Since day 1 of us meeting with Timothy Whaley & Associates we had nothing but GREAT things to say! We actually booked with them on the first sit down meeting. They make everything so easy for you to understand and are very easy to get in touch with. You leave a message with... Read More them and within 24 hours you will either get an email or call back. The last thing that a bride or groom wants to deal with on their wedding day is to make sure your photographer(s) are doing their job....and let me say we had 2 (two) of them and both weren't just on time, they were both EARLY!!!!! My husband and I are both still in contact with the company: picking out our bridal album (which they make it very easy), getting our Thank You's ready, picking out our canvas cluster, etc. and I can give them a call/email at anytime and don't have to worry about them getting back to me!! (Oh, and my sister and brother in-law also used them over 5 years ago)

Everyone makes the same promises about taking care of you and making your day extra special. Right from the very beginning I could tell that Timothy Whaley was going to be perfect for my wedding. On our initial meeting, one of their out-of-the-box photographers was able to show us how they could best capture our wedding moments through their photo journalistic approach. He was so easy to talk to and we were on the same page from the beginning as far as what I wanted my pictures to look like and the 'vibe' I wanted to portray. He able to explain to me how their services are more of an investment in a relationship-than just supplying a product- that will pay off throughout our lives as we create new memories and grow our family. This is the kind of relationship I was looking for in trusting someone to capture all the best moments on my special day. I'm confident they will surpass anyone's expectations for photography as they certainly did mine. Note: This is not a review of the photographers; they are great. This is a review of the company itself. Bottomline: TWA's perceived value for the extremely high price you pay is not worth it. What we ended up spending with TWA was more than double what we thought we signed up for. Also, you will not get the digital files/rights to your photos in a timely manner (our wedding photos took 6 months). For those reasons among the others listed below, I would not use TWA again or recommend them to anyone. We were looking for engagement, wedding and videography services. TWA has artists that cover all of those categories. They came recommended by our venue, so we figured they'd be a safe bet. When we first went in for our consultation in March of 2015, it was all roses. They made a lot of promises and really sell you with all of the "freebies" you are eligible for. We soon learned "freebies" come at a price and as soon as you sign the contract you are locked in for far more than you originally anticipated. To start, the engagement sessions are canned sessions and you won't get your digital files until after your wedding unless you spend more money on photo products. You'll meet a photographer that is at one location all day and you just show up for your time slot. They take pretty much the same pictures for everyone and don't really care what your style is. If you want a more individualized experience, you would have to pay extra for the upgrade. After the wedding is when TWA's true colors started to show. To sum it all up here are a few key areas that were the worst: 1. Photo Release/Rewards Program - It took about 6 weeks to just see any of our photos from the wedding. You are also required to go in for the reveal in person because they want to sell you with the "rewards" program. Essentially it's this, they will release your photos to you "early" if you spend more money. We still didn't get our digital files until 6 months after the wedding even though we spent enough to put us in the rewards tier to get them immediately. Keep in mind that included our engagement photos too (which were over 1 year old at that point). Our daughter doubled in age from when we took engagement photos to when we received them. All other companies/photographers that we've used in the past (including a previous wedding) we received the digital files and rights to our photos as soon as editing was complete (max 4 weeks). 2. Bridal Album - The Bridal Album is a chief complaint. You may or may not be aware that you are contractually obligated to buy a bridal album, but what you probably don't know is how much they cost. Most albums start around $2000. This is in addition to what you have already paid for in services. Additionally, working with TWA to "design" the album is a huge headache. The whole process takes about 4 months. TWA gives broad ranges of when they will get the initial design or revised design to you (ex.up to 6 weeks), but as a customer you are expected to turn around review feedback in 1-2 weeks. Just know there will be a lot of feedback required for your album. Our initial design was about as good as the automated photobook picture dump that Shutterfly does. Additionally, you have to provide all feedback in the first round review because after that they will charge you $5 for every change!

Read More pretty good price overall (especially compared to independent photographers). As soon as we booked everything went down hill. Our photographer that was assigned to us, Douglas, was so unreliable even before actually meeting him. We should've known the day of the wedding would be just as terrible, and it was, to say the least. Our pictures are HORRIBLE. Nothing like the examples I showed him or told him I wanted. We had plans to take outdoor pictures which had to be changed because it was a blizzard. We were totally flexible and understanding, but you would've thought the world was ending talking to him. It definitely showed in his pictures. Our second photographer, Joel, was wonderful and took some great shots, but unfortunately he was assigned to just take shots of decorations and such. (Not worth the extra money you pay for a second photographer) Ever since the day of our wedding (November 21) we've had nothing but issues. Trying to meet with anyone that mattered in the company to voice our concerns was met with..."oh we can't meet in this location, oh you can't speak with the owner but you can speak with____." SO unprofessional. All of this aside, it is now May 24 and our album STILL HASNT EVEN BEEN PUT INTO PRODUCTION. We have paid the amount of the album in full (which is where they really get you in price) and we still have no access to the pictures let alone an album or an album being made. Be prepared to spend $1,000 and up on an album, and the lowest priced albums are nothing that anyone would want anyways. I am so disappointed in this company and the whole experience all around. This was the only stressful part of my wedding, and the fact that it is 6 months later and it is still stressful is completely unacceptable....forget the fact that we still aren't even close to having an album or having rights to any of our pictures. Stay far far away.

After the wedding, we worked with Amanda who worked tirelessly to help us get what we wanted for our canvases and photo album. She sent email after email with approvals until we were able to get things just how we wanted them. She was extremely dedicated and super easy to work with. Fortunately, after sharing our frustrations with a couple customer service individuals, we were given a chance to meet with Timothy Whaley himself and feel our needs have been fully met. One of the major letdowns we encountered was not having a single photo of myself (bride) and the mother of the bride together and after sharing this with Tim, the team was able to successfully superimpose a beautiful image of us together on the alter, it's like it really happened! We liked the salesperson we met with who was outgoing and offered us promotions. We then learned that he would not be our photographer and we would not meet the photographer until a couple weeks or month before the wedding. They contract with a number of photographers so you do not know which photographer took the showcased photos. We were sent a copy of the contract which differed from what we were told in person. The font was small. The contract essentially provided that we would not be provided proofs to review and select for the wedding album until 6 months after the wedding. What was more upsetting is that we would not receive jpeg images until 14 months -- over a year -- after the wedding. You could potentially receive them in less than a year if you and your family and friends spent a certain amount on photos and products. There were other provisions that gave us pause. We tried to negotiate with the salesperson and his manager to revise the contract to allow us to receive the photos sooner, but they would only take a couple months off of the timeline. When we sat down and did the math, they would actually be a lot more expensive than other photographers since they charge a lot for albums, extras, and force you to buy photos and products so you can obtain the jpegs. We ended up utilizing a solo photographer who made us feel more comfortable. We paid slightly more for the photography in order to obtain all of the jpegs in a short time frame at no additional charge.
