Roy was also a pleasure to work with.
November at KinneyReviewed on 11/23/2011 Mim P
We had a luncheon wedding at Kinney the first weekend of November, and were apparently the first to do so. It was a beautiful day -- lots of sunlight streaming through the windows, gorgeous weather, plenty of space for our 80 guests, and the staff at KB was wonderful.
AMAZING!!Reviewed on 10/17/2011 Ashley H
I've driven by this location so many times and always thought it would be a great place for a wedding. It was to my surprise that they did do weddings. It was the first and only place we looked. We booked our date right away. We got married there on October 10th,2011. It was a HOT-Fall day!! I believe it reached 87 degrees. Our Ceremony was beautiful, it was a bit too hot during our reception. We happened to have just about zero wind that day, or else it would have been a perfect breeze through those huge windows. I got so hot, I ended up getting sick and missed part of my reception. :( Otherwise, everything went so smooth and perfect. We didn't have to do much to decorate, Kinney Bungalow is just simply beautiful. It will forever be a special place for my husband and I. The only downfall, would be that after our catering cost and the price to rent their tables, chairs, set up fee, security deposit and rental fee for the very short 5 hours we had the place, we ended up paying what most other venues charge. BUT, you can't go wrong with this location!! So in that aspect, it was totally worth it for us. I would just suggest paying the extra for more time, cause 5 hours flew by!!
Perfection!Reviewed on 10/11/2011 Stacey S
The Kinney Bungalow was the only venue we visited while planning our wedding and the only one we needed to visit. The integrity of this building is like no other. Narragansett Parks and Recreation have done an AMAZING job keeping this beautiful building in impeccable shape. The history of the building is quite interesting and I urge you to visit the Kinney Bungalow website to read about it. You owe it to yourself to visit this venue even if at first glance you think it's 'not for you'. All of our 120 guests complimented us on our great choice of venue and commented on how different our wedding had been from any other wedding they had attended in the past [in a good way]. The staff [especially Brandi-the Kinney Bungalow coordinator], are also a joy to work with and we are eternally grateful for all of their help.

Absolutely stunning...Reviewed on 9/28/2011 Caitlyn L
In the month of July, my husband and I had the most magical wedding at Kinney Bungalow. Living in Florida and getting married in Narragansett, I thought, would be quite the challenge. Not the case. Brandie (the property coordinator) made it super easy and not stressful at all. She was very accommodating and had great advice for utilizing the property to its full potential. I couldn't have asked for anything better. The property seemed to have a million different, beautiful locations for photo ops. Sunset at Kinney Bungalow is stunning! Also, being located in Narragansett; it gave the wedding a "New England" feel to it; which, was one of my goals for my big day. Overall, the experience was amazing and I feel absolutely blessed to have found (at least for me) the most perfect vendor. No regrets at all. :0)

We were very happy here, it was a great setting. Indoor ceremony due to rain ended up being perfect and it was nice to have a secure back up plan.
Historic BuildingReviewed on 6/11/2011 Lindsey S
Loved it! Brandi, the coordinator, was always easy to get in touch with through phone or email, and was very helpful in making a layout and arranging rentals. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and doesn't need much in terms of decoration, but it is a little oddly shaped. I think the layout makes it a little more intimate, but isn't good if you want sweeping views of your reception. We had our ceremony in the yard in the back, and the reception inside. We had 65 guests, and had plenty of space for dancing/tables/milling around.
Wonderful Evening!Reviewed on 12/11/2010 Pamela G
Kinney Bungalow was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. We wanted a small-to-medium sized wedding, in an historical building. We wanted to be able to stay within budget. We had about 75 guests, and we were able to visit with everyone. People were able to dance and have conversations, and not be packed in like sardines. Brandi helped us quite a bit with the floor plan, had excellent suggestions about the timing of the typical wedding day events. She was great to work with, and didn't mind us calling her several times, asking stupid details about the venue. Overall, the experience was magical!
Beautiful SettingReviewed on 12/09/2010 Jade K
We had our wedding and reception at Kinney Bungalow. It was wonderful in every aspect! From the first meeting to the day of the wedding, all questions were answered timely and suggestions were provided for this out-of-state bride and groom. The attendents were very courteous and made everything run smoothly. All 90 people in attendence loved the venue and raved about setting for pictures. Well worth it for a memorable day!
Breathtaking!Reviewed on 12/04/2010 Meghan A
My husband and I held our reception at Kinney in October 2010. The staff was responsive, helpful, and easy to work with through the whole planning processes and the days leading up to the wedding. We had so many compliments on the venue and how beautiful and relaxing our reception was. I attribute this to hardwoods, fireplace, and windows at Kinney which created a perfect backdrop. I have read that some brides worry about the layout of Kinney but I actually prefered it to other venues I had been to. The unique layout lets guests enjoy a place to dance as well as a quiter place to relax and chat the night away.
