We recently worked with the team at The Colonnade to host our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner in October 2023, and we were thrilled with the results.
The staff was professional and attentive throughout the event. They were ready to go as soon as the bridal party arrived from the ceremony rehearsal, even though we arrived a few minutes early. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and we added some cannoli and coffee for dessert to top off the night.
We also hosted our October 2023 wedding at POSH (a second venue owned by the same parent company), and there is no doubt in our mind that we chose the right venue.
Josh (the owner, and on-site event coordinator) made the planning process seamless. His years of experience in hosting weddings and other large-scale events were evident as he guided us through the event logistics. Josh is very easy to work with, accommodating, reasonable, and organized.
On the day of the event, Josh and his team were great to work with. They were attentive to every detail and handled everything that came up last-minute (there’s always something!).
We got many compliments from our guests on the food, the beauty of the building, and the waitstaff. The appetizers were wonderful, the dinner was delicious, the space allowed for great pictures, and the waitstaff worked in teams like you find in fancy restaurants. It made us feel important and took pressure off of us and our bridal party on our wedding day.
Thank you to Josh and the rest of the team at POSH and The Colonnade, for making our wedding weekend an unforgettable experience for us and our guests.
We booked our rehearsal dinner at The Colonnade. Josh was responsive and kind. Paul was attentive and present the night of. This historic building is stunning and has so much character. The food was also incredibly delicious. We’re beyond impressed with how seamless the evening was and how lovely both Josh and Paul were to work with!
This was our reception venue and everything went wonderfully. The staff was great, everything we requested was handled beautifully we had such a fantastic time that last call was a genuine surprise for everyone. Lala is an absolute treasure and she made sure that we had everything we needed. While we had a general view of what we wanted, the staff took our ideas and stepped them up to the next level. All the guests are still raving weeks later about how great it was.
I used this venue for my bridal Shower and it was a perfect day. Paul was on site and took care of our every need. They did a display for my gifts and he had a list typed up for me before I left of what each guest gave as a gift, which made writing thank you notes a whole lot easier. The food and drinks were delicious. Paul also designed the center pieces which were beautiful and went along with my wedding vision.
We had our wedding reception at "Posh at the Scranton Club" which has the same owners and it was the best decision. Josh and Paul took care of every little detail and we had the best day!
We just had our wedding reception at The Colonnade. It was perfect! Josh was so wonderful at helping us plan. We are from the NEPA area but planned our wedding from Virginia. Josh was so flexible to meet with us when we were in the area and plan from long distance when needed. Wedding day went flawlessly. The house manager Lala is AMAZING! She was so on top of everything and checked in with the groom and I to ensure everything was moving along as we desired. The venue is so incredibly gorgeous. The suite included in our package was FLAWLESS and perfect for getting ready photos. I highly recommend this venue for your wedding. Also, if you are looking for off-site catering, go with The Colonnade!! The food is amazing!! High quality, beautiful presentation, and so delicious. Not to mention, the chef worked with us to craft a few meals for the gluten free and vegetarians at our wedding (me being one!). Five stars doesn't cover how please I am with our experience!! To address previous reviews, I had a very easy time getting in touch with Josh. He was quick to respond to email. My wedding reception bill was split between 2 different families and they managed to mediate this without any issues.
My in-laws also hosted our rehearsal at POSH and it was awesome!!!!!
Beautiful venue. The Rooms decor was uniquely gorgeous and designed to amaze. Josh accommodated to every possible request. The Colonnade made my special day perfect. Thank You!
We absolutely recommend having your wedding at the Colonnade. We comfortably fit 99 people in the dining room, and every detail was just perfect. I was not a hands-on bride, so I left the flowers, decor, food, and cake up to Joshua and Paul. They did such an amazing job with everything that I could not have been happier. They were accommodating, understanding, and flexible, so I am sure if you did want to control the details they would be just as good about it. It was an awesome party, and would not have been so special without the help of the amazing staff and the owners of the Colonnade. The food was discussed the next day, and several guests cleaned the plates of their dates, it was soooo good. We also got the bridal suite for the night, which was just gorgeous and comfortable. I can't say enough about how amazing the service, food, and decor were for my wedding. Highly recommend this venue.
We hosted our wedding ceremony at The Colonnade. This was a first for Josh and Paul because they'd never had a ceremony without the reception at the Colonnade. They were very accommodating since they were also our caterer and florist. The ceremony was completely fabulous. Although they can be difficult to get in touch with, and you definitely need to follow up on the details when the event gets closer, Paul and Josh really were nice to work with and did everything they could to make our day fabulous.
They don't return phone calls or e-mails. Didn't listen to me what I wanted. Went over everything with them 5 times and they still got things wrong. However, food was great and day of wedding was a hit. Venue is gorgeous and exclusive. It's also a great place for a small wedding.
It is a unique venue, which attracted me to it from the beginning. The house itself is beautiful. The waiting staff is always dressed professionally and willing to make your experience a good one. We had Valentine's Day dinner here and the food was delicious. The food was good at our wedding as well. The problem really came through in the planning process.
First off, we had 130 people at this venue. They advertise to have a max of 200. Please do not believe this. They say max 120 in the dining area, this is also not true. If you are to consider this for a wedding your guest list should be less than 100. 80 or less would probably fit best.
Next, Josh (one of the owners and wedding planners) is a yes man. He will tell you he will do this and that, and you will think he is on the same page as you. However, I found this to be the farthest from the truth. From our tasting to the day of, there were details missing. Maybe it was just a busy time, maybe they had too many bookings between their other venue and this one, but either way, my wishes were not followed through with. For example- the tent was not decorated with the decorations that I left. There were no high top tables as agreed on and he charged $250 for a "dance floor" that could literally fit two couples. Don't purchase this. Just use the cement floor that is available.
On the day of the wedding reception, Josh was no where to be found, even though I was told he would be there. There was a house assistant, but she had no itinerary for the day and was constantly asking me questions throughout the night on when to do what. It was ridiculous because this was previously decided and planned weeks beforehand. If Josh wasn't going to be there, he should have passed on this information to her.
In the end, things happened out of order and in the wrong spot. We didn't get an official cake cutting and our introductions were cut off by the packed dining room area. Both mistakes could have been easily avoided if the head of house knew what the timeline was.
On the positive side: Our guests told us the app's were delicious and the drinks were perfect.
Beware- if you do book with The Colonnade, they also made mistakes with our bill. Double check their work and make the last payment after the reception if possible.
The Colonnade was the most beautiful setting for our reception on 9/1/13. From the food to the decor, they did not go wrong with anything!! It was stunning, and if you are looking for a reception cite in Scranton, check out the Colonnade!!!
Beautiful location, incredible food, all services included if that's what you like! Easy to work with and very organized.
