Scott really was the BEST EVER!! He was my first choice in DJs, so I booked him early and I was SO glad that I did.

n down to the very last detail. Then, he offered to meet us again right before the wedding to review the details and make sure everything was perfectly ready. It was something I was feeling slightly stressed about, and he calmed my nerves and made me feel so comfortable going into the big day.
He took into account our music Preferences and did a great job blending crowd favorites with our favorites— even offering to create us a “do not play” list so that we could make sure we didn’t hear any music that we didn’t want to (how amazing is that?!)
He did such a great job with music transitions for everything from the processional, recessional, first dance and everything in between. I never really realized just how much a DJ needed to do for a wedding to be perfect, and Scott went above and beyond to make sure everything was right.
I already referred my best friend to him for their wedding next year, and I wouldn’t hesitate to refer to him again and again.
Even my family complimented how exceptional he was, and noticed that he walked around the reception tent during dinner to make sure the music was a good volume for every corner of the tent. We all appreciated that it wasn’t too loud to talk, or too quiet to even hear.
All of this amazing service and attention to detail while working through a pandemic. He was very professional and cleanly, and followed the strict rules of my venue- meaning he had to move his equipment from the dinner area to a pre-planned dancing area to social distance the dancing. He did this with a big smile on his face and did not complain at all about the extra work. He even suggested that we move the bar to the dancing area (a detail we had not thought about) to help more people enjoy the dance floor- and that idea was a HIT.
I could go on and on, but just continue to read all the other wonderful reviews of Scott, and you’ll see why he’s voted Top DJ.. because he’s just plain awesome!!

When I say he was super thorough, he will give you sheets that literally break down your entire ceremony and reception - from what music you want to hear, to names of your bridal party, any special dances, he plans for it all in a very organized way, and never once did we feel overwhelmed. Day off - couldn’t have asked for anything else!!! Scott went above and beyond! He took pictures throughout our entire day at the venue, in addition to what our photographer had, which was extra special to us! He read the vibe of our group to get people out on the dance floor with ease, and met with us a few times throughout the night to make sure we were happy with how things were going, and the music choices. He has VERY reasonable pricing, it was affordable and SO worth it. Scott, we can’t thank you enough for making our special day even more special.
The 3,500 character limit that The Knot limits me to is not nearly enough to express my joy & satisfaction with Scott's performance at our wedding and the level of professionalism that he exuded throughout the entire wedding preparation process...
. He is the definition of class, and if you choose him to MC your wedding, I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. Scott played nearly every song we requested, and kept it clean & classy throughout. His services were priced extremely fairly and we felt like we got much more than we paid for. For example, one of our larger regrets was that we didn't hire a videographer...but with Scott there was no need! He took several high-quality videos of the festivities throughout the night and several hundred photos...all of which he uploaded to a private server to download afterwards. If we ever decide to host another event here on the west side of Michigan, he will be our go-to choice, and we sincerely hope that you give him the same level of consideration that he so greatly deserves!

my Father of the Bride speech. I had no contact with Scott prior to the reception. While he was setting up we discussed the plan, It worked flawlessly.
Scotts communication skills, quality of his work as well his ability to improvise on the spot, will impressive, to say the least.
One thing I would like to note. It's just not being professional, or the quality of the work or the service. From my stand point, what Scott provided was first rate. It all comes down to personality and character. Scott has both. This is one of the reasons my daughter reception was a great success with many memories that will be remembered and talked about for years to come.

d who read his many great reviews on The Knot. My fiancé and I first met Scott in person to discuss our wedding day vision. We knew he was going to be our pick within the first 10 minutes of the meeting. His presence, ideas, and experience provided us with the confidence that he could make our event special; and he did!
Scott handled the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We didn’t know that the mic that he placed on our officiant was going to pick up our voices during the vows we read. All our guests could clearly hear what we said. And Scott assisted the videographer to access his sound equipment so he could record not only the ceremony sound but the sound of the entire reception for our videos.
Scott promised us that he would take all the pressure off us so we could enjoy our wedding instead of having to worry about the details and the timing. He did just that. There was a moment when my father informed us that he wanted to make an unplanned speech during dinner. Before introducing my dad, Scott made sure that both the photographer and the videographer we ready to capture the moment.
Once the special dances started after dinner, we told Scott that we didn’t want to dance to the entire length of the songs we chose. We are not the type that likes being the center of attention. It worked out perfectly! He faded the songs out once the photographer and videographer captured what they needed. When the formalities were out of the way, to get things started, and to get our guests out on the dance floor, Scott suggested that he would invite them to join us by leading with a slow song. After making the announcement, there was no room on the dance floor. People had to spill off to the sides to dance. Immediately following that song, he ramped up the music and the dance floor remained packed for the rest of the evening.
We did a sparkler send-off 45 minutes before the end of the event. All the guests were instructed to go outside and participate. We thought that the send-off would likely be the end of the event. This was not the case. After we left, we were told that most everyone that was still remaining went back to the dance floor to finish the evening giving Scott song requests. Our bridal party members later told us that our wedding was the most fun they had ever had at a wedding.
We had an idea that hiring the right DJ is essential to throw a great event, but now we know just how important. The day after our wedding, Scott sent us a link to all the photos and videos that he personally took during the entire event. What an incredible surprise!!
PS - Scott, you were fantastic! You exceeded our expectations! You should know that we received many compliments about your DJ service during our wedding, and after. Thank you so very much for everything!

like the part you shared about thinking everyone would leave after you had the sparkler send-off. If the venue would have let your guests stay longer, they were prepared to pool their money to extend the dancing. And I would have done it.

ing guests. Not only was he accommodating, but he provided us with some creative options to consider. This wedding is the first of our kids. The last wedding we planned was our own, so we appreciated any help we could get. What my husband and I noticed during the wedding was how attentive Scott was to our daughter and son-in-law. My husband decided to make a last-minute toast during dinner. Scott stepped in to present a smooth introduction and made sure that the videographer was able to capture that moment. It was very memorable and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
People commented how much they enjoyed the music Scott played during the cocktail hour and dinner. It was very classy and matched the venue perfectly. The guest list included a good number of older couples, many being our friends. Scott’s ability to switch from songs that were being played to the younger crowd, to songs that appealed to the older audience without losing the interest of the younger folks was impressive. Anyone who hires Scott for their wedding will be making a good choice. He is an exceptional DJ!

I hate to do this. But my experience with Scott was not great. We choose him based off of reviews and that was a mistake. On the phone to book, he was amazing…but once you’re locked in it goes down hill fast!! I was very patient as I know DJing...
isn’t his full time job, it’s more of a side gig. For starters he is VERY hard to get ahold of, you have to send 3 or 4 texts and he responds 2 weeks after OR you email and he states every time that it goes to spam and never reply’s to them. Responsiveness aside, he was downloading our requested songs the DAY OF our event and of course had problems finding a few. TWO HOURS before he was arriving at the event I had to frantically find back up songs. 15 mins before the ceremony began I was STILL helping him find songs………on top of that I had sent him our bridal party line up with grand entrance songs with all the information anyone in music would need. WE WENT OVER THIS INFO 7 times and he still mixed up people pairings for entrances AND their walk in music. The entire event was a completely messed up. And there is no exception to this review. We booked him a year and a half in advance and he had our song choices months in advance. He’s a really cool guy but he really dropped the ball for us.

iscuss any of this. Your review has caught me off guard because so much of the event was fantastic! All the photos and videos that I took that day reflect that. I am finding responding to your review quite difficult. To be fair, it would have been more appropriate if you had shared with the reader base of The Knot, a more comprehensive version of the details instead of only snippets. So many aspects that you wrote about in your review regarding the event and actions leading up to the event day are things I am simply not aware of.
Admittedly, I was challenged with some difficult-to-find, specific Disney songs that your sister (Bride) chose for the ceremony. The most challenging part was finding the obscure orchestral sources for those songs. Ceremonies are the most demanding aspects of a wedding. When I second-guessed on several of those songs the morning of the event, I needed some validation. My instincts are very keen. In my years of experience, it is always better to make changes before an event starts, rather than committing to it with questions. With ceremonies, there are no do-overs.
As the matron of honor and acting wedding planner for your sister's wedding, you had a lot on your plate that day and you were being pulled in many directions. In fact, I felt badly having to pull you away to deal with some of my concerns. According to our email and text correspondence time stamps, our communications were spot on, except for one single email I missed that your sister sent because it had gone to spam. Up until that point, you had been my only contact person throughout the planning process.
I don’t know if you realize, but the largest percentage of wedding DJs are not full-time performers – just as I am. I do not view the investment into my DJ services and equipment as a side gig. It is likened to a second career and I take each and every wedding that I perform for very seriously; as if my own.
I would like to take a moment to expand upon your description of the bridal party’s grand entrance. At the very beginning of the wedding planning process, you wanted to have each couple in the bridal party introduced to a separate song. You provided a list of those songs and the exact timing down to the second. My response was that I didn’t feel that was a good idea because from my experience, unless the group has the luxury of a live practice opportunity for timing, the intros can get confusing for the group. My attempt to get you to consider another option was unsuccessful. Just as I do with every wedding, just before introducing the bridal party, I lined up the couples in your party to be introduced, matched up their order, and ran through their names as they were to be announced. I verified the songs that each couple was to come in to. In situations like this, the most important thing that I emphasize is that the couples are supposed to enter only upon hearing their names called out. I repeated that several times to make sure everyone was on board. They all gave a “thumbs up.” When the intros began, the couples were coming into the dining venue ahead of the name callouts. In situations like this, nervous tensions can throw people out of sync. But even though they came in out of time, the guests still clapped and cheered. The bridal party intro segment was certainly not perfect but still resulted full of excitement from everyone.
Ali, I wish your experience with me had been a much more positive one. And as part of my continuous improvement process, I will plan to use your experience to make future couples’ events the best they can be. I wish you all the best.

The thing that impressed me the most about Ptak was his flexibility. We asked him to host a mini "Newly-Wed" gameshow. We weren't initially sure how it was going to go, but Scott's personality with a microphone in hand engaged the entire crowd. He also made a last minute change to our walk-in music after my wife and I realized we hadn't picked the right song. Additionally, Scott coordinated (on less than a five minutes notice) with the venue coordinator and building crew to turn down all the lights on his command as he turned up the music to transition from the mother-son dance to the open dance floor. The man is calm under pressure and will fulfill your request no matter how ridiculous or last second it may be.
Lastly, I am writing this review because before I left the reception I shook Scott's hand and thanked him for all he'd done that night. I asked what was the best way for me to help him, considering I won't be having any more weddings for him to DJ. He said the Knot reviews and personal recommendations help him the most. I gladly write this 5 star review for PTAK Entertainment and my wife recommended him to her newly engaged Maid of Honor. I am excited to see him DJ at her wedding next year!

This really elevated the speech and got everyone into the moment. Scott allows as much direction as you would like to provide with his in depth questionnaire. During the party he was a great and proactive emcee, especially when there was too much glass clinking and I couldn’t eat my dinner; Scott changed the requirements so the tables had to sing to make us kiss! We hired him for music & sound for our wedding ceremony and also music & emcee for our reception. I can't remember the song, but I think it might've been a disney song, which makes it more weird? That's on us, we should've asked more details before agreeing to this. When we talked on the phone, he really promoted himself as being a unique, one of a kind, host and would help us a lot with the details of our wedding. I was relieved because it was a distance wedding, and it was one last thing I would need to worry about. I wish I worried about it more and took my time finding someone else, or finding someone to run an ipod.

is case, your wedding in particular), I go out of my way to make certain it is going to hit on high notes. I worked just as hard on your event to make it stand out as I do every other.
Compared to all my other 5 STAR TheKnot reviews, the assessment from your point of few and remains to me to be quite hurtful because it did not depict your event as I and many others viewed it. In the end, it is not my or your guests opinions that matter - it is yours. I truly hope that that is not how you are going to remember your wedding reception, because that would be an absolute shame. You voiced several things that did not resonate well with you and I wish that your experience with me would have been different. There were many positive aspects of your event that were brought to my attention from your guests, the venue staff, the photographers and even members of your bridal party. This is why I remain confused regarding your very negative review.
I would like to take this opportunity to respond to your points of dissatisfaction.
Your guest count was just under 80 people. Keeping the dance floor filled for events with small guest counts can be tough, thus requiring the need to respond to guest song requests. Guests typically dance to music they ask for. You did in fact provide me with a list of songs, many of which I would have played without your list. I compared the songs on your list to those that I played during the event as shown by the history log kept by my DJ software. The comparison showed that nearly 80% of your listed songs were played during the all dance time frame and 100% of those asked to be played between cocktail hour and dinner were in fact played. Leading into your event, we shared many emails with details as I was establishing your event itinerary. You had given me your approval to play guest requested song on top besides your list which was a great help in allowing the dance floor to stay filled through the entire event. Many of your guests came to me at the end of the evening asking if I could continue to play, but the venue had a strict cut off point not making that possible. Suggesting that I “went rogue” is quite hurtful when my sole goal was to make your event a success. If the dance floor went stagnant, I risk being criticized for not playing songs to maintain the energy. Half way through the all dance portion of the event, I came to you to specifically ask you what you would like to hear as a point of being concerned about your particular song preferences moving forward to make sure you were going to be engaged.
The special dance that I recommended near the end of your event is something that I don’t always do at every event. I do not use it as a gimmick nor to promote my services. I felt it would be a great way to draw in all of your guest that were left at the end of the evening to come together and rally as a reminder for the reason they were there in the first place – to celebrate your marriage. It is true - I played a song of my choice since you didn’t have a slow song in particular to hear. It happened to be (Save the Best till Last) by Vanessa Williams. Every one of your guest remaining at the venue grouped around you and your husband on the dance floor while locking arms, holding hands and cheering for you. The videos and photos that I took of that dance and many other dances and aspects of your entire event that I shared with you demonstrate the great reaction from your family and friends. Not fully understanding your personality or tastes, I took a chance with that special dance and you didn’t like it one bit. For that I apologize.
From the time your ceremony music started, all the way through to the end of the reception, the timing went without a hitch. I invest thousands of dollars of sound and lighting equipment and music to create incredible events and invest in myself as a professional striving for perfection. Perhaps you recall the wireless spot lights I set up at no cost to you, to highlight your wedding cake on the lone table. I like to do special things for my clients and don’t ask for anything. There were many compliments regarding that lighting concept that came from your guests, the venue staff and the photographers. I presented you and your husband with a link to a large collection of videos and photos from the start until the end of your event so you could cherish the memories. I did not charge for that because I wanted to go above and beyond the scope of my job. Your best man came to me moments before his toast and asked if I would work with him to cue in a song that would lead in to his toast, which I did and it worked out nicely.
In the end, you were not happy with my services and I ended up being compared to a low level running an ipod. I love what I do as a professional DJ and love the results at the end of a successful event. I wanted to make your event historical, but couldn’t seem to do that in your eyes. I will take this experience and try to learn from it.

All night he made sure that everything ran smoothly and in a timely manner, constantly communicating with our venue coordinator, our photographer, and our master of ceremonies.
