edding website for makeup in my area and contacted her immediately because her prices looked fantastic. Our communication was always sporadic and she took forever to respond to me. When she called, she was usually in the car. Sometimes she would text me instead of e-mailing, which struck me as unprofessional. She broke one of our appointments to go to a concert and another appointment for being sick (I can appreciate that one, I'm just mentioning it to mention the two broken appointments). When we did e-mail, I would ask several questions and on average, when she did reply, she only answered one or two of my questions. For example: I knew she advertised as a makeup artist but I asked her in every e-mail whether she could also do hair and she never gave me pricing information for hair + makeup even though I repeatedly asked for a quote on the whole package. She never sent me a quote or even a contract, so I could never set anything up with her. The final straw was when I wrote her to give her the official count of girls in my wedding party, whether they needed hair, makeup or both, and kindly asked her if she could send me a quote and contract and possible dates for a trial (only makeup, I didn't need my hair done). I didn't hear anything for a month (and by this time, there was only one more month till my wedding!) and when I did hear from her, this was her response (copy/pasted from my e-mail): "Hi! For Sunday, Octover 9th...how is either a 2pm or a 3pm start time for both hair and makeup trial? Thanks! Enjoy your weekend!! Rikki Sent from my iPhone" She didn't even mention that it had been a month since she'd contacted me last, didn't answer any of my questions or send me a contract, and didn't even read my e-mail well enough to know that I didn't need a hair trial; just makeup. Like I said, I wanted it to work out, she seemed really nice, and all other reviews from brides who managed to book her were positive about her work. She might have done fantastic work, but I was not willing to take the chance that I couldn't even trust her to communicate with me. At that point, I didn't even think I could trust her to show up on the wedding day! To wrap it up; her prices are phenomenal, I did try to make it work, but the stress I went through trying to work with her was in no way worth it, and worrying whether or not she was going to answer e-mails and show up when she was supposed to was a risk I was not going to take. For brides-to-be, your experience may be totally different from mine, but be wary of her response time and make sure she's answering your questions; you deserve professionalism in all your vendors.
