Hidden Gem in LeesburgReviewed on 5/11/2015 Whitney M
Murray Hill is a picturesque property hidden away in Leesburg. It sits on the Potomac River and has a fantastic view and gorgeous grounds! The owners (John & Peggy) are lovely and always willing to answer your questions or let you drop by for a visit. Our wedding was in early spring 2015. The trees and flowers had recently started blooming and we had a beautiful day! We held our ceremony right by the river, same with the cocktail hour (held right behind the house). The reception was held in the barn, which is closer to Edwards Ferry Road. We had 144 people attend with rectangular farm tables - we all fit perfectly. One of the best things about booking here is that you are able to start bringing things in a few days early and have a day or two extra to get everything cleaned up. This is especially helpful if you're doing things DIY. We started moving in furniture, liquor, etc. late Wednesday and had the time to really decorate how we wanted. We didn't feel rushed and it made a huge difference. While you have to bring in almost everything yourself, they just built bathrooms in the barn! We were very excited to have them ready for our wedding. Also, while there is a room to "get ready" in, it's mostly for hanging out and getting the bride dressed just before the pictures and ceremony. Get ready somewhere else and get transported over! Overall, I recommend Murray Hill! It's a beautiful venue!
Murray Hill ceremony and reception venueReviewed on 11/07/2014 Catherine H
Peggy and John the owners were great to work with. They were responsive to all of my questions promptly. The venue is so unique and offers tons of great places to take pictures. If you love a rustic look and an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, this is the place for you. The barn is very pretty but laid back for the reception. The only consideration to think about is that you will need to rent restroom trailers, and hire all outside vendors to provide catering and rentals. Peggy is great at offering recommended vendors.
Perfect for an outdoor weddingReviewed on 5/29/2013 Alexandra J
I absolutely loved getting married at Murray Hill. Peggy and her husband John were a pleasure to work with and their property is gorgeous! My wedding ceremony took place on May 11th in the morning near their estate overlooking the Potomac River. The reception followed in their charming barn just a 10-15 minute walk away.
