From the moment I walked into the store looking for dresses to the moment I put the dress on the day of the wedding, Gladys at the Bridal Cottage was absolutely amazing. She mad the whole experience so personalized the entire time and truly mad...
e me feel like such an important and beautiful bride. The dress was perfect and so unique, the alterations were perfect, and it made my wedding day so special. She was so sweet and so accommodating, and she really showed that she cared about how the dress looked and about making sure it was perfect for my wedding. She personally made changes she felt would make the dress look better that I wouldn't have ever noticed on my own, like changing the clasp in the back of the dress and changing the way the dress bustled, and measuring everything perfectly, at no extra cost to me. The dress was also so affordable. I really had such an amazing dress experience and it was such a pleasure to have the opportunity to get to know Gladys thought this process and to connect to her on a personal level! She made it so easy and I couldn't have asked for a more amazing and stress free dress experience!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED :)

I was told I didn't need to try on my dress before pickup- picked it up the day before the wedding and tried it on that night and it wouldn't close. It had been taken in on the back instead of the front, many many shortcuts taken on alterations...
. Through the four fittings I was told to workout and lose weight to have the dress fit my back better instead of having the dress fit me. Ended up paying an extra $300 for emergency alterations from another shop so that I had a dress to wear the wedding day. I called Gladys and left a message with my concerns and never got a call back. Thankful for the seamstress who saved the day because if I relied on this place I would have had my day ruined by a dress that was an inch and a half too small all the way around and wouldn't clasp.

I was surprised to find my dress at the Bridal Cottage, to be honest. I didn't expect the King's Mall of Kingston to offer much, but it does! Gladys is the only go-to person at the Bridal Cottage. It's in need of some updating and TLC, but thei...
r dresses speak for themselves! I was able to customize my entire dress through a company Casablanca and I'm so glad I did! I created my dream dress. I didn't have ANY alterations done there so I can't speak to their alterations dept, but I am pleased with their service and prices. I do want to mention that you need to call and follow up when waiting for products/dresses to come in. My mother (mother of bride) also bought her dress there! We had to call a few times to follow up on arrivals of dresses, but were pleased with service and bridal gown selection. Mother of Bride/Groom dresses are there, but not many options.

I went to both the Bridal Cottage and David's Bridal to look for a dress. David's Bridal made me feel like just another $$ for them to make. The Bridal Cottage let me try on as many dresses as I needed to before I made my decision (which ended ...
up being the 2nd dress I had tried!). She did an amazing job and my dress came out perfect!! If you like the commercial feel of a chain store that is fine, if you are looking for someone who truly seems to care about your bridal needs then go here!!

I initially went in just looking at dresses for my Matron (only member in wedding party) and I ended up trying on a few wedding dresses and with the second one I fell in love. About a week later I went back with my Matron for her to try on a f...
ew dress and the first one she tried we fell in love & ordered it. That's when trouble began! We received a call about 2 weeks later advising that the dress was discontinued & we needed to go back to find a new dress for my Matron. Not a problem, we go back find another one, order it, request a small swatch (so we can match flowers, ties, accessories) As well, when ordering both my Matrons dress & my gown we were required to pay for rush delivery $70 for hers/$150 for mine!
Early July, I get a call that my dress is in and that I needed to come that day to pay it off balance of $800 that day since my dress had just come in. This would have been understandable if Gladys didn't prior tell me that my dress wasn't going to be ready until Beginning of September and since I couldn't whip $800 out of my pocket she gave me a HUGE attitude! Then with all the charges for the rushing (which really didn't need to be done) and alterations they came out to almost the price of the dress which was $750 and the dress price was $850, weird right?
Early September my Matron's dress comes in for my 9/30/2011 wedding and when she goes in for the trial not only is the dress in the completely wrong color but it's about 2 sizes to small after my matron has just lost 6lbs. Dress color really wouldn't have been such a huge deal if we hadn't already hand made all of the bouqets & boutineires, purchased ties and my gift to my Matron was garnet stone necklace that matched her original swatch perfectly. After about 2 weeks of waiting for an answer to what they were going to do to help us out. At first they wanted to charge us for the wrong color/size dress & then have her purchase a new one but finally a week before the wedding we came to an agreement to use the original sample dress & have it completely altered. After much arguing they brought it down to a "sample dress price"
As well, a week before the wedding my gown had yet to be altered & when I stepped in she assured me that the bust on the strapless dress would be more flush to my chest & the train bustling would be complete.
One the day of my wedding I pulled my gown out, put it on to not only find that the dress was to long & I kept tripping when I walked but bust was not flush to my chest (with my Mom's magic fingers she pinned it correctly and it then sat flush to my bust line) Then the bustling stiching was in plain sight & very VERY noticeable. Lastly, after the ceremony, the bustling hooks were not in the dress but there was two off white strings under that wouldn't hold the weight of my dress and my Matron as well as my friends helped hold my dress through out dancing & what not during my recption.
Needless to say, I was not happy with Gladys or Kate at the Bridal Cottage in Kingston, New York!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me first say that this place is such a diamond in the rough! I tried on so many dresses and didn't know what I wanted. I was the textbook confused bride. Let me just tell you-Gladys (the owner) picked out my wedding dress for me! After ...
trying on a bunch and getting thoroughly agitated, Gladys put her finger on her chin and said "I have the perfect dress for you." She ran and got the dress and slipped it on me. By the time it got to my waist, I KNEW it was my dress! It was $700.00 ! How crazy is that!? And I was ready to go to Kleinfeld and pay thousands on my dress. I'm so happy that I found Gladys and that she found my most perfect dress for me. You have to go see her-it's so worth it!

Gladys was so helpful and wonderful! I found my perfect wedding dress (Maggie Sottero SD5220) online. It is a destination dress and none of the bridal shops in the Capital Region or in Memphis/Arkansas/Mississippi area where I was living had it...
in a sample to try on. After my mom called every possible shop looking for a sample of this dress, Gladys said she would be willing to have me come in so she could look at my body type and we could decide which option we should go with (perfect dress or back up dress that I had tried on in Arkansas). When I went in she put me in the closest thing possible and then added things to it to make it as close to the dress. Looking at the pictures of both dresses we decided the Maggie Sottero was the way to go.
That was Thanksgiving. Back to Mississippi I went, nervous that I bought a dress without trying it on, but excited that I was able to get that dress and an expert thought it would look good on me. The dress was supposed to be in by the end of March, but for one reason or another (I'm not sure if it was the Bridal Cottage or Maggie Sottero) it didn't get into the shop until July 16 (my wedding was August 14th). Although I was very nervous during the waiting period, Gladys kept me updated on the progress of the dress and when it finally came in, was very speedy with fitting and alterations. She was also great with my mom, grandmothers, and maid of honor. I am so happy I trusted her with my dress!

First, this place is actually in Kingston, NY, not Poughkeepsie. Gladys owns this little shop and if you check back often you can find a steal on an amazing dress. My dress was normally over a thousand dollars and I got it for $350!!! Its a sat...
in, straples dress with beautiful bead work. Gladys does all the alterations herself. She had to take my dress in at least 3 sizes and alterations were only an additional $135 which is amazing considering she had to remove lace and beads and put them back on. She is also very understanding and patient, despite what you may read from other reviews. I HIGHLY recommend visiting her.

s online and called to see if they had it. Gladys told me she had the dress, I went in to the store the next day and she had it in the dressing room and she just assured me that it would fit without even knowing my size! The dress fit perfectly. Gladys was awesome to work with and it was a pleasure going there for each fitting! I highly recommend this dress shop even if you think it's a little far to get to. I could not have hoped for a better experience!
