The Thursday Club

The Thursday Club is simply stunning and Chris is a dream to work with. We were so pleased with our experience and grateful for the eternal memories! We started the planning process from overseas and Chris was extremely accommodating with a FT tour, and provided detailed and clear information. He was wonderful to work with from start to end! The venue itself is picturesque, located in a quiet Point Loma neighborhood, with jaw dropping views from all around. Our guests loved the patios, especially at sunset. The garden area coupled with the unique building architecture is gorgeous, perfect for photos. Truly a special place! Thank you for everything, Chris!

Go visit and you will book this venue in a heartbeat. We loved this venue and our guests could not (and still cannot..) stop talking about how beautiful The Thursday Club is. We had originally ruled out The Thursday Club as it was not available on our preferred date, but after mentioning this to our realtor (Dawn Leahy, absolutely fantastic if you happen to be in the market; also a member at The Thursday Club), she insisted we visit, and she was right – we moved our date back to the only open weekend and it was worth it. Chris, who manages the venue, is an absolute joy to work with. He clearly loves his job, loves the venue, and loves the history and magic of The Thursday Club. The enthusiasm is infectious when you talk to him.

The beauty of The Thursday Club speaks for itself - the building itself has unique historical charm, the gardens are abundant with blooms and beauty, and the ocean view is absolutely stunning. In addition, the venue manager Chris is such a kind person who made sure everything was all in order for our day. We couldn’t be happier with the choice we made for our wedding venue, and are so happy we had the chance to celebrate our special day here.

The Thursday Club was a beautiful venue for our wedding. Chris was great to work with throughout. The garden with ocean views created a scenic backdrop for the ceremony, and the hall was beautiful for the reception. We especially enjoyed the different places people could hang out, whether it be dancing, the living room, or out in the patios. Such an amazing venue!!

We had our wedding at The Thursday Club at the end of March and wow - it was incredible! The building is rich in history, the garden is lush with foliage and the ocean views are breathtaking. All of our guests raved over the beauty of the property. Chris was such a pleasure to work with! He was attentive and kind at every meeting and in each email. He made us feel super comfortable and taken care of. Our day was absolutely perfect and we couldn’t have picked a better venue!

We found The Thursday Club by chance and knew immediately that it was the venue for us. Chris was so great to work with and our guests could not stop complimenting the location. The outdoor garden ceremony and the beautiful indoor reception made our day so perfect! The view of the Pacific Ocean was a plus!

We had *such* a wonderful experience having our wedding at the Thursday Club! The venue is so gorgeous inside and in the garden. Chris, the manager, was so helpful and generous through the several months leading to the wedding. He patiently answered our many questions, multiple site visits, and requests. He was very flexible and helpful. Throughout the reception and ceremony he was communicative, even brought the bridal party water, etc. We had such a lovely time and 10/10 would get married there again and recommend to others.

We got married at The Thursday Club on 2.26.22 and could not be happier with our venue choice! First of all, Chris is absolutely AMAZING to work with. Every interaction with him was enjoyable and his communication and willingness to answer any and all of our questions was so greatly appreciated. Now on to the view and venue...talk about breathtaking!!! Our guests were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the views. We loved the photo opps before at sunset cliffs, the gorgeous garden wedding, the beautiful decor/lighting and how clean and updated the venue is. We also got super lucky with a fantastic sunset on the night of our wedding. :) Before booking, the one concern we had was how early the venue closed as both sides of our families love to party but if that is holding you back, don't let it! It was the perfect amount of time and I promise it didn't feel at all like the night was being cut short or ending early. We planned an after party situation and looking back on it, we wish we would have saved ourselves the stress and time worrying about it ending too early so if you are like us- don't let that stop you from booking this place! I'd suggest just going back to your hotel bar afterward :) We viewed over 20 wedding venues and the views and Chris won us over and I'm so happy it did as our wedding was PERFECT!

Family and friends still talk about how beautiful The Thursday Club was. The venue is so versatile, it made for many opportunities for photos indoors, outdoors, and on the balcony. Having the ocean views in a quiet residential area made it even better! I particularly chose the venue for the white walls, chandeliers, the history, and the views. Tons of street parking. The manager Chris was so easy to work with and would always respond in a timely manner via email! Thank you to Chris for making the venue process more enjoyable!

I cannot recommend The Thursday Club enough! The venue is absolutely beautiful and encompasses the San Diego vibe. Incredible views and all! Chris is an absolute dream to work with too. We truly could not have picked a better wedding venue.

Sunset Cliffs has always been special to us. So when we found The Thursday Club we knew it was it!! The Manager Chris is so friendly and helpful. He gave us a tour and the view speaks for itself! When we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID, Chris was helpful, responsive and understanding. He quickly gave us new dates that were open within the year. This venue is magical. Ocean views, stained glass windows, lots of room for dancing, and it's perfect if you want to have your ceremony and reception at the same venue! Outdoor ceremony was a must for us. Guests enjoyed hanging out on the outdoor terrace during cocktail hour and watching the sunset!

Chris and The Thursday Club were a dream to work with. We first toured and booked the venue in early 2019 for a June 2020 wedding date, after falling in love with the incredible setting, views, and charm of the Club. It felt meant to be right away. When we made the decision to postpone our wedding due to the pandemic, Chris was an incredible guide through the process, showing us kindness, patience, and so much help as we changed our date. He was always quick to reply to our many questions via email, and took the time to chat over Zoom on multiple occasions. We always felt like we were in great hands with him, making us feel even more confident about our venue choice. When it finally happened, our wedding and reception went so smoothly, and all of our loved ones have commented over and over about just how stunning the Club was. For the price, we really feel like the venue and view is a steal. You do have to work off a list of their approved caterers, but they have a wide variety available for all budgets. Chris was a great help in providing recommendations for all vendors, and we actually did go with his suggestions for linens and coordination. As you might see or read in other reviews, the end time for weddings/receptions at the Club is 9pm, as it is set in a gorgeous residential area. We were totally fine with this, and it was actually a positive factor in our decision-making process. We've been to some weddings that felt like they went on just a little too long, but this end time felt like it fixed that problem. No one got too tired or too rowdy at the reception, and we had plenty of time for a post-wedding party with the "young" crowd afterwards. If you're looking for an insanely beautiful setting for your big day at a very reasonable price, and a wonderful venue manager to help you every step of the way, look no further than Chris and The Thursday Club.

Working with Chris at the Thursday Club was a joy! We booked this 14 months out and did 4-5 tours of it after booking to show friends and vendors and Chris was always accommodating. Then the pandemic hit....and unlike some vendors unwilling to work with us the Thursday Club WAS AMAZING. The venue was flexible with us through the pandemic and we ended up having an outdoor socially distanced ceremony with a smaller group. If we were going to cancel, they were willing to find another date so we didn't lose funds. Overall, it is also good to know that your funds are going to an amazing group of women and an organization that does so much good in the community. Would 100% recommend!

The venue is stunning and the service is unmatched. From the beginning, Chris has been amazing. He is quick to respond, attentive, and respectful. Even the members of The Thursday Club we have interacted with have been friendly and helpful. I can't say enough good things. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our wedding due to the pandemic and were met with nothing but grace and empathy. I'm hopeful that we'll be able to reschedule for 2021 once things are lifted. I absolutely recommend The Thursday Club for your event or wedding.

This review is LONG overdue! BOOK! THE! THURSDAY! CLUB! Our wedding was everything we had imagined and more because of The Thursday Club! When we started to plan our wedding, I stumbled upon their website and just fell in love with the venue. It’s the secret garden meets the ocean. Every inch of the property is beautifully landscaped and maintained. It’s a bride and photographer’s dream come true. This venue also has such a lovely history and charm to it. Chris, the property manager, goes above and beyond to make you feel like your wedding is the only wedding being planned. He is so kind, helpful, patient, and accommodating. He also responds quickly when you realize you have one more question! It happened to rain on our wedding day and Chris knew how much it meant to me to keep the ceremony outside. On the balcony, he had a tent and chairs ready to go for our videographer, DJ, and any guests who wanted to be covered. (Thankfully it barely sprinkled during our actual ceremony) We booked The Thursday Club through The Abbey and together they made our happily ever after absolutely perfect. They have created a system that looks effortless. The Thursday Club works with vendors they trust and with vendors who will exceed your expectations! A year later and our family and friends still tell us that our wedding venue was absolutely breathtaking!

We are so grateful to have had our wedding at the Thursday Club. It comes complete with gorgeous ocean views in multiple directions, an amazing property, and the property manager, Chris, was an absolute delight to work with. Looking back on our photos and our memories of the day, we couldn’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else, it is truly breathtaking. The venue was the perfect size for our 140 guests, along with room for the dance floor and a photo booth. Another bonus of the Thursday Club, you can sneak off to Sunset cliffs, about three minutes away, and take some unforgettable photos.

I love the Thursday Club so much! My favorite venue in San Deigo and I have worked in a lot of them! Chris is a wonderful human being and an even better venue manager! Highly recommend!

This review is far overdue. I was married at the Thursday club in July. Our ceremony and reception were both held on site at this beautiful venue. We loved this venue from start to finish. Chris, the onsite manager is wonderful to work with and really holds your hand to ensure you have everything you need for your event. We had a fairly large wedding and there was plenty of space for everyone. Our guests haven't stopped commenting on how much they loved this place! I highly recommend it!

The Thursday Club is just magical! Chris is a wonderful and professional manager who is very easy to work with. The venue is absolutely beautiful and quintessential vintage southern California. Our guests who flew in from all over the world were stunned with the beauty of the grounds, views (including a marvelous sunset) and space. There’s a lot of history and it’s a space that’s held a lot of happy memories. It was the most perfect venue for us. We highly recommend it!

We had our wedding at The Thursday Club on 8/18/18. It was so perfect. We had so many compliments on the venue. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and made for amazing pictures. The manager, Chris, is incredibly helpful. He was always very responsive to my emails. We live out of town, and he was always very flexible with allowing us to visit the site when we were down there. I highly recommend The Thursday Club for a venue!

The Thursday club was the perfect location for us, it was a beautiful venue and offered fantastic views of the ocean. We were close enough to sunset cliffs to sneak away from our reception and take photos there. Chris, the manager, was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with.

By far the best decision that I ever made when it came to wedding planning. We fell in love with our venue online and when we saw it in person it solidified that we had to have our wedding ceremony and reception. Chris, the venue manager was excellent at helping us. We had so many great compliments at the end of the night! This venue is a must!

We had a great experience having our wedding at the Thursday Club! Chris is an amazing manager who always got back to me right away. We lived on the east coast when we began planning, which meant that responsiveness was even more important to me. Chris exceeded those expectations, always responding quickly with the information I needed. He is a very kind and warm person and he was a big reason that we chose the venue. He was very present on the day of and I’m sure he solved some problems that I never even knew about. The venue was perfect for our size wedding (120 people) and the building is larger than it looks from the outside. It is very well-laid out for caterers with its kitchen. The bridal room with private bathroom was wonderful too. Being in a beautiful, historic building was important to me and TTC was just that. The photos of the ocean view really don’t do it justice! The price is also very reasonable, especially with tables and chairs being included. A few things that might be helpful for others: -This is a VERY popular venue, in my experience more so than other well-known venues in San Diego. If you live in or are from SD, you should be prepared for some of your guests to have been here before, and that you might be invited to other weddings here in your lifetime. It’s something to keep in mind if it would bother you (it bothered me!). However, I think this just goes to show that TTC is a great venue with the right price. -You’re not able to schedule your rehearsal until a month before your wedding, and it might not be at the time you want if there is another event already scheduled that day. Our rehearsal had to be mid-day. If I had known earlier, I would have had a rehearsal lunch instead of dinner and been able to go to bed early! If I were to do it over, I’d pay more attention to the calendar and see if there was already an event scheduled before I started planning the rehearsal meal. -The 9pm end time is a little rough. Although we paid to add time on to the beginning, I still would have like another hour at the end. -The vendors we used were Breezy Day Weddings for coordination, Breezy Day Florals, Toast Catering, VG Donuts for cake and dessert table, and DJ Dennis Jones. They are all experienced working at the venue and we’d recommend all of them. We are very happy with the way our wedding turned turned out. Everything was beautiful, and we had a pretty good sunset too. (Maybe not the most amazing for San Diego natives, but pretty impressive for all our out of town guests ;). I would love to say that I booked my wedding here it was perfect until I read what I'm allowed to do at my own wedding. Approved caterers only only allowed to use white rose petals I could go on, but I won't. All I want is to find a venue that I can have a beautiful venue that will allow us to bring the food we want and have the wedding of our dreams. I hope this helps a bride like me who wants specific items and isn't ok with being forced into use of caterers they don't want.

We got married at The Thursday Club on 7/29/17 and cannot express how perfect the venue was for us. My husband and I wanted somewhere close to the water that had an intimate feeling and wasn't extremely expensive. We fell in love with The Thursday Club from the first time we visited it. We both have family from the east coast and wanted to show them why we love living in San Diego and The Thursday Club was the perfect place to do just that. The ceremony in the garden was amazing and everyone love the views from the porches. We had about 150 people at the wedding and were concerned that we'd feel cramped at first but I think the size was perfect and there was plenty of space on the dance floor. The manager, Chris, was so helpful and does an amazing job of keeping the venue in perfect condition. He was always responsive and was a pleasure to work with. This venue speaks for itself, it's absolutely breathtaking.

I cannot say enough good things about The Thursday Club. Not only is this venue beautiful and historic, the views are absolutely stunning. The support from the events manager is thorough and reassuring. The contract was easy to understand and payment was super easy. The venue supplies all tables and chairs, allowing for a variety of set-up options. Uplighting and hanging string lights are available through the venue. There are a few limitations on timing, materials, etc due to the historic nature of the building and its location but if you can't appreciate why these rules are in place, you shouldn't be getting married in a historic building. The Thursday Club requires you to use one of their preferred catering companies. I was irritated to be so limited at first, but it ended up being an ideal scenario. We went with Epic Catering and Lisa (the owner) knew exactly what could and could not be done at TTC, what table set-ups worked well in the space, and how to manage events there. This left little to manage on our side, which significantly reduced our stress! Our family and friends could not stop raving about how incredible the views were from the venue and how beautiful the space is. We could not agree more!

We were just married at the Thursday Club this weekend and we couldn't be happier with how everything went! First, the manager (Chris Erickson) was the best to work with - he was easygoing and professional from the start, and made us and our whole crew feel very welcome. You couldn't ask for a nicer guy to work with and anyone who has planned a wedding knows you have a LOT of contact with your venue prior to the event. All our expectations were met and then some. The venue itself is gorgeous - beautiful ocean views and historical charm to the building that is beyond compare. My family has had several weddings in the last few years and I received many compliments that this venue was by far the best. And, considering all we received, the Thursday Club was a bargain compared to other venues we researched. If we could give the Thursday Club more than a five star rating we would. I highly recommend that you consider this venue for your wedding or other special occasion.

Such a quaint place in a great neighborhood! This cozy, 1920's Women's Club was the absolute perfect place for my wedding this past weekend! Chris, the manager, was so kind and helpful from the very beginning and made the entire process such a wonderful experience! Even though the weather threatened rain, we were able to have the ceremony out on the beautiful garden patio, where we had about 100 guests fit nicely. Because there was a chance of rain, Chris suggested, and let us rehearse, an alternate ceremony plan that would have been just as easy and lovely. This is a full service venue where you are able to come and rehearse the day before, they provide all tables and chairs as well as set up and take down, and even have a safe in the bridal suit. Chris was also able to give me a number of recommendations for other vendors I needed as well. Chris was extremely accommodating in allowing me to come by the Club a number of times with different vendors, and simply to show family when they were in town prior to the wedding :) Every aspect of the Club is bursting with charm! This made for an especially warm and homey feeling wedding, and I would not have had it any other way!

Best wedding venue we could have ever hoped for! We live in Las Vegas, we took a weekend to go down to San Diego to look for wedding venues, the Thursday Club was our second stop. We both knew immediately following our visit that this was the place! Chris the manager is so helpful and quick to respond to email or phone calls which was particularly important because we were in another state. The venue is just a couple blocks from the Sunset Cliffs but far enough away that you don't have to deal with tourist traffic. We were able to use our creative minds to create the perfect setup, Chris even let us come in to try it out a few months prior to the wedding. Our wedding day was absolutely incredible, our guests especially loved the ocean views. If you are looking for a wedding venue, look no further this is the place!

I loved the location and it was perfect for our wedding. Lots of room for kids to run around, Tom and Cookie were easy to work with (no email, but that's ok), and it's in a beautiful location. Too bad that they close at 9:00 but we went to a bar after and that was a lot of fun.

The Thursday Club was the perfect location for my wedding. It's low-key and gorgeous. Your price includes location only - you have to bring in all your own vendors. It's very affordable, parking is easy, and the grounds are beautifully kept. That said, the venue staff NEVER answer the phone when you call, and it can take up to two weeks for them to return a message. I found this to be very frustrating when I was trying to make decisions about rentals and vendors. I needed table sizes to choose linens, a detailed list of what the venue provided, etc. and it was very challenging getting in touch with anyone at The Thursday Club. When they did finally return my calls, the staff was short and almost abrasive. They definitely need to work on their customer service.

The Thursday Club is a perfect venue for a wedding. It has a beautiful garden to get married in and balconies all over to watch the sunset. All of our guests loved the views of the ocean. Tom and Cookie were great. They always answered my questions promptly.

My husband and I had our wedding at The Thursday Club on Saturday, April 6th. It was truly our dream wedding venue, I had stalked it online for weeks and when we finally went to see it, we knew this is where we were going to become husband and wife. Before I get anymore mushy about how in love with our venue we are, I'll talk about space: TC was a perfect size for our wedding--about 100 people came, but since we had a large bridal party (16 people) who would be standing, we only needed 84 ceremony seats. It was perfect. We had the reception tables set up so that our sweetheart table was right next to the stage, the dance floor was in the middle, and the tables were set up around the dance floor. We had ten round tables. You have the option of either using the tables from TC, or having your caterer bring them in for you (we chose the latter since it would be easier for our caterer to set them up--we used Ranch Events and it was only $4 per table to rent.) We had a photo booth set up in the sitting room area, close to where the buffet was set up, and our cocktail hour out on the balcony. We already knew how beautiful and perfect our venue was--you absolutely cannot beat the view of the ocean, the natural beauty of the garden, and the charm of the entire house and surrounding neighborhood. But our guests were truly in love with the venue. We started our ceremony 30 minutes late (had a little issue with our officiant--I told her the wrong time, GASP!) and our photographer (the amazing James Maciariello) told us, worst-case scenario, our guests get to be in the gorgeous San Diego weather for a few extra minutes. (Also--nobody noticed we were even late! So he was right.) Almost every single one of our guests told us it was the most beautiful wedding venue they'd ever seen. (It was incredibly hard not to excitedly squeal, "I know, right??!!!" but I wanted to be modest!!) Some people consider the rules of TC as negatives, but they weren't a problem at all for us. Your wedding needs to be completely over by 9pm. We worked with this by starting our wedding at 2pm (ample time to party!) and by having our DJ announce our sparkler exit at about 8:45pm. You can only have beer, wine, and champagne (and you can't have any kegs). Also not a problem because we went with a caterer that allowed us to bring our own alcohol in, which saved us a lot of money. Also, the $3000 you pay is for a six-hour rental period only. After that, it is $100 for each extra hour. That was fine with us and it's definitely something they tell you before you sign your contract. I got ready at the venue and paid the extra $$ because I didn't like any of the local inns/hotels super close to the venue and didn't want to be more than 5 minutes away. We had the wedding of our dreams at The Thursday Club, and I highly recommend it to anyone planning a wedding. Your search should stop right here, because you can't find a venue more perfect!

You can't beat the beautiful ocean views the Thursday Club has to offer. The water in the background of our ceremony pictures look like the Caribbean. In fact, a few San Diegians have even asked where the photo is and are surprised it's Point Loma! We had a garden ceremony and the reception was in their vast dining hall. The dance floor was huge and guests had the veranda to go cool down after dancing. There are lots of rules and reguations to this venue so read the contract carefully!

This venue is quaint, charming, romantic and intimate. We just had our wedding here and it was perfect. The only weird thing about the venue is that you have to have all of your vendors out the door by 9:30pm, but not one of our guests even noticed! When we told our guests (after the wedding) that the night had ended at 9pm they had no idea! It has enough space for people to roam and get fresh air, and is small enough that all the guests will mingle together. The bridal suite is a perfect addition! I would definitely recommend this venue!!

My title says it all. Once I saw this place it was all over for me. The amazing views were enough, but it also has charm inside with warm wood floors and a great sitting area with picture windows that also see the beautiful view. The gardens are perfect for an outdoor ceremony, but tight if you have more than 100 people (people had to stand on the balcony overlooking the garden for our ceremony). This venue also lends itself well to lots of great outdoor photos with some great trees, a fountain and the great architecture of the Thursday Club. Book early (have to book a year in advance to get a Saturday!)

The Thursday was a recommendation by a couple friends of mine and once we saw the place, we didn't bother looking at other locations. The garden was beautiful for the ceremony although is a little tight in size (we had 135 guests). We loved the high ceilings and wood floors and the homey feeling. The owners are really nice although sometimes hard to get a hold of (we played phone tag). I would recommend getting the place for at least 9 hours (start to finish). Their included time just isn't enough! We had many compliments by our guests. I really do love this venue!

This venue has great views of Sunset Cliffs and Ocean Beach. It is also very reasonably priced, compared to other venues with an ocean view. The inside is a little boring, but there are lots of different rooms/areas for people to enjoy during the event. They are very strict with the time; we had to have the music end by 9pm. You are allowed to bring your own alcohol, but no hard liquor is allowed. Overall it was worth all the rules because the pros weighed out the cons - there is plenty of parking, it can hold a good amount of people, and there is a beutiful garden area with walking path and fountain. Decent location as well, not too hard to find. The property owners were nice to deal with. As long as you are OK with a lot of rules this is a great venue.

We were so happy with our choice. Tom and Cookie were easy to work with (they don't answer the phone but leave a message and they always call back). The venue is just beautiful.

I LOVE that we had our wedding here. The only downside was the limited time frame before being charged a lot per hour. Cookie did go above and beyond to make sure I could have my date though. Best memories here ever!

Awesome venue, beautiful setting on the hills overlooking the ocean. The garden was spectacular, lots of flowering plants made the ceremony look very nice. The ability to have outside caterers and supply our own alcohol made it affordable. The only downside was the sound system--we did an Ipod playlist instead of a DJ. The speakers cut off a couple times during the reception and the volume was not loud enough for everyone to hear. Other than that it was a perfect wedding!

Beautiful in every way

This place is ideal for weddings! The views are spectacular! All of my guests fell in love with the place. You don't need a lot of flowers or decorations here. The garden and views are enough. They have a lot of rules, but it's still a super place to get married. They have a really nice brides room to get ready in with your bridesmaids and family. Highly recommend this awesome place!

We instantly fell in love with The Thursday Club when we were attending a friend's wedding there. The ocean views are stunning the garden charming and the hall for dinner and dancing historic and elegant. It was the perfect setting for the wedding we wanted.;The only downsides to The Thursday Club are that it doesn't have heat or air conditiong (ocean breezes help but it was still VERY hot in there all day and night). Also the resident managers are strict about the event ending no later than 10 pm (a little too early for our guests).

It was located in San Diego near the ocean, in a area called sunset cliffs. What a PERFECT place. It was exactly that on a hill with the most magnificant sunset ever. The inside was quant and antique with tons of bay windows to marvel at the view. Also decks where at almost very door so you could go out side and enjoy the PERFECT San Diego weather. AND the best part was my grandparents had their wedding reception their in the 1940's. It was just an amazing place, Oh yes the grounds were perfectly manicured and a dozen little nooks and crannies for spectacular wedding pictures.;Maybe dealing with the manager when booking the place. If you did not get him on one of his goods days he could be a little grouchy. But then again the venue itself made it worth every aggrivating encounter.

The location is great with a view of the ocean. Its near Sunset Cliffs in a residential area.;Since its in a residential area their are noise ordances but it wasnt a big deal. The property managers were very picky about what could and could not be done. They also never answer the phone and rarely call you back. Be prepared to be frustrated.

The Thursday Club is located in the neighborhood of Point Loma which makes it feel very personal. Its got a beautiful view of the ocean just a few blocks up from Sunset Cliffs.;They only allow beer/wine/champagne which might be a problem for some.

The Thursday Club is beautiful on the inside and out. It has a great view of the ocean! It was the perfect size for our wedding (115 guests)! I would highly recommend it!;We got married in February which was a perfect temperature inside, though I had a friend who got married there in July-and it was very hot inside because there is no air conditioner. I would still highly recommend it!
