I had my wedding there in 2022. I thought that the coordinator and I were on the same page about my wedding. She seemed so helpful until the actual day. Her energy was so off and she didn’t give the same care to making everything go smoothly like she said that she would during the months leading up to my big day. I even ending up being charged outrages fees for things (like stacking up chairs) that could have been given as a courtesy since I was told that she and the staff were there to help me have a magical day. Especially after all of the money that I spent with them. Totally disappointed. It took me almost two years to write this without being furious at the thought.

Calistur,
Thank you for your feedback. Our goal is to always aide in couples having the best memories of their wedding day and it saddens us to know we did not meet those expectations. It is very uncommon for us to have to result in labor cha...
rges as we do try to our best to prepare details prior to the wedding that can alleviate any surprises. In this case, we were unaware that a third party would be dropping of rental chairs without set up & breakdown. Day-of our team did come together and provide that service. As this was a learning experience, we have worked towards our package including rental chairs and only working through familiar rental companies to avoid any future miscommunication. We do appreciate your time and continue to wish you the very best.
The Westin Poinsett is a great venue for couples who are about 50% DIY :) They took care of the food, booze, setup, breakdown, linens, tables, and chairs. Their wedding coordinator was with me every step of the way through menu tastings, reception set-ups, and more! Can't recommend this historic, classic venue enough for a Greenville reception space!
From the beginning the sales associate, Sarah, worked went above and beyond to turn my dream wedding into reality. The food was incredible. The staff was very professional, and everything was set up even better than I imagined it. It rained on our wedding day so we didn’t get to take the rooftop pictures. The Westin allowed us to come back a few weeks later to get those shots. I highly recommend them for your wedding venue.

Any questions?
Our wedding was nothing short of perfect thanks to The Westin Poinsett. Sarah, the wedding coordinator, was so great to work with! Leading up to the day, Sarah was incredibly responsive, accommodating, and thorough. She gave us a sense of calm throughout the process and explained the hotel’s policies and procedures very clearly. We had so much fun meeting with her, doing our tasting, and designing our reception layout. She worked with our planner and other vendors to ensure everything was set up and executed seamlessly. On the day of, everything went perfectly! The staff, food, and overall experience was incredible. Thank you to the Westin for making our wedding dreams come true!

I worked with Sarah Baker to reserve a block of rooms and the Card room for my daughters wedding and she was fantastic! Sarah was easy to work with, answered all of my questions and had everything perfectly set up for the bridal party to get ready. I highly recommend using them!

From start to finish, our wedding was as beautiful as I imagined it being. The Westin’s own wedding coordinator, Sarah, was fabulous to work with! She made sure all the details fell in to place & also took over troubleshooting on wedding day so that no one had to worry about unexpected issues. Our guests were so pleased with the food, atmosphere, & service. We felt so special & enjoyed celebrating our day (even though it had been postponed by a year due to covid)! Many of my guest told me it was best wedding they’d been to! Much thanks to Sarah and the Westin staff for making our day perfect!
The staff is incredible! Jeff handled any and every question and concern that I had throughout the whole process leading up to the wedding weekend. This is where I stayed for the whole weekend and a large portion of our guests stayed. The Bell Hops are TOP NOTCH! They made us feel as if we were the most important people in the world... And they were doing that before they even knew I was the Bride. Every single guest from our wedding raved about their experience here. We also had a bridal tea party here in the small open area that is in the lobby. It created such a perfect ambiance for the weekend to kick off. I would recommend for any and everyone to stay here and use this as their home base for your wedding weekend! The prices could not be more reasonable.
Note - We did have a slightly cheaper option for guests to stay at another hotel, but it was not a good experience with that other hotel. The other hotel ended up adding random fees, charging more than they said. Westin was clear cut, super accommodating, and created the best weekend environment for our special weekend.
So stay at the Westin, ask for Jeff (he's the best!) and make sure to treat the Bell Hops well! (I think it was Kevin? and someone else.. You'll know them when you meet them, they're out of this world and are fantastic!)
We had our dream wedding at The Westin Poinsett Hotel. The experience was phenomenal! Sarah was a delight to work with, always very attentive and responsive. The day of our wedding Sarah was unable to be present, but Yveline the event captain did an amazing job making sure that everything went as planned. The entire staff was friendly, professional and extremely attentive. If you are looking to have a worry free wedding done by professionals and are looking for exceptional world class experience we recommend The Westin Poinsett Hotel. The elegance and beauty of the hotel is magnificent, our photographer was able to capture some spectacular pictures.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Westin Poinsett and for the most part it was perfect. The housekeeping staff, front desk staff, and even those working brunch the next day made us feel beyond special and taken care of. However, the new event coordinator/"wedding sales manager", Sarah Blasingame, is a weak link in the Westin team. During our meetings with her prior to the wedding she would often talk poorly about families she had previously worked with. It was both uncomfortable and unprofessional. Often times it didn't even seem like the family was in the wrong, putting us in a weird situation to try and laugh along and change the subject. My mom tried to talk to Sarah about issues she was experiencing with her on the wedding day (she didn't check in with us or let us know she was even there until an hour before the ceremony), and Sarah lied saying she had checked in with me and showed no remorse to my mom. Sarah snapped at an aunt in front of me and other guests when my aunt asked if she needed to take our box of cash and checks up to a hotel room post-ceremony, saying that she would take care of it... and then she left the box unattended way into the reception until luckily another family member noticed and took the gifts to a hotel room. Honestly it would not have been a big deal had she not been so rude to my aunt when she offered to help. We had low expectations and are laid back people and Sarah's tip was still withheld due to her service on our wedding day. Again, the rest of the staff was FANTASTIC to work with and this one bad staff member did not come close to ruining the day for us. I don't believe she will be in this position for long, but if Sarah is still the coordinator at the Westin when you are looking at venues I would suggest looking at all of your options as Greenville has SO much to offer.
The Westin's event staff is so helpful and professional. I can't imagine trying to plan a wedding without help. Tables/linens/china/glassware/cuttlery are all included. The only thing we chose to rent was a stage for our band because they preferred it - and it was a good call. The menu selection and the options offered are broad - seated, buffet, or stations and everything is adjustable. We wanted to add some items to our stations to make each more like a meal which wasn't a problem. The Westin's staff helped with table layouts and tweaked it several times until it was just right. We loved the way you could utilize the Poinsett Ballroom, the veranda, the mezzanine and the spaces off the mezzanine which meant guests could be in the ballroom dancing or out of the ballroom catching up with friends. We did secure Katie Williams for our weekend-of wedding coordinator and did this months in advance just in case another reception booked at the same time. Having Katie there meant everything was perfectly coordinated (she's wonderful). Our out-of-town guests loved the convenience of staying at the Westin, the Saturday morning curb market just out the front door and being right in the middle of Main Street Greenville. One of the the best values & venues we found in downtown - couldn't be happier with the way it all turned out.

Great place and price to hold a wedding and ceremony. My only complaint was that they decided to hold 2 other weddings during mine and I can tell the staff had to scramble to be in 3 different places at once. They also forgot to put out all of our catering (the fruit platter), which is totally ok, no one even knew it was missing and they refunded my parents. I hope they stick to just maybe 2 wedding per night, 3 was just too many and I felt a bit neglected during ours. Overall great though! It's a beautiful place, everyone is SUPER nice and we loved the room that came with the wedding package - we felt like a king and a queen! I would recommend overall.
Chelsea at the Westin was a joy to work with! We selected the Westin as our wedding venue because we wanted as little hassle as possible and it proved to be perfect! We wanted a venue that did everything in one place (or had recommendations for external vendors). They made the reception an easy process to plan and execute. Chelsea offered great suggestions and advice for our big day and it turned out wonderful. The Poinsett Hotel is so iconic and we choose it for its charm and old-school feel. Our only hiccups for the day were that the bar closed an hour early, we had finally finished pictures and meeting with everyone and my husband and I went out to finally get a drink and it was closed down. In our original contract we had the bar closing at 9pm but the week prior we met with Chelsea briefly in the lobby of the hotel and had them extend it to 10pm. I guess that didn’t get translated to day-of but I suppose at the end of the day it saved us money in the long run! Also, be specific with your cake instructions. We had a 3 tier cake with 3 different flavors – we had an anniversary cake ordered separately – the hotel removed the top layer of our cake to save for us, rather than serving it to our guests. We ended up with two anniversary cakes because of that. I would also recommend a day-of coordinator to help with your wedding. Chelsea was fantastic at the Westin but if you have a lot of moving parts with your wedding, you might need that extra support. I would absolutely recommend the Westin for any of your events, the food, the service and the venue are just stunning. You get the beautiful old-world feel with a flare of fun and good food!
The staff at the Westin were amazing! From the moment we called o inquire about holding our ceremony and our reception there, I felt like I was their only bride. The venue is beautiful and historic, and the roof top photos were so much fun.
The Westin Poinsett Hotel is truly THE BEST when it comes to hospitality, service, atmosphere, and execution. My husband and I are so thankful to the entire staff that was so gracious in welcoming all of our town guests and providing an amazing experience from start to finish. The Chef is so talented in creating menus and ensuring that his clients are blown away with an amazing selection at the tasting and night of your big day. The Food and Beverage Manager and his team provide top notch, 4-Diamond service, leaving you with nothing to worry about the entire night. The Wedding Coordinator invests her time and makes a personal effort to ensure each individual client's dreams are fulfilled. She works diligently with you from the site tour and booking, to the tasting, to the drop-off appointment. The entire hotel staff keeps you at ease months, weeks, and days leading up to your wedding day.
I grew up in Greenville and for YEARS I've always said I wanted to stay at the Westin Poinsett on my wedding night. My sweet husband booked the room, but we were both disappointed. It was not near as nice as I had hoped, and for the price I was not happy. It's still a pretty hotel and a lovely location, but the room was NOTHING spectacular.
We had the Gold Ball room. The sales staff was outstanding. The chef was remarkable. The ball room was beautiful. Finally, the roof top access was the cherry on the cake.
We enjoyed staying her for our honeymoon! What a beautiful place!
The Westin Poinsett was a wonderful venue for my wedding. The hotel is beautiful and historical, and the staff did an excellent job coordinating everything.
I have told the Westin I am going to leave honest feedback on my experience and will do so. First, the hotel is beautiful. Guests commented on the amazing and historic beauty it had to offer. Rooms are a bit pricey, but comparable to other hotels in downtown Greenville. In fact, rooms in the room block here were cheaper than what other hotels were going to offer in blocks. The complimentary night for the wedding was an added plus. We had our reception in the Gold Ballroom and that, too, was a great location site. It was stunning and if you want a reception in a ballroom, I wouldn't have anything negative to say about it.
I caution you if you plan on solely relying on the hotel's event planner. While she sets up everything for you (or instructs the staff, I'm not entirely sure), I still had a day of coordinator and do not regret that choice one bit. My DOC had to fix the centerpieces since they did not match the pictures provided. Also, my DOC was present through the ENTIRE reception. The hotel's planner typically does not stay until the end of the reception and also was not there Sunday during our departure to help us locate some of our items. The hotel's planner is not consistently present during the reception, especially if there is another wedding or event in the hotel. She is present only here and there, but not consistently. We had an issue with our champagne toast and had to send my DOC to try to locate the hotel's planner or anyone to help.
Overall, the hotel's planner was useful in organizing the details, planning food, etc. She ensured the timeline generally flowed and we got to where we needed to be. At times, communication was hard and responses to questions were delayed. The overall package price, in my opinion, was helpful.
Next, we had issues with the clean up of the event, which is part of the package. The staff told my DOC they were not going to pack up the reception decor, which resulted in my DOC, father, and several groomsmen spending an hour or two packing up the items and then carrying them to my father's room. As the hotel planner was not there at the end of the reception, there was no one to talk to about what was happening. Needless to say, the end result was a DOC I needed to compensate for time outside our contract and a not very pleased Father of the Bride. After some pressing to the Westin, compensation was given for this. I can at least give them credit for rectifying a wrong though it did take some pushing.
For reception food, it was fantastic. We had many compliments on the steak, sides, etc. The staff was attentive and the bar service was quick. My father had lots of positive things to say about the staff and especially liked Eric. Eric is a jack of all trades - he was the bartender at the rehearsal, bell hop at various points, waiter at the reception, van driver on Sunday. If you have Eric doing anything, you are in good hands. We also had a fantastic server, JJ, at the wedding - we loved her, too.
The Westin suggested doing wine passing during dinner and closing the bar as a cost saver. In the end, this was more expensive than simply doing another hour for the open bar. You are charged taxes, gratuity, and services fees for this hour though the contract states this is part of the package; this was an issue and I'm still not in agreement that it was right since it was never mentioned. Think twice about this option.
Most of our decor was returned - a few items were missing.
Not only is the Westin Poinsett one of the most picturesque venues in downtown Greenville, but the amazing service provided by the staff made the location unbeatable. The food was delicious and everyone cannot stop talking about what a great time they had. Somers, the coordinator, made everything go off without a hitch. Thank you to everyone at the Westin.
If u want an historic sight with all the amenities, this is your pkace
We couldn't have made a better choice. The Westin was the full package and provided more than we could have hoped for. Many thanks goes to Sarah Locke for doing such an amazing job with the planning and time that went into our wedding reception. We highly recommend!
The Westin Poinsett is a beautiful hotel that is perfect for a wedding reception. We had ours there after our wedding at The Cliffs, Glassy Chapel. I really couldn't have been more pleased with the service we received. Sarah was a pleasure to work with, as she knows what she is doing. She knows what needs to be done and she gets it done. Also, very quick response time, which I was very pleased with.
This was the worst service I have ever received in my life. The night of our rehearsal dinner, we came back with our bridal party and were all in the lobby. When we went back to our room a hotel employee came to our door threatening to kick us out because we were "too loud". He based this on us talking on our way up to the room. When we tried to order room service, the same employee would not receive our order because of our "misbehavior".
Another problem is that months before the wedding, my husband called to reserve our suite for our wedding night. He asked if he needed to pay then, but the person on the phone said no and that he needed to pay when we checked in. Two days before the wedding, thinking we had a reservation, we called to confirm that we still had our reservation. They said that they did not had any reservations with our names.
Aside from all, the quality of the hotel and rooms do not warrant the price. I have stayed at true 4 star hotels, and this was not at the same level.
Everything was beautiful and it was the wedding of my dreams but there were some major communication issues with the event planner and the staff. We had planned out how the evening was supposed to flow, but she did not communicate the plan to the staff so everyone was on a different page. They also lost the structure and supports for the cake that we were supposed to return to the cake vendor, therefore we were charged for this. The Westin says that they saved the parts in a "black trash bag"....does not seem smart right? Overall it was beautiful and we had a great night but the event planner needs to up her game. The staff members were plentiful and food and bar lines remained short which our guests appreciated.
I used the Westin Poinsett for my ceremony and reception. I worked with Sarah Locke, and she was an absolute doll. She made everything happen that I asked of her without any questions. On the day of the wedding, I didn't have to worry about a thing. She took care of it all, and she looked great doing it too! :) I would reccomend this venue to anyone, it is worth every dollar. The food was amazing, the ballrooms were amazing, the staff and service were PHENOMENAL. I wish I could get married again so I could do it all over! Only one thing didn't go according to plan; the night was supposed to be over at 9:30, and Sarah ended it at 8:30. I'm not sure why, I didn't even notice until someone brought it up to me the next day! Regardless, it was a fantastic experience!
