The First Look
Located on eight acres of beauty in Killington, Vermont, the Summit Lodge is the perfect place to say your "I dos." The facility sits on its own private knoll and features extensive gardens that are perfect for first-look photos. Of course, couples find the panoramic view of the Killington Mountains hard to beat. The lodge is just 10 minutes from the Rutland - Southern Vermont Regional Airport and wows with its rustic hand-hewn beams, romantic fireplaces and decorative antiques. To-be-weds are welcome to continue staying at the lodge for their honeymoon, as the staff provide a complimentary shuttle to nearby golf courses and ski slopes. They even arrange for you to take part in an Appalachian hiking adventure. When it comes to ceremony and reception venues, couples find the following venues are perfect.
Outdoor Gazebo. Take a walk down the aisle to meet your groom under the beautiful white gazebo. Friends and family members love the views of the Green Mountains as you recite your vows and get pronounced husband and wife. Your photos are sure to be stunning with the well-manicured landscaping and colorful flowers that surround the gazebo.
Living Room. Should the bride and groom wish to get married during the colder winter months or if rain is in the forecast, there's always the Living Room. The staff are more than happy to convert this space for an indoor ceremony when needed. The cozy fireplace and exposed wood beams provide a warm and charming atmosphere.
Terrace and Gazebo Bar. Once the ceremony has concluded, to-be-weds may opt to have a cocktail hour in the Terrace and Gazebo Bar. The bar is located next to Saints Pub and has views of the outdoor pool.
Green Mountain Room. Your final destination on your big day is the Green Mountain Room. This spacious spot is where your reception takes place.
What You Should Know
An event coordinator at the Summit Lodge is more than happy to take couples on a tour of the facility. Once the bride and groom decide to book the venue, they have the opportunity to sit down with the talented culinary team to create a menu. After selecting a few hors d'oeuvres to be served during the cocktail hour, move on to the main meal. You may opt to have a buffet-style reception or a sit-down plated dinner. Couples are welcome to add a food station or even request a simple barbecue out by the pool. The lobster mac and cheese and chicken pot pie dishes are especially famous.
Couples are welcome to use outside vendors for everything not food related. The event coordinator is more than happy to recommend trustworthy florists, photographers and disc jockeys if you aren't familiar with the area. They even arrange a Justice of the Peace if you don't have one. Whatever special requests you have, the staff works hard to see that they are met. For example, strings of lights are able to be draped around the gazebo for a sunset wedding or a variety of lawn games, like shuffleboard and a horseshoe pit, can be set up to provide entertainment for guests during the warmer months. No request is too big or too small.
As an added perk, the Summit Lodge is equipped with 44 guest rooms that include everything from your standard room to a family room to a suite with a Jacuzzi. Couples book a room for their wedding night, as well as help out-of-town friends and family secure lodging for the big day. A few more perks that make the lodge stand out are listed below.
- Complimentary parking
- Wireless Internet service
- Spa services on site
- Two heated swimming pools
