I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Corinthian Ballroom, the owner (Victoria) and the staff. From the minute we stepped into this ballroom we fell in love. The room is absolutely stunning (especially at night with all the lights) and very well maintained. The food was out of this world delicious. Our guests are still talking about how good the food was. Victoria was wonderful to work with and helped me tremendously during all the planning. She was quick to respond to my emails (and endless questions) and offered advice that helped to make the planning less stressful. We met with Victoria before reserving the reception site and she went over all the costs that were associated with the catering and ballroom rental. Once we received our final invoice, everything was detailed and priced exactly as she said it would be during our initial meeting. It was also very reasonable compared to other venues of that size. We didn't finalize our menu until 2 weeks before the wedding, which was fine because we didn't have an accurate number of guests until then anyways. Once we gave her our final guest count, she had the menu sent over to us the next day. And she is such a talented chef that if there was something we wanted not on the menu all we had to do was let her know. I have read some of the negative reviews and wanted to post one about my experience so that others planning their wedding do not miss out on such a beautiful venue. Thank you Victoria and all the staff at The Corinthian Ballroom for making our reception everything I dreamed it would be and more!! Brandon & Ashley
Beautiful Space, Terrible OwnerReviewed on 7/08/2014 Sara B
I read the reviews about this place on multiple sites and many of them were negative, however, I loved the space. Beware! When we confronted the owner about the reviews (basically trying to clarify if we wanted to really go through with using the Corinthian) she told us that all the bad reviews came from 1 wedding, and that the people were difficult. This is not true. There were multiple bad reviews from multiple weddings in various years. The owner is difficult. She name drops and gives you a laundry list of what she's doing besides your wedding so that she can get away with putting things off. I hate writing a negative review, I do, especially since my vendors were all amazing except this one, there were so few positive things with my experience with this venue and its owner. My fiancé and I were in love with this space and booked it a year out from our date, with the owner promising us a beautiful set up, amazing food (you MUST use their catering), and other misc. things (champagne tower, moving particular tables, etc.). We did not get a draft menu until 1 month out from the wedding, and it was nowhere close to what we had originally discussed. Also, you do not get to taste any food beforehand. We did not get a finalized menu OR contract until 2 weeks before the wedding. Talk about stress. She doesn't write up a contract until the menu is finished, but she takes forever to do the menu. The owner was condescending when we spoke with her about the hidden costs and increased prices that she hadn't mentioned before, telling us "thats how its done in Roanoke." It was also 2 weeks before the wedding that she decided to tell us that she didn't want us doing a champagne tower and claimed she had never promised this. When we originally met with her she said her people had done towers all the time and it would be no problem, 2 weeks before the wedding her story changed saying her people had never attempted one. We ended up getting to do it but she complained to our planner that "it would never work." Why the negativity? (btw, it did work) She also forbade us to move particular tables in the ballroom to open up the space even though she promised this could be done earlier. She claimed we couldn't move the tables because the carpets were dirty underneath and she stored things under them. So plan on renting extra linens to cover these unmovable tables. She charges you to have the rental company and other vendors unload anything!! Thats what you're paying the rental company for! During set up you have to pay for the doorman (her husband) and an elevator attendant to be there to supervise. We ended up paying the piper (much more than we had originally discussed with her). The day of the wedding was beautiful because my planner/floral designer made it beautiful and smooth. Though she takes credit for the decor, she had nothing to do with it. The food was delicious but small portions for the amount of money paid. The bartenders over poured and we had guests overly intoxicated before cake was cut. We also had to fight for our leftover pastries and cake (neither of which she made). Its a beautiful space, its doable if you want it, just prepare to be stressed, spend 2x as much as planned, and deal with a difficult and rude owner.
Stunning venue and foodReviewed on 11/22/2011 Anna S
Great venue and a beautiful display of food. The owner/cater was not the greatest to work with....no commuincation at all. I understand she does wedding events alot, but this is my first wedding and some things I didnt know to ask....Overall - food was good and the venue was beautiful just be prepared to not have a great experience with the owner / cater
Pretty Room, Good FoodReviewed on 10/02/2011 Catherine C
The room is what sold me but really you don't want to have any more than 200 people in there- no matter what they tell you. They are also really expensive once you add in their little costs- cake cutting (I get), glass rental (maybe?), ice fee (What?!?)
