About this vendor
The Bride & The Bauer
You’re THE BRIDE, we’re THE BAUER, and we’re meant for each other!
We have a charming, vintage-style event space on a unique city block with an incredible, top-story view of our downtown skyline, and we know you’ll love it here. In 1894, The Bauer Machine Works Building began manufacturing engines, buggies, wagons and surreys. Now, our building features galleries, artists’ studios, arts-inspired retail and services, and, of course, our one-of-a-kind event space. The brand new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts glimmers through our windows just one block north, and local galleries, restaurants and shops are peppered throughout the neighborhood. We’d love for you to be a part of our creative family, and we can’t wait to talk to you more about your event!

This venue was the perfect size and location for our ceremony and reception (140 people). Love that there is a separate room to move people during a cocktail hour to flip the room from ceremony to reception. The staff was lovely to work with. I especially enjoyed their “Bauer Hour” open house once a month. It was great to visit the venue and get a good feel for the space before the big day. The venue and bar are a package deal, and the bar manager/staff was super helpful. Their bride and groom getting ready suites were also a plus. They were a nice home base for belongings and beautiful for taking pictures.
We would absolutely recommend The Bride and The Bauer for any couples looking for the most intimate wedding venue. My husband and I love the rawness and the warmth of the event space. The ambiance of the Edison light bulbs with the KC skyline backdrop, made for the most romantic New Year's Eve wedding we could have asked for. The Parlour space for cocktail hours and the getting ready suites were also so well done. Beyond, the amazing space, we could not have worked with a better team. Emily, Lauren, and the entire event staff are exceptional. They made us feel so special from the first tour to our wedding day. Emily was always quick to respond to any questions I had and really helped me ease my wedding day nerves during our final walkthrough meeting. She also has a wealth of industry knowledge and guided me through vendor recommendations as well. All of our guests were truly wowed by the venue. We are so happy we went with The Bride and The Bauer for our wedding!
We just got married at the Bauer three weeks ago, and we absolutely loved it. We did our reception and ceremony there, and the view is absolutely spectacular. You have so many shots with Downtown Kansas City in the background. It really sparkles at night time. The Bauer is located right in the heart of the Crossroads District. The actual wedding space is on the third floor of Bauer Machine Works. We toured it for the first time about 13 months before our wedding and were immediately drawn to it. Emily is the event coordinator for the Bauer, and she is so great to work with, along with her husband, Israel. Leading up to the wedding, we attended Bauer Hours (once a month) and met with Emily periodically. She helped us organize everything for the big day, including our floor plan, itinerary, design. The space contains the main reception room, a groom's suit, a bride's suit and a parlor room for the cocktail hour. We had about 160 guests at our wedding, and the space holds up to 220. It felt a little cramped during cocktail hour, but the actual reception area was the perfect size. We had plenty of room to dance and let loose. They offer different bar packages, and we did the one that was $25 per person. That included beer, wine and mixed drinks. The only complaint we had is they ran out of wine about an hour before last call. And, be prepared to walk up and down the stairs a lot. There is a freight elevator available, but it ends up being easier just to walk. Other than that, we are head over heels for the Bauer, and you get to work with Emily! We're so glad we went them as our venue. It was such an unforgettable night, and the Bauer will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Any questions?
The day would not have been nearly as successful as it was without The Bauer and team's hard work and dedication. Their team was super attentive and incredibly helpful. They made sure the space was comfortable and we got rave reviews about the beauty of the space (and how cool the elevator was)! You guys have something special with the Bauer!
The Bride and the Bauer was the absolute perfect venue for my daughter’s wedding/reception. The location is in a cool art district and is central with hotels and restaurants/bars close by. The bride & groom dressing rooms were comfortable, charming and fun. The parlor was perfect for cocktail hour and the main reception area is gorgeous with beautiful lighting and a fantastic view of the KC skyline. The staff was very professional, incredibly accommodating and so KIND! The entire day was stress-free and magical! I would highly recommend this unique & beautiful space. My daughter loved every minute of her special day!
I got married here and it was so so amazing. The space was perfect and allowed us to not have to add too much extra decor because it was already so pretty. We were also able to do our own music with their sound system which was so helpful and easy. Highly recommend this beautiful space!
The Bride and the Bauer is magical. I had the best wedding day due to Emily. We had such a smooth day and Emily was so responsive to all of our many questions. I was not stressed at all because I knew that we were well taken care of. Highly recommend this space to any couple looking for a venue!
We loved the Bauer for our wedding! The Bauer hour was helpful and having access to view the space was clutch. They have a well established rental routine where we knew exactly what to expect. Their packages are very clear into the point and their communication is very efficient and effective. The spaces themselves were absolutely beautiful and being able to run the lounge space, the furniture, and the bride and grandma‘s rooms really made the experience special. We were our own DJ and the sound system was great as well as the ambience throughout the evening being able to control the lights. After looking at nearly a doused venues across the mentro, we found the the Bauer was a great balance of beautiful accommodations and affordability.
The Bride & The Bauer was an absolute dream venue for our ceremony and reception. We worked with them for over 2 years planning our dream day including postponing twice while living out of state and out of country, and they were so organized and responsive helping us navigate what was best for us. The venue had everything we could've needed for getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and the staff was wonderful. There was such a build up and high expectations to our wedding day since it took us years to finally get there, and they truly did not disappoint. We got so many compliments from the guests loving the space and everything running seamlessly. High recommend The Bride & The Bauer - 100% satisfied.
The Bauer is the BEST! While we had to wait 2.5 years to finally have our wedding due to COVID, it was well worth the wait. The staff, atmosphere, and view at the Bauer cannot be beat! While we had hoped to have our wedding in 2020, the Bauer staff was completely understanding of our decision to postpone to the following year and were also extremely helpful in answering all of our questions, specifically around COVID safety protocols. We did not have to worry about a thing the day of our wedding, the Bauer staff took care of EVERYTHING and made sure the day ran seamlessly. We had a lot of family coming in from out of town and received so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was!
The Bride and the Bauer is such an amazing and romantic place to have your ceremony and reception!! The venue has great lighting for the romantic feel with great views of downtown. I love that my husband and I were able to get ready in separate rooms but still be in the same place, which made it easy for us to do our first look. Emily is amazing to work with and answered ALL of the questions that I had and trust me I had many!! The staff was also so wonderful to work with. Mingh was our staff member for the day and he did such an incredible job with helping us throughout the day and as also so NICE!! Our bartenders were also so friendly and kept everyone's drinks full! I would HIGHLY recommend this venue, you will not be disappointed.
My husband and I could not have been more thrilled with our experience with The Bride and The Bauer! The staff (particularly Emily!) were incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the process, and the venue itself is STUNNING. The brides' and grooms' rooms were a fantastic touch with extraordinary design finishes, and we loved that we had the flexibility to book our own caterer and arrive early with enough time to decorate. And the location is PHENOMENAL, a block from the KC Streetcar and surrounded by gorgeous industrial buildings with plenty of culture and personality! I cannot recommend this venue enough!

Taylor, you are the sweetest! So glad you had such a wonderful experience at The Bauer. We feel honored to have been a big part of your special day. We wish you and Alex all the best in this next chapter of your lives together!
The Bride in the Bauer is, in my opinion, the most beautiful and romantic setting for a wedding and reception in all of KC! My November 6th wedding ceremony and reception were truly incredible, and so much of that was being in a space my husband and I truly loved. The mix of city skyline and historic, beautiful interior (with gorgeous lighting as well!) made for a spectacular evening we will never forget. We also got so many compliments from our guests for such a unique and beautiful venue to spend the evening in (and lovely bartenders!). My husband and I also loved that we had a bridal and grooms suite to get ready in with our loved ones. Emily was wonderful to work with and helped us make the evening go so smoothly. She and the rest of the Bauer staff were so flexible and understanding in our 3 different wedding dates while pandemic wedding planning. I would highly recommend the Bauer for any KC bride and groom to be! You will NOT regret it!

The Bride and the Bauer was a dream venue for our wedding! The staff was SO friendly, the location was ideal and we loved how historic the building was. Not only is the inside of the Bauer to die for, the view is unlike any other. I couldn't reccomend this place enough to fellow brides! Pro tip- if you need a planner, use ie design house- they are pros at the bauer and will make your wedding seamless!

Thank you so much for the review Sophia! We loved being involved in your big day, and you can bring KC Wolf by anytime you want! Congratulations to you both, and thanks again for choosing The Bauer!!!!
The absolute BEST venue. We had a small ceremony in April and just had our reception in September. A beautiful space with amazing people who work there. Could not go wrong with this venue at all.

The Bauer was the absolute perfect venue for our wedding. The space is incredible and so versatile to each couple's vision. The view of downtown makes such a gorgeous backdrop, and watching the city lights come on as you party the night away is truly magical. The location is also incredibly convenient to so many hotels in the area, making it easy for people to get to and from the venue.
From the start, every single person we worked with was helpful and so responsive. Though I hope other couples don't have to experience the same, they were so flexible and understanding when we had to postpone our June 2020 wedding due to COVID.
Emily was amazing and helped provide insights that made our vision a reality. She answered all of my big and little questions in a timely manner and reassured my bride-brain that things would go well. The event staff day-of was also wonderful and I know they helped make our day totally perfect. The bar staff was so friendly and everyone loved how our signature cocktails turned out. Cannot say enough great things about this space and the people who make it so special! A true gem.

Chelsea!
Thank You so much for such a great review! We loved working with you and Sean! You are the sweetest most beautiful couple, and we are so glad you had such a good experience with us! The least we could do is be flexible during such ...
a difficult time for planning a wedding. You went about all the changes and regulations and remained calm with smiles on your faces through it all! Thank you for choosing The Bauer for your wedding venue!!!!
Absolutely perfect! We had to reschedule because of Covid and they were so helpful and kind during the process! Their staff is great and it is a beautiful venue with a gorgeous view of the kc skyline! Definitely met our romantic vibe wedding! Would definitely recommend!

Thanks so much Julia! So glad you had a good experience. You were such a gorgeous bride!!! We are glad we got to help celebrate!
We absolutely loved hosting our wedding at The Bauer! We initially were booked for June 2020 and postponed to December 2020 and had no issues changing dates. They were extremely accommodating and understanding. Due to COVID guidelines for our postponed date, we went from having a 150 person guest list to around 35. Emily and the staff at The Bauer went above and beyond to help us submit a mitigation plan to the health department so we could have more than 10 guests and ensure we were following the guidelines. All of our guests felt safe and thankfully, no one got sick. We all had a wonderful day and didn't feel like we were missing out because it wasn't the traditional wedding we planned on. Not to mention, the venue is gorgeous, no matter what time of year. We highly recommend The Bauer for your wedding!

rate with your closest family and friends! Congratulations!!!!
We got married here in October and it was perfect!!! The staff was very helpful and answered all of my questions promptly, even as we had to replan several times with COVID. They worked with us on our bar choices and our dream sparkler exit. We got so many compliments on the space and the view, we were so thrilled with our choice. We'd definitely recommend!!!

Sarah, thanks so much for your kind words, and we sure are glad we got to be a part of your big day! Thanks so much for choosing The Bauer, and recommending us to other couples in KC!!!
WOWZA!!! We cannot say enough great things about The Bride and The Bauer. First off, you just can't beat that GORGEOUS VIEW. Seriously. We looked at other venues in the Crossroads and nothing else compared. From the moment we found them online, we knew that this is the place we would start our forever. Leading up the the big day we were constantly in contact with Ashlee and Chelsey and they were so helpful in answering every single question that we had -- even the silly tiny ones! They were organized & accommodating, allowing us to come in and tour with other vendors (caterer, family members, coordinator) many times to get our ducks in a row. Day of, the staff were so helpful to our guests, coordinator, and the wedding party helping whenever they could and keeping everything running smoothly. As far as we know, nothing went wrong on our wedding day and that is largely thanks to the Bauer staff going above and beyond. We loved that this venue was well within our average price range (Not too high, not too low) and offered such an open vendor policy (other than alcohol). This allowed us to hand pick vendors that meant a lot to us and made our day so personalized. You will not regret choosing them as your venue!
Thank you, The Bride and The Bauer for helping us make 11.24.19 the most magical day for us!
The Bride and the Bauer was the perfect venue for our wedding and both Ashlee and Chelsey were a pleasure to work with! From the moment we walked in, we knew it was going to be the place we said “I do.” Between the beautiful exposed brick, fun bride and groom’s rooms, and gorgeous skyline view, the venue made for an unforgettable night. Mitch and I wanted a wedding that was timeless and classy without feeling stuffy, and the Bauer fit the bill. It’s a space that can be dressed up or down easily because it’s already so beautiful all on its own. The staff made everything run smoothly from planning to exits, so all we had to worry about was having the best day of our lives. Seriously, when I say Ashlee and/or Chelsey answered every single silly question I had, I mean they answered them all. Thank you to the Bride and the Bauer team for a wonderful experience and magical wedding!
Working with Chelsey and Ashlee was one of the best parts of our wedding planning. Both of them were so kind, professional, and fun to work with. It was easy breezy from the first meeting to the last! Everything went perfectly on our wedding day. The staff was so helpful the entire day. We got so many compliments on the venue with the beautiful view and unique design. So pleased we went with a The Bauer and hope we get to visit again soon for other events!
The Bride and the Bauer was an amazing venue. THANK YOU the Bride and the Bauer staff for all your hard work and help. Since we were planning our wedding from out of town, the Bride and the Bauer made the process easy and painless. From their virtual walkthrough and electronic booking, we were able to do everything from out of state. Furthermore, the Bauer keeps their social media updated and sends out these fantastic newsletters with updates. These were so helpful in inspiration in planning for our wedding and keeping updated on any changes. The week of the wedding, everything ran so smoothly. We met with the space to make sure we were aware of everything! When we arrive day of everything was perfect, the staff was super helpful with any questions and just lovely. This event space is amazing and really breathtaking!
I fell in love with this space after seeing it on first fridays. I knew I wanted to tour and both my fiancé and I thought this was the place we would decide on. I love the aesthetic with exposed brick and view of the city. This venue is gorgeous as is, and wouldn’t need a lot of decorating. After touring however, I decided the cons outweighed the pros and did not book.
Cons:
-Only has a service elevator located in the very back
-way too few of bathrooms (and honestly outdated and kind of ugly)
-tables and chairs not included in the rental unlike all the other venues I toured in the crossroads (and they were honestly the worst looking ones I’d seen) I would have been okay paying extra for nice looking chairs/tables. I could have got some from a rental company but that was another headache I didn’t want to deal with on the big day
-would need to flip from ceremony to reception all by ourselves or hire someone
Pros:
-beautiful as is, wouldn’t need a lot of decorating
-private bridal and groom suite that were adorable
- open vendor policy (but had preferred list)
-view of the city
-nice space for cocktail hour that was extra

Thanks for your feedback. We're grateful to be able to take into consideration peoples' responses to our space -- both the good and bad. The combo of our "patina" and our spectacular view are two (of many) reasons so many couples choose our spa...
ce as their wedding venue! We're sorry that not all of our amenities were to your liking, but we would like to humbly clarify (for anyone reading this review that may be considering The Bauer)...
-Yes, our historic, counter-weight, pulley-system freight elevator is big enough to provide "service" to vendors (and renters) that are appreciative of its size and ability to load a huge amount of things onto it at once. It also gives any people who get to ride it an ability to see the history of the building and has, on many, many occasions, been the backdrop to some of our most touching, romantic, unique wedding photos!
-We provide feedback forms to renters after every single event, and have never had one complaint about the capacities of our multi-stalled, multi-sink restrooms and their ability to accommodate our maximum number of guests. We also painted, stained and decorated them (e.g., pink-wash stain + vintage pendant lights in the women's restroom) when we renovated our entire building just over five years ago. We're sorry that they came across to you as "outdated" and "ugly," and we'll take that into consideration as we aim to consistently improve our offerings.
-The Bauer prides itself on being able to provide our space to renters who have an array of budgets. One of the ways we thoughtfully do that is by renting out our furniture separately. Whether it's because someone is trying to save money and would like to go with our less costly options (or the alternative -- going all out) or they'd like to bring in furniture that isn't included in our inventory (such as farm tables or chiavari chairs), we're happy to be able to provide that choice to our renters instead of including it. And we're hopeful that our base rental fee reflects that money-saving ability.
-It's true that The Bauer doesn't provide a room flip service, but we also don't charge a mandatory "ceremony fee" (which is the same as a room-flip fee). As most caterers provide room flips, and as many renters are utilizing a day-of Coordinator -- not to mention the pre-planning benefits of the Floor Plan Packet that we provide upon booking (which includes a scaled map and movable furniture shapes to create flexible room layouts in advance) -- the transitions from ceremony to reception are historically seamless ones.
Thanks, again, for your feedback, and best wishes as you land on your ideal space!
My husband and I got married at The Bauer this weekend, and we highly recommend! We had both our ceremony and reception here. It’s such a beautiful space - you don’t need to bring in many decorations at all and you’ll still get great photos. There’s tons of natural light, and our photographers appreciated the large windows. Plus the view of the city is really cool. One thing we loved was that there’s a bride’s AND groom’s room, both adorable. We liked that they provided us with a key to the bride’s room so we could lock up our valuables and not have to worry. We also loved the extra “Parlor” room which was perfect for our cocktail hour during the room flip in the main room. They do require that you use their bar / bartenders, but that honestly saved us a lot of time and work, and they have multiple packages to choose from, plus the glassware they have is super classy. Chelsey and Ashley were helpful and accommodating throughout the process, and even welcomed us to come back and see the space when they weren’t there if we needed to. Some of our older guests felt the music was too loud, maybe because of the sound bouncing off the concrete walls, but it could have just been that our band was rocking too hard for them :) Either way, we didn’t mind, and had a great time.
I just had my wedding here this past weekend. I was born and raised in KC but went to school out of town. So when we were searching for a venue, I knew I had to find a place that really embodied KC for me because I had done nothing but hype up how awesome it is here the whole time I was abroad. The Bride and the Bauer was really a perfect fit for that because of the great view of downtown and the character of the building and location. The colorful, wedding day vibe it puts off is exactly what I hoped to find and I'm confident that my guests were charmed by the atmosphere it presents. And let's not forget to mention the friendly staff before, during and after our event! Very well organized, no surprises with costs/policies and very supportive and helpful.
This venue was the only one I viewed but as soon as I did, I was confident it was the one and looked no further. If you're looking for that hip Crossroads KC feel with classy architecture, exposed brick and hardwood floors, a great view and a great group of people running the place: look no further. This is it.
This is the venue to end all venues (at least in my opinion). The staff is WONDERFUL, the space is STUNNING, and the ambiance is everything you could wish for and more. With beautiful views of downtown Kansas City, and a rustic/industrial/romantic fusion inside the walls, The Bride and The Bauer is perfect for so many events!!! We were recently married in the space and I can’t speak highly enough about the experience as a whole. Everyone at the Bauer was super helpful (leading up to and on the day of the wedding) but not only were they helpful, they were simply lovely and especially kind. In addition, I was (and will always be) in love with the aesthetics of the Bauer event space. With a dreamy bride’s room, a spacious grooms room, and the prettiest event space – there is nothing to leave you wanting – not to mention the lighting!! (Both natural and romantic string lights to boot!) Book the Bauer – you won’t regret it!! & Shout out to Chelsey and Ashlee – who were there for me through every question during the wedding planning process!! <3
We couldn’t be more thrilled that we chose The Bride and Bauer as our wedding venue! It is truly a beautiful space with fantastic people who care a great deal about the space and your big day! We loved everyone we met and worked with throughout the wedding process and they made everything very simple and easy! They did a fantastic job problem solving through some of the questions we had on the layout of the space and were very accommodating for some other special needs we had due to us having a New Year’s Eve Wedding. We had a guest list of 200 and everything fit perfectly with doing an Oscar style ceremony (no room flip) and then just moving a few tables for the reception. All of our guests continue to talk about how beautiful our wedding was and the photos are absolutely stunning! Both the Bride and Groom’s rooms are to die for and really make the day so special! I couldn’t image getting married anywhere else and it was more than I could have dreamed for!
This venue could not have been more perfect! Working with Chelsey & her crew took so many worries off our plate & made us feel genuinely cared for. The location & view sold me & the amazing service we received made it that much better. They offer so many services in house & will make sure their bridal parties are well taken care of. My wedding guests could not stop raving about the building & decor. Thank you to the Bauer for making my wedding dream come true!
This venue could not have been more perfect for us! We fell in love the second we walked in and couldn’t envision our day happening anywhere else. Chelsey was our main contact and was great to work with! We also worked a lot with Ashlee who was the sweetest! I apologize for not remembering all the people who were there for our wedding day but everyone was fantastic!!
If I could give this venue 10,000+ stars, I would. My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Bauer just last week, and we couldn't be happier with our experience there. From the time we booked the space for our reception back in February 2018 to the night of our reception, all of the staff members there were so helpful and the communication with them was always stress-free and helpful. We can't thank Chelsey, Ashlee, Dante, and Israel enough for helping to make our entire experience at The Bauer one that we will always remember and be grateful for. And to all of the other staff members that helped out the night of our wedding reception, thank you. We know there was a small army taking on the task of making the space look perfect and flawless behind the scenes so that we didn't have to worry about much. We can't thank you guys enough and we will be dreaming about our wedding reception forever! To all of those future brides out there, if you have your wedding ceremony or reception or any other event at The Bauer, I promise that you will not be disappointed in any way!!!

Ohmygoodness, Brittany, we LOVED hosting you, and we'll be sure to pass all your love onto our team. xoxo!
Getting married at The Bauer was an absolute dream come true! First off, you cannot find a more beautiful event space in KC- you could literally do the bare minimum on decor (like I did) and it would still be beautiful. It has the cutest brides and grooms room onsite, Italian bulbs hanging on the ceiling, exposed brick walls, perfect lighting, view of downtown, a beautiful old wooden elevator and cool little details everywhere you look! Perfect venue for a ceremony to reception room flip because it has a separate Parlor space. (Hello no travel logistics and more time for cocktails!) Secondly, their staff is AMAZING! The day of, multiple guests gave me praise on how great our assigned staff was- shout out to Dante!!! And Chelsea and Ashlee were great resources prior to our big day - I went to the venue multiple times to walk through things with both of them and they were always so friendly and helpful. The Bauer gives you a phone number to text if you need anything at all during your wedding day that we shared with everyone and it was super convenient. Lastly, their little ally way is the perfect location for pictures and a sparkler send-off! I highly recommend getting married at The Bauer! It will be the best day ever (I promise)!!!
The Bride and the Bauer was the perfect spot for us and it was the first place that we both walked in and smiled because we knew it was right. We could picture our evening there! It also was affordable compared to some venues in town! The staff was top notch and had all of our details perfectly worked out. The day went so smoothly and everything was just as we wanted it to be! The only small complaint we had was that the parlor room got pretty hot in the west setting sun (yes, it was also in August in Kansas City) during the cocktail hour, but the staff brought up fans and did everything they could to make sure our guests were comfortable! We had 200 guests (reception only, ceremony off-site) and it was cozy but not uncomfortable. Plenty of room for everyone and everything we wanted, including a live band. I would highly recommend!!
This venue was incredible from its looks to their friendliness and their organization! This venue was beautiful and was perfect for our special day! I would highly recommend!
I could not have asked for a better space for my wedding reception. The Bauer venue in and of itself is beautiful, and not many decorations are needed! The wide open space, views of downtown, the parlor for cocktail hour and the incredibly helpful and warm staff made our wedding day everything we wanted. Definitely the best urban wedding venue in KC!!
What a beautiful space! And the coordinators are an absolute pleasure to work with! They are not cheap, but it is a stunning venue, and they are pet friendly!!!
I first found The Bauer by chance when my husband and I first started dating, aaaaall the way back in high school. I was dreaming about our imaginary future wedding (as girls do lol) and thought I should scour Pinterest to find my dream venue. I saw a picture of the pretty fairy lights at The Bauer, and I pinned it to my secret "serious" wedding board, with a caption about how that was going to be my wedding venue. Fast forward four years later when we were actually engaged and looking for a venue, and I've seen every urban venue in KC, just not quite all the way happy with anything... until I remembered The Bauer. We toured and booked in the same day, I just knew it was the place, and Chelsey was so nice and accommodating. Come wedding day, the whole space was perfect. The lighting was amazing with all those gorgeous windows, all of the tables and chairs were set up before we even arrived at 9 am, and our guests couldn't stop talking about our beautiful, unique venue. Although the venue was at the top of our budget for location, it was worth every penny having our wedding in the absolute perfect place. Couldn't be happier with how everything turned out, thank you so much to the whole team at The Bauer for making our day so perfect!
We had our wedding reception at The Bauer in April and it was everything and more!! All the staff at The Bauer are absolutely AMAZING and helped make our day absolutely perfect. Chelsey was willing to meet with us any time to discuss questions or to let us in to see the space as many times as we wanted. We could not have picked a better place to host our reception. And the skyline views are to die for!!
Can't say enough good things about this venue! Throughout much of the planning process, we were living out-of-state, yet the Bauer made things simple and were very accommodating (my husband wasn't able to be there when I booked the space, but Chelsey very kindly let us into the Bauer several months later when he was in town, just so he could see it before the wedding!). If you're looking for a KC wedding venue, particularly one with an urban loft vibe, look no further. You also get the space for 12 hours, where other venues would charge the same price for only 6 hours of use - I don't know how we could've done it without the generous time frame! I worked with Chelsey, who was wonderful, flexible, and very personable, and found their other staff on the day to be great, with one exception. Israel, who we had never encountered before, was somewhat rude in trying to get us to leave as quickly as possible on the wedding night (it was 11:30pm and we were the last four people in the building, including vendors), though we had the space booked until midnight. Barring this, the Bauer was easily one of our favorite vendors throughout the process, and we both loved working with their staff and renting their beautiful space! 10/10 would book with them again, no hesitation!
Oh how we love the Bauer. I had a specific look in mind when we went looking for venues. We looked all over KC and couldn’t find what we wanted. When we finally happened upon the Bauer both my now husband and I knew it was the place for us! We had the best night ever dancing the night away at the Bauer. And Chelsey was so easy to work with. She was accommodating, helpful and kind throughout the whole process- thank you!
We got married at The Bauer and we are so happy that we chose this as our venue. From the amazing staff to the romantic ambiance, you will not be disappointed. We were able to have our ceremony and reception and the room flip went very smoothly. I cannot say enough about how amazing this space is.
We LOVED our wedding at the Bauer! When I first visited the event space, I fell in love with how beautiful everything is from the lights to the wood and brick. The grooms suite and the bridal suite might be my favorite rooms- so cute! The view of downtown at night is gorgeous and the getaway in the alley is so fun and makes for great pictures. I was worried about our guest list being too large and not being able to fit but Chelsey was very helpful and kind in answering lots of questions and making me feel better. It's also nice that you can choose your own vendors for everything else like food and alcohol. The perfect space! The only con I saw was that it seems to be a little tricky getting vendors in and out with the slow freight elevator- so book people that know the space! We had no issues with this but I know it was a thing we had to talk to our vendors about to make sure they could get in and out on time.
The Bauer was THE place to have a wedding reception! The interior is so gorgeous with the exposed brick, big windows, and awesome views of downtown Kansas City! It is so artsy and adorable, and gave the exact feel of the day we wanted! The space is divided into two sections which was perfect for when guests wanted to step away from the music and dancing. It also made for the perfect cocktail hour so we could pass out appetizers and drinks.
The folks working there are absolutely amazing and such a joy to work with! I highly recommend working with the Bauer to host people for your special day. Again, words cannot describe how absolutely breathtaking that venue is!
The Bauer was the second venue we toured. After seeing the space, we cancelled all of our appointments. We immediately knew this was where we wanted to get married. With string bulbed lights, beautiful hardwood floors and exposed brick, every detail is stunning. The setting is cozy and intimate. The bridal suite and groom's room are just the best, and you can't beat the view of the Kansas City skyline. It rained on our wedding day, but we didn't even notice. Fairy tale weddings happen at the Bauer.
Chelsey and Ashlee are professionals. They are so responsive and genuinely care about your wedding day. No detail was overlooked. We really enjoyed working with both of them.
Things to consider: this is a high demand space. Booking a year out or less will be challenging. The staff does not assist with room flips, but we did Oscar-style seating and it worked perfectly. Rehearsing in the space the day before your wedding is an additional cost so we did it the day of (which was kind of chaotic, but it worked). Accessing the space early and not getting out on time will also cost you extra. But hey, that's business.
We loved the Bauer. It is hands down the best wedding venue in Kansas City.
My husband and I looked at several places to have our wedding, but when I walked into the Bauer, I knew it was the one. It is such a beautiful venue with an incredible view of downtown and it didn't break the bank like several of the other local venues. Our guests were totally blown away the space -- several of them came up to me throughout the night to tell me just that. We worked with Chelsey throughout the process and she was wonderful. Very responsive to our questions and concerns, and she was readily available if we wanted to pop in to show off the venue to our family and friends. On the day of the wedding, the staff was great. Everyone was on hand and available to help our vendors and guests throughout the day/night. I highly recommend the Bauer for future events!
What a fabulous venue!!! My husband and I were married here last April and loved everything about this place. The staff went above and beyond the day of to ensure everything was perfect. They were able to answer all questions, and were wonderful leading up to the wedding as well. You could not find a more perfect venue in Kansas City. The skyline view is remarkable and the space has such great natural lighting for photos. They have the cutest rooms for the bride and groom that also made great pictures as the wedding party was getting ready. The building has so much character, in fact we still have guests from our wedding raving about what a beautiful day it was. I would highly recommend this venue to all couples in KC looking for an artsy, dreamy, whimsical, gorgeous space, with character, warm lighting and a beautiful view of the city.
This was my DREAM venue! But I was even more impressed by getting the dream team as well!! Ashely + Chelsey are the sweetest around, so helpful + thoughtful throughout the entire process. They were professional, + fun! The night of the event the staff was clean, classy, + punctual - which is every bride's dream on their wedding, amirite?? My family + friends loved the space - & the freight elevator made setup, tear down, + getting my grandparents to the ceremony space so easy. My photos turned out lovely too, with so much lightening available through those windows. The space has such a fun personality that you can really bring any style into it. I would pick this venue + staff again and again if I had to do it all over again!
THE BEST!!
Everything was seamless and we felt supported through the whole process.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful this venue is! Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the space was; and the views of the city really helped us show off KC to our out-of-towners. The bride and groom's suites were perfect to finish getting ready and relax before the ceremony. Chelsey is the sweetest human and truly cares about each and every bride. She answered all of my questions consistently and promptly, making me feel calm and at ease that everything would be amazing. She also helped me with ideas on decor, linens, and other details. We absolutely loved our experience and will always have amazing memories thanks to the Bauer!
We absolutely LOVED The Bauer and are so glad we chose to host our wedding here!
My husband and I met in Kansas City but we now live out-of-state. So when planning our KC wedding, we wanted to find a venue that really captured the essence of the city. The fact that it's in a historic building, in the heart of the city, and with a gorgeous view of downtown made The Bauer the perfect space for us. Plus, it's located around the corner from where we had our first date!
The space is so unique and beautiful and it didn't need a lot of decor. I only wish we could've extended the celebration even longer!
The staff at The Bauer is great to work with, too. Chelsey was so sweet and accommodating throughout the entire planning process. She also offered so much wedding-day advice.
Our wedding was beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue. We highly recommend this space!
The perfect place for our reception. Coming from an event planning background, working with the staff at the Bauer was amazing. They were incredibly helpful, flexible, and responsive. The space itself is gorgeous and allowed us to save money on alcohol, decour, etc. We were able to take the most beautiful pictures there and have an amazing reception. Our day was absolutely amazing and would not have been the same without this venue.
Our wedding day would not have been complete without the amazing crew at The Bride and the Bauer! From putting on my dress in the bridal suite, to seeing each other for the first time in the elevator, to saying our I Dos, to our first dance as husband and wife under the beautiful lights as the sun was setting, to dancing the night away with the KC skyline in the background, and ending with a sparkler send off down the side alley under the glow of the twinkling lights! We looked at multiple venues before walking into the bauer, and we knew right away it was the perfect place for us. Chelsey was an amazing resource to have as I planned our wedding from 2 hours away! Even as new challenges popped up, the entire staff worked with us to make sure the day of our wedding, everything was perfect. They worked with me to organize the entire night, and if anything went wrong, I don't know a thing about it! :) the staff that night helped coordinate with my mom and matron of honor so everything went smoothly, from vendor set up all the way through to clean up at the end of the night. I wouldn't have changed a thing about that day, and the Bride and the Bauer made our day perfect! I would recommend them to anyone planning anything, and if you choose to get married here like us, you will enjoy looking at your pictures for the rest of your lives!
The best event space in Kansas City! The Bauer is such a stunning space with great staff and the location is unbeatable. We did our rehearsal dinner in the space as well and it was absolutely perfect. Would HIGHLY recommend.
They were with us every step of the way! From recommending budget-friendly caters, to setting up the venue, to handling sound system issues the night of, this venue is one of Kansas City's best for a reason!
The Bauer was the absolute perfect location for our wedding. It was seriously magical having our ceremony after dark with the string lights and the city twinkling in the background! Not to mention Chelsey was extremely helpful and easy to work with! I would recommend the Bauer to anyone looking for an intimate and beautiful space!
This review is a long time coming. My cousin just booked her upcoming wedding at the Bauer - after my wife and I kept telling her how incredible it was. So I figured I'd give the Bauer the props it deserves!
We were married there about two years ago and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. It's an epic venue with an easily accessible location, cool setup options, and an amazing downtown view. We are already talking about renewing our vows at 5 years, and we'll be doing it at the Bauer!
The day was made sweeter and cooler by this place. Our family and friends raved about it all night (and do so still).
Bottom line: Outstanding choice. We were incredibly pleased.
Hands down one of the coolest spaces in Kansas City. From our initial tour with Chelsea (very helpful and nice) to the event itself, the entire experience was awesome. Probably the best aspect other than the location is the parlor which has high ceilings, hardwood floor, cool vintage-style interior, and huge windows looking out over the crossroads and downtown KC. For just a little extra you can also rent a big extra room for a cocktail hour/guest mingling/photos, etc. I can't count how many comments we received on how cool this venue was. Great location, great venue, great time. Five stars!

After touring the facility, I can say the space is unique and rustic. It has great potential. One thing I found frustrating was how many ways in which they nickel and dime you. Additionally, the tour guide was incredibly rude to my fiancée and myself when we asked about what was included in the rental space. I was told, and I quote... "If you don't enjoy planning every detail of your wedding, this is not the venue for you." All I asked was if linen were included. I immediately took that venue off my list. Pretty evident they think very highly of their space and did not want to be helpful. Hard pass, here.
My husband and I looked at 5 other reception venues before the Bauer. I was trying to save the best for last and it worked, because it was the first one that he really loved. The staff at the Bauer is incredibly welcoming and very helpful with any questions that you have. We loved that they had an opening catering and bar policy that allowed us to choose whatever we wanted. They were very easy to work with and the staff that was present on the wedding day was incredibly helpful, as we had several of our vendors comment that this may have been the easiest venue that they had ever worked at. The venue itself is beautiful from the wood floors to the exposed brick in addition to the adorable bride's room and groom's room that make for wonderful getting ready photos. Also, you can't really beat the view for pictures with the beautiful windows that face downtown and have the string lights reflecting in them at night. Our pictures in the event space on our wedding day are beautiful and we could not have picked a better place for our reception.
I would recommend the Bride and the Bauer to any one! The event space is absolutely gorgeous and overlooks a beautiful KC view towards Power and Light. The event coordinators and staff are more than helpful and will do anything to make sure your day is perfect. Just be sure to book far in advance, as they do fill up quickly!
We absolutely adore this venue! The string lights, walls with character, wood floors and large windows facing downtown make this venue so unique and charming. It was perfect to accommodate our reception of 200 guests. The groom's room and bride's room were great for getting changed prior to the wedding. We used the parlour area for the cocktail hour/photo booth and main area for dinner and dancing.
They gals at The Bauer are fabulous. Very professional, easy to work with and knowledgeable. We liked being able to choose our own vendors. Everything worked out smoothly and we were very happy with our choice to hold our reception at The Bauer!
We just had our reception at the Bauer and it was absolutely wonderful!! Everything we could have asked for and more. My guests kept telling us how awesome they thought the space was and they had never been to a wedding like this before. It really made me smile how much the guests enjoyed this beautiful space. Chelsey Davidson was also a delight to work with, she made everything super easy. We felt very relaxed after speaking with her and knew immediately everything would be wonderful. She also referred us to our day of planner, who were also equally wonderful! Thank you, Thank you the Bauer for making our day so special=) Justine & Ben
I wanted to make sure to thank Ashlee and everyone at The Bauer because our wedding was so amazing and so perfect! I didn't get a chance to talk to Brent very much during the day, but my mother-in-law said he was supremely helpful.
Ashlee, I was so worried before our final meeting, I felt like I was miles from being ready, but you had wonderful input and really put my mind at ease. Everything thing went exactly as according to plan, which still kind of astonishes me.
The space is so beautiful, people complemented it all night. We kept decorations relatively minimal, but it all seemed so rich and lovely, which was 99% due to the look of the venue. People asked if we had hired a wedding planner, which made me laugh since Peter's in a PhD program and I'm in med school, so there was barely a planner at all, let alone a professional. The Bauer really impressed our guests and made us look good. But most importantly, we loved it, and I loved celebrating our wedding there!
Everyone we worked with, particularly Ashlee and Lane who answered all our emails, were so quick to response, and also warm and helpful, it really made the whole planning experience easy and fun!
Our day was so perfect and amazing, I can't stop marveling over how well everything turned out, especially because we planned from out of town. I also feel like our wedding was so great it spurred the Royals on to their championship, which we were able to watch on the airplane back.
We loved working with Lane at The Bride and the Bauer! She was so helpful and made us feel so welcome. Loved having our choice of food and alcohol for our reception and the view is AMAZING! 100% recommend this space for any event!
Easy to work with. Lane and Ashlee were very informative and helpful. All of our guests were impressed by the event space and the staff was wonderful to work with. We would definitely do another event here.
I first saw this space during a First Fridays event in the Crossroads Arts District. When I got engaged, it was my number one choice for a reception venue. From the very beginning Lane and the rest of the staff were more than helpful. The owner, Jeff, even amped up security by installing security cameras, a locked cabinet in the bride's room, and extra security guards during the event after hearing about some friends' weddings that had gotten gifts stolen at their reception. He was more than willing to accommodate our requests. The venue itself is beautiful- very rustic, vintage, and industrial, and the view of downtown from the windows is no less than amazing! I loved that they provided us the flexibility to bring in our own caterer and other vendors but still allowed us to rent tables and chairs from them, which was one less thing to worry about. The Bride's room and Groom's room are awesome and provide a great space for hanging out and taking pictures with the bridal party. All of my guests loved both the location and feel of the the venue and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and romantic space!
My husband and I knew the first time we walked into the Bauer that we would celebrate our wedding there. It is a beautiful event space in the Crossroads and it has an excellent view of both downtown and midtown (in their Parlour space). We loved the flexibility we had with the space - we could bring in our own vendors, we could rent our tables/chairs/bars from them, and we could have a great party in their large 3rd floor space. The space itself is so unique with strands of cafe lights from the ceiling & interesting details on the walls. We loved the "bride" and "groom" rooms which were a great place to refresh and get ready. They were incredible easy to work with and will help make your dream day come true. We love the Bauer!
We recently got married at this charming venue in the crossroads. The staff was very helpful and punctual, and followed through with everything that they said, including setting up our furniture and helping between the ceremony and reception (both at the Bauer). They also have an accessory "Parlour" room that is perfect for a cocktail hour in between. It is an affordable, hidden gem with a great view.
