An email exchange with Shop Wild Things after we asked them for a half bead that was missing from the curtain we'd purchased:
Hi Julie,
I had our warehouse check to see if we had any spare parts we could send you and unfortunately we do not. P...er our policy, we do require to be notified within three business days of any damaged or defective items. You have had the curtain for over a month (and it is cut in half) so we are not able to exchange it. I spoke with my supervisor and we can offer you a 10% discount for any inconvenience. Maybe you can remove all of the half beads for a more uniform look? I am sorry I was unable to help you with this.
Sincerely,
Connie
Our response:
Hi Connie,
Allow me to interpret your response as read it:
Dear First Time Customer,
Because you didn't have the time to hang your beads immediately, we will not take responsibility for OUR error in leaving you short one half bead. Please understand; the delivery would cost us one half bead and a postage stamp! Further, because you cut the, let's be honest, cheap, poorly painted, splinter-ridden scrap wood board, we are going to pretend you somehow voided our delusion of a warranty. We're sure that your friends will see your groovy new beads and some may even ask you where you got them, and we want to ensure that you keep us out of the conversation, or at least talk smack about us. Something like, "I'm sure you can find them from a company with better quality control and customer service than Shop Wild Things." Finally, we hope you will seek out all applicable online review forums and grace them with our little email exchange.
Yours in Bizzarro Business Practices,
Connie
