The Inside Scoop
FROM THE KNOT EDITORS
The First Look
Located in the heart of Williamsburg—one of New York, New York’s most hip and creative neighborhoods—The Knitting Factory Brooklyn offers an exciting alternative to the traditional wedding atmosphere. This state-of-the-art rock n’ roll haven is housed inside of a beautiful 5,000 square foot historic building and is as high-class as it is kick-ass. For couples ready to tie the knot in the spotlight and on the same stage that the hottest acts around perform on, The Knitting Factory Brooklyn is ready to arrange a fun affair to remember.
The Knitting Factory Brooklyn overflows with hipster charm. Spectacular lighting, video and sound technologies mix with rustic and wooden textures throughout the venue. Its spaces can be rented individually or combined and can host up to 400 guests for a cocktail hour and seated wedding receptions catered by The Federal Bar, The Knitting Factory Brooklyn’s sister restaurant that serves beer brewed in Brooklyn, specialty drinks and locally sourced, approachable American fare, before the celebration continues on the dance floor.
Front Room. The Front Room is an airy bar area with glass-front walls overlooking the lively Metropolitan Avenue. Big, cushy booths, exposed brick walls, funky art and industrial lighting give the space its distinctly Brooklyn vibe. There is a small stage perfect for toast-giving, as well as two flat screen TVs, three projectors and a superb sound system.
Main Venue. Thousands of concerts and live musical, theatrical and comical events have graced the large stage in the back of The Knitting Factory Brooklyn. The Main Venue is a simple space lit by several art-deco chandeliers, as well as windows opening into the Front Room. It contains two fully-stocked bars and comes equipped with a 13-foot projector screen to view slideshows and videos, plus a DJ booth for spinning tunes.
