As a bride just married, I am really sad about having to write this review. I am just back from my honeymoon and feel compelled to do so, so that no one else has to endure what I did at my wedding. There are so many things that I could get into about this venue but I will keep it to the main points. At first my (now) husband and I fell in love with the look and feel of this hotel, but I must say from the beginning we questioned the staff. As they say hindsight is 20/20 but we opted to confront it and then look past it. Mistake #1. We had multiple problems with our guests trying to reserve room, which was very important to us considering 80% were from out of town. I was finally contacted from the head of the department and was made to feel like a fool with the way she handled me and the way she spoke to me. Needless to say the majority of our guests ended up staying at a nearby hotel which was unfortunate. Fast forward to the week of the wedding. Our wedding planner Alison Montgomery leaves town for a sick relative. We totally understood that and she ensured us that we were in good hands. Nothing could have been further from the truth. She left and completely dropped the ball. From the second I tried to check in (and side note they had no room for me that we actually negotiated a contract for) it was a complete and total nightmare. Everything was such a mess and my mother and I were in tears basically for the next 48 hours. The girl (yes girl) who took over for Alison did not have a clue what was going on and she was so unqualified to take over an event like ours. She never answered her phone, so neither I or any of my vendors could get in touch with her. She did not know how a wedding should go so we had members of the bridal party putting out fires all day in between trying to get ready. It was so unbelievably horrible I can not even start to explain. Nothing ended up being how we had spent months planning. The worst part of all of it was no one at the SLS seemed to care. They spoke poorly to the guests and the bridal party. They treated my family so terribly, really there is just no excuse. They over promised and under delivered and if I can stop even one person from getting married here I would like to do so. They took away from us what should have been an amazing experience. So many other terrible things happened to us but I can not mention there here as they are personal and financial. You pay a ton of money to put on an event here and everything should be as perfect as possible but nothing was and not a single person tried to help us or make us feel any better. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!! I honestly can not stress that enough. Please DO NOT make the same mistake we did. Go to a real "luxury" hotel and pay for them to put on a proper wedding for you. It should be the best day of your life, not the worst. Please take my review seriously. I wish I had gone on Yelp or some of the other sites before I made my decision and it would not have ended this way. Have fun getting married and DO NOT CHOOSE THE SLS!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful Hotel!Reviewed on 8/13/2011 Victoria A
My maid of honor and I stayed at the SLS the two nights prior to my wedding. What a nice time! The rooms here are wonderful, my favorite being the bathroom! Love the soaking tub and how you fill it up with a hole that is in the ceiling, took a while for us to figure that out! And the full size shampoo and conditioner. They also have a nice selection of nice or naughty snack baskets...Room service is wonderful we ordered every night. Wish we could have gone to the restaurant downstairs, however we didn't get the opportunity to. We did go the spa for the Beautiful Body Treatment. The shower in the treatment room is amazing! In the relaxation room there is tea and cucumber water, fruit kabobs (yum!) and delicious chocolates to nibble on before and after treatments. You should check it the pool too if you get a chance..fun!
