During the whole time, Kris was our cheerleader (e.g. “Wow you look absolutely amazing!”)— even if you don’t need photos taken, consider hiring Kris to take a walk with you in a park because your self esteem will be boosted x1000 by his encouragement and positivity. We hired Sound Originals for both photography and videography after doing a ton of research. After getting quotes and talking to several photographers, Sound Originals was our clear pick. Ended up hiring Sound Originals for 2 photographers and 1 videographer for our wedding originally scheduled June 2020 but postponed to June 2021. Yay Covid!! Through the whole thing Dan was easy to work with, flexible on scheduling and super understanding. Fortunately Dan had staff available for our date in 2021. There was a slight fee to save our 2021 date but affordable enough and understandable as we essentially took 2 saturdays in June. A few months before the wedding we had our engagement shoot with Dan and had an absolute blast! It was our first time meeting in person but Dan is super friendly, relaxed and clearly knows what he's doing. And, our photos turned out amazing!! Leading up to the wedding, Dan sent us a planning document to go through everything related to both the photos and videos.. IE what groups/shots do you want, timeline related questions, videography highlight video style, etc etc. This made it really easy. On our wedding day we had our two photographers Cheryl and Sarah and our videographer Jared show up on time (a little early actually) and ready to go! They were so professional and knowledgeable about everything and did a great job keeping everyone organized for family/wedding party photos as well as taking some creative freedom to explore the venue and get some photos/video of everything. And, it was great seeing the team work together so professionally to give us the best result possible. We received a preview of our photos about 24-36 hrs after the event ended and received the full set of edited and BEAUTIFUL shots about 3 weeks after our wedding. The highlight video, ceremony video and toasts video arrived about 1 month after the wedding. Before we got the final version of our highlight video, he shared it with us for feedback. First of all, it was AWESOME. SO Happy we opted for a video from them. Secondly, there was just one tweak/special request we had and communicated to Dan - he said "Absolutely!" and the final version of the highlight video was sent out a day or two later. The sharing platform Sound Originals uses makes it convenient and easy to download low or high resolution versions as well as order/print photos directly from the site (with a discount!). This made it easy to share our gallery with family and friends - also helpful the gallery was organized by primary 'milestone' ie: ceremony, getting ready, reception, etc etc. Regarding cost vs quality: Sound Originals is a little above average price wise, but leaps and bounds above average content wise. We're fairly picky with style, color, composition, etc and were so impressed by the end results. AMAZING photos, AMAZING-ER videos. Consider it an investment you'll enjoy for years and years to come and don't think twice!

We just finished our engagement photoshoot (included in the package we selected) and it was awesome to get to work with Dan, he is so personable, professional and knowledgeable. It was also great to get a sense of how things will be on "The Big Day"! It was very comfortable and effortless. He sent us our pictures and a slide show within 10 days of the shoot and they are absolutely beautiful! He captured so many special, candid, unique shots. contract which made us a little uncomfortable. On the day of the wedding Tanner showed up first to setup all of his gear, and he was professional and efficient. He also thankfully brought a small flat panel LED light to help ensure we had good video quality. The lighting solution for our canopy was less bright than I had hoped it would be so this was a very fortuitous decision on his part and it helped ensure that our live stream came out looking great. Well prepared for the job and result was great. Dan showed up a little closer to our start time, but was equally prepared. He unobtrusively took photos during the ceremony, and afterwards directed us in setting up additional shots. Neither of us had really done any research into what kind of photos we wanted so he took us through a wide array of poses to ensure we had a varied set. Within a few days of the ceremony he had provided us with the final album and all of the photos have come out very nicely according to our friends and family. I have never had need of a professional photographer, and I'm unsure if I ever will again but Dan and his team provided exactly the service we were looking for on a suitable timeframe in a professional and efficient manner. I am quite pleased with the results, and I would definitely recommend their services.

He made us so comfortable and at ease during the picture taking process (I can feel so awkward in front of a camera so I was nervous) and they all came out incredibly. They were super professional at the wedding and when we were looking at pictures there was so many times where I said “woah I didn’t even realize he was standing there for that!”. Just seamlessly captured all the special moments while also not interrupting them. I also couldn’t believe how he worked with some tight and odd spaces that we were getting ready in to somehow still get awesome shots. Overall we couldn’t be happier with the pictures and video he captured for our big day. He knows his stuff, he’s amazing at what he does and you can tell he truly cares about making sure his couples are thrilled with their experience. Random bonus - both my husband and I have big families and the extended fam portraits could have been a HOT MESS (and left to our own devices they for sure would have been) but he funneled everyone in and out for different groupings so seamlessly and quickly, it was awesome. 5 stars for Dan and his team. :)

He floats like a butterfly in the background and knows how to capture all that he needs to create your most wonderful creation. I look back at our pictures and video and relive that day much easier thanks to the outstanding professional work he and his team produced that day. I felt he struck a perfect balance between stepping in and suggesting how and when would be good photos, but also stepping back and just capturing those special moments on our big day. Hiring Sound Originals in retrospect was one of the best decisions we made, I would not hesitate for a second to recommend them.

The entire process from beginning to end of working with Dan was excellent. He always replied super quickly, and went out of his way to get us what we wanted. For example, we decided mere weeks before the wedding to hire a livestreamer instead of doing it ourselves, and Dan found us someone he had worked with before on very short notice and who was in our budget. And a month or two earlier we had had to reschedule the wedding and make some changes in the plan, and Dan was super responsive and helpful in getting us rescheduled. I had no idea planning my tiny wedding would be so stressful, and working with Dan was one of the least stressful aspects of the whole experience. And then afterwards, he got the finished product out SO quickly!! Just a few days after our ceremony, our family (who could not attend as they would all have had to fly) were able to watch a professional-quality video of our ceremony. In mere weeks we had our photos and then the film, and this timeline just blew me away. In addition to being just beautiful works of art in general, it really comes across, especially in the wedding film, that he got a sense of who we are as a couple, and incorporated that feel into the final product. Thank you Dan and Sound Originals for immortalizing our special day!!

Dan is also very proactive in working with us for wedding timeline and did a great job coordinating between us and the photographer, Cheryl, and videographer, Mike, who did our wedding day pictures and videos. Dan always answered our questions in a timely fashion and catered to our customized needs. We also loved working with Cheryl a lot. She is so detail oriented and has such a good eye to capture all the wonderful moments of our big day. She is also very patient and friendly. We don't feel nervous at all but only peace and joy. I'd also like to mention how cautious the whole crew - Dan, Cheryl, and Mike - are during the covid-19 pandemic. This really makes us worry-free. Lastly, I would like to call out how fast they got our wedding photos and videos done. We got them in just a few days - much shorter than we expected!

pretty upset with the quality of the footage from the original videographer (not Dan) and we had been told by other videographers that our footage was not usable, but Dan was able to turn it into a lovely highlight video. We wish we would have just hired him in the first place! We could not be more grateful for the work that Dan did.

He was a master at work, stopping occasionally to survey the scene in order to maximize the shot, taking so many photos in such rapid succession. At one point, he turned his camera to our special needs daughter, about 10 feet away, who was watching in her chair under a shade tree, too anxious to be closer to the ceremony taking place. When the photos came in, there was a wonderful picture of her relaxing and seeing her older sister get married, plus pictures of her responding to a fist bump from the groom and an intimate moment with her sister. We will forever be grateful for these precious photos. We look at the pictures and think, “How in the world did he get that shot?? “ Due to covid-19, the venue had been changed from Lairmont Manor in Bellingham to a small backyard next to a lake. It was a non-traditional, thinking-totally-outside-of-the-box kind of a wedding. When the bride and groom changed into bathing suits and planned to jump into the lake to celebrate and cool off, he got into a neighbor’s boat (with mask and sunhat) and took INCREDIBLE photos of them mid air, faces ecstatic, jumping off the dock, and then landing in the water, every frame captured. Thank you Dan, for capturing our daughter’s wedding day so beautifully and with such artistry. Parents of the Bride

There were some amazing moments he captured that made us go, he took that? How did he even get that shot? Dan went with the pictures we wanted to take, as well as coming up with his own very creative ideas. We took some social distancing pictures with our parents, and Dan made them look purposeful and beautiful. We could tell Dan enjoyed a challenge. We ended up jumping into the lake at the end of our wedding and Dan took some amazing water shots of us which he said he hadn't really done before. We would have never known that was the case with the photos we got back. Dan also got our photos back to us extremely fast, and we absolutely are in awe with how they turned out. If you are on the fence about a photographer to hire for your wedding, your search is done. Hire Dan, you will be so happy you did. We already booked him again for our big reception in 2 years.

I am so glad we booked him for our wedding! Day of, he was easy to work with and incredibly patient with our large families. He gave great directions for photos and also captured many of the natural moments between my husband and me. We had so many incredible photos after our wedding that I can't even pick my top 5 - they are so amazing! I also love his editing style since I found many photographers that had either an overly moody, dark style or were extremely bright and white. I know that my wedding pictures will look great for decades to come (and not look overly edited or styled). Also, the turn-around time was fantastic. We had a collection of initial images the next day (!) and our full album in a few weeks so I was incredibly impressed with the speed during a time when I know he had many other weddings he was working on. The one thing I wish we did differently is hire Dan for a longer time frame and also plan for specific pictures with us and our guests (we don't have enough with our favorite people). Overall we are so happy with the experience and we will treasure these photos forever!

On the big day, Dan and his colleague were on time and accommodating to our slightly unusual itinerary. Throughout the wedding day, they blend into the background to capture the most natural emotions of the moment. The photos were absolutely gorgeous and they look great on our wall! The final video definitely shows how good Dan is at storytelling, as we still watch it once in a while to relive that day. The one thing I wish I did differently was to include more group combinations during the wedding party/family photo shoot. I was worried that we don’t have time for all combinations so I eliminated some before sharing the list with Dan, but later on I realized I didn’t take solo photo with my childhood best friend. I’d suggest to include as many combinations as possible and rank them with priorities, which should help Dan manage the photo shoot time. I also wish that I asked Dan to take more photos of us with the guests. He definitely captured many of them beautifully, but I could have asked him to follow us at least for the short 10-15 minutes when we talked to our guests, so we can focus on the conversations and still have the photos to remember the moments, especially with some guests that we rarely see. If you want to capture as many “people” in your wedding photos vs the special emotions or moments (which Dan is extremely good at), or have a balance between the two, make sure to communicate that with Dan. Overall we are very happy with our decision working with Dan, and we will recommend his company to any couple looking to use photography or videography to remember their big day.
