rs traveled from far, far away, we really wanted to use the occasion to welcome them to our home and give them a feel for what our lives are like. It goes without saying that planning an at-home wedding reception is no small feat, and we weren't sure if we could pull it off. When I initially contacted April at The Kept Nest, she responded with such excitement and enthusiasm, it made me feel confident about our vision and our ability to carry it out. I described our shabby-chic vision for our big day and sent her photos and measurements of our backyard and the other spaces we had planned to utilize. I was so pleased that April offered FREE design consultation. She replied in short order with suggestions on which items to use and where to place them. We had to create seating for about 40 guests, and her plan consisted of 5 unique seating areas using couches, upholstered chairs, a farm table and a spool top table with mismatched chairs. This created perfect lounge areas where people could just kick back, have a drink and enjoy conversation. The tables were great for guests who wanted to enjoy our food spread. April also enhanced our vision by suggesting soft candlelit elements. She scouted table-top lanterns specifically for our event and they were perfect! She even included high-quality candles which burned all night--at no extra charge! Her design plan included a "menu" of different items and really creative ideas, so we were able to pick and choose which items we wanted to use based on our budget. One of our favorite items was her "rusty chandelier", which we hung from our Japanese maple tree on our deck. What a unique touch! Her inventory includes everything you could possibly need for an event, so even our food and beverage stations matched our theme!
April was so responsive and flexible throughout the whole process. My husband and I had decided to pick-up and set-up the rentals on our own, so we rented a Uhaul and headed to Spring Grove. April and her husband had everything prepped and ready to go, which made the whole transaction a breeze.We had made arrangements to return the items the day after our wedding, and it was so nice to not be hassled by hidden fees and strict time frames.
Overall, we could not have asked for a more enjoyable experience with a wedding vendor. Everything went so smoothly and April really helped to make the process a whole lot of fun. Even weeks after the event, our guests are still raving about what a wonderful and unique atmosphere it was. Many, many thanks to The Kept Nest for helping to make our dream wedding come true!
