Ramblin Jug Stompers

d. EVERYONE enjoyed the band. EVERYONE. Young, old, picky, boring. Including people that have never heard of a jugband, would have never imagined themselves enjoying this kind of music, and my DAD - who I HAVE NEVER SEEN ENTERTAINED. Really! Never!! I don't think this band would ever be considered (or consider themselves) a "wedding band", but I just had to submit a review. I want to shout it from the rooftops! The best "vendor" we chose for our wedding. One of the only things I would NOT go back and change if I could and that went off without a hitch or any effort! They just showed up and blew everyone away! We were on a strict budget paying for the wedding ourselves and not wanting to blow our life savings. In the music department, we decided to "DJ" our own wedding with our own iTunes playlist and rented speakers b'c we don't like wedding DJs, have very particular taste in music, wanted a more homemade feel, AND also wanted to save money. But we came across this band along the way (who used to play a regular gig at Tess's Lark Tavern in Albany, and now at McGeary's) and just couldn't resist the splurge and how perfectly it matched the aesthetic of our party. We hired them to play the first half (2 hours) of our reception for what we thought was a very reasonable price for a band (especially in the realm of wedding vendors) (well under $1000). I don't even think we would have been able to get any other band to come out for only 2 hours if we wanted to! For barely much more we could have had them play longer, but there were still some special songs and dance tunes we wanted to play at the party, so we did half band/half iTunes. By the time the band was almost finished with their 2 hours, the party was in a frenzy and my dad was pulling out his wallet and hoping they would play for longer! I REALLY wish we could have, because it was just so much dang fun!!! BUT, my husband had worked so hard on our iTunes playlist, we had to respectfully turn my dad down! Everyone loved it, The Jug Stompers were an amazing hit! Please check them out if it's your kind of thing!
