The Air Castle

It was so cute.

heart. I loved her custom Star Wars characters the most. I came to The Air Castle with a two page description of what I wanted and I even sketched it out. As a gay couple, I wasn't going to be able to find two ladies who looked anything like my wife and me without getting it custom-made. I also wasn't sure if The Air Castle would be willing to do such a custom order. I mean.... I had a sketch. The Air Castle was amazing! I put it out there and I had a response within hours. She was happy to help & ready to make my partner and my dream come true. I put the deposit down. I waited a few weeks, because with any custom order, you have to let the artist give the creation love and life. About three weeks later, I got an email with the final product. She asked if it was what I had imagined. She wanted to make any final changes before she did the last step in her process. It was more than I could imagine! My wife & I had wanted two brides that looked like women. I wanted to be in a dress, my partner in a suit. Jennifer asked for pictures of our suit/dress, my partner's peacock shoes. Jennifer asked how I wanted to attach a parachute that my wife had already made. Flash forward about another week. The package came in the mail. My wife didn't know I who I ordered from. She didn't know what to expect. She knew I had been talking to someone about making a custom order cake topper and she told me she wanted a parachute that she could attach. The cake topper was beautifully wrapped and protected. It had ribbon & The Air Castle business card attached to the package with a kind hand-written note on the back from Jennifer. My wife waited until I got home to open the package together. I wanted to see my wife's face when she opened the gift I got for her. It was magical. First my wife couldn't say words, she was speechless. Then she shed a tear with a big smile on her face. Lastly she gave me a hug & kiss and said "It's perfect!" I emailed Jennifer later on that day saying that it arrived. It was absolutely beautiful and how much my wife loved it! On our wedding day we had several compliments of all the beautiful things we did and for our service but one of the two things that received the most compliments was our beautiful wedding cake topper. en I brought it in the day before our wedding, the planning staff at my venue went CRAZY! They loved it and thought it was one of the most creative things they had seen... and they see a lot of weddings! We received SO many compliments about our cake and cake topper at the reception! The little figures were all over instagram. Definitely a big hit! The best part is, we have our cake topper as a sweet keepsake from our big day. I knew I wanted a cake topper that was not quite so “cookie cutter” and that would somehow represent –us– and of course, I needed to not break the bank. When is stumbled upon The Air Castle on Esty I was in awe at the character and charm each little creation had. Each of her creations was more unique than the previous and all were just bursting with personality. Through searching the pictures I was able to come up with some ideas that might work for us, so I sent a message… Instantly she responded! She was positive, polite and most importantly seem to make what I wanted a priority. We emailed back and forth and came up with the perfect cake topper: Two blue herons on a log that our initials carved in it. She was able to make all the accents match the wedding colors, the size was perfect and the charm and character was more than I could ever hope for. Our herons perfectly captured the theme of our wedding, The Chesapeake Bay, and looked amazing sitting atop our wedding cake. It is now a centerpiece in my home, and a keepsake I will have forever. This online order was well worth the risk and I can’t wait to order more from the charming site!

Now, I am a very particular person and I requested many things: colors to be precise to my wedding colors, different types of flowers, initials, and etc. I was constantly emailing her and checking with her on the topper and she was always readily availible. She has the sweetest personality and you can tell she absolutely loves what she does because she puts in every little tiny detail. I could not have been more happy when my toppers arrived! They were wrapped extra carefully in a box and tied together with a burlap string. Now my husband and I have this amazing topper, not like any other generic topper, that is ours forever, to always look at and remember our special day and love for owls. Not only does she make amazing toppers, but she also makes other various items too like Christmas ornaments, in which I have purchased from her. I recommend Jennifer and The Air Castle to any bride who is looking for that one little unique detail to add to their very special day!
