Oh my goodness! Where do I even start?! I first discovered Transformations Artistry on Instagram while searching for wedding hair inspiration. All of Ashlyn’s work looked so dreamy and romantic! One day, she posted that she was looking for a hair model with blonde, thick, mid-length hair. At the time, my hair was short, brown, and fine, but I messaged her anyway—and I'm so glad I did! Ashlyn didn’t shy away from the challenge, and my hair had never looked so beautiful! She immediately put me at ease in her fairytale home studio—it felt like chatting with an old friend while being pampered. If I hadn’t already booked another company, I would have hired Ashlyn for my wedding hair and makeup on the spot! Later, I went back to Ashlyn for a winter gala. Despite being a bit behind schedule, she created the prettiest updo in just 15 minutes! I made it to my event on time and received compliments all night long. When it came time for my wedding hair and makeup trial with the company I originally hired, it was a disaster. After a 4+ hour trial where the artist failed to execute either of the styles I wanted, I left feeling defeated. In a panic, I called Ashlyn, and she kindly fit me in for a trial to test the styles I thought were "too challenging." In just 45 minutes, Ashlyn nailed both looks! I immediately canceled my other services and booked Ashlyn for my rehearsal and wedding day. Leading up to the wedding, Ashlyn's communication was prompt and clear. She went above and beyond, even sharing skincare tips to ensure flawless makeup. On the day of my rehearsal, I got my hair and makeup done at 10 a.m., and both held up through a 98-degree day and dinner until 9 p.m.! What truly amazes me about Ashlyn is her commitment to improving her craft. I’m blind in one eye, which is noticeably smaller than my other—a source of insecurity. I also had her stay for touch-ups and a quick hairstyle change during the cocktail hour—thankfully, since it was hot, and she made my reception photos look amazing! Ashlyn did a wonderful job with my hair and my bridesmaids’ hair for my wedding. Everyone looked fantastic and was thrilled with how their look turned out! Ashlyn is quite direct when it comes to communication regarding business/contractual points so you should expect that, but she is up front regarding expectations and is very professional. She is a very kind and sweet person and is easy/fun to chat with. She brought a great vibe to the wedding day while we were getting ready and provided helpful advice before and during my trial as well (e.g. regarding which extensions to buy to achieve the hairstyle I wanted). Ashlyn and her team were AMAZING on my wedding day. I was referred to Ashlyn from a friend who Ashlyn recently did their wedding hair and make up and they had nothing but good things to say and they were 100% right. From the initial trial to the big day, Ashlyn was professional, attentive, responsive (the quickest responder out of all my vendors) and incredibly talented. On my wedding day, Ashlyn and her team arrived on time and were fully prepared. There were a total of 10 hair services, 5 make up services, and my bridal hair and make up. Between Ashlyn and her two assistants they were very organized and efficient. I'm sure it was very stressful with that many services during a 5 hour time frame but they didn't show it! Their work was amazing and held up during the rainy wedding day. My bridesmaids kept saying how good the hair and make up was. Even one of my bridesmaids who has been in many weddings said that this was the first time her hair actually looked like the inspo photo. As far as my hair and make up it was 11/10. Ashlyn gave me a few tips for my hair at the trial that I implemented and my hair was everything I ever dreamed the day of. I decided to still wear my hair down despite the rain and I'm so grateful Ashlyn was fully supportive of this because in the back of my mind I was very worried it might not hold, but Ashlyn worked wonders. I looked at several hair and makeup companies in the area- comparing cost, reviews, portfolios, recommendations from friends, etc. but I kept coming back to Transformations. I just knew in my gut that Ashlyn and her team were the vendors for me! I could not be more thrilled with how everything turned out! Ashlyn is incredibly responsive and always works to educate her brides and clients. She is one of the main reasons I started taking better care of my skin and I could not be more grateful- as that care will continue well beyond the wedding day. I had the pleasure of working with Ashlyn for a hair and makeup trial, rehearsal dinner hair and makeup, and day-of services. For the trial and rehearsal, I went to her studio. It is very cozy, charming, and perfectly feminine. Ashlyn was always a welcoming hostess. On the day of her team came to our getting ready location and were prompt and ready to go! Everyone, and I mean everyone, raved about her and her team- from my bridesmaids to the mothers! There were different hair types, textures, lengths, and skin types, etc. At least one of my friends said if she wasn't already married she'd be booking Ashlyn and her team. They really take the time to understand what you want from your professional look. They ask clarifying questions, educate, and make recommendations. They were quick and friendly, plus our hair and makeup seriously lasted all night long- I have photos from our after-party and it looks like I just had it all done! This was hours later and after a lot of wind. I would book Transformations Artistry a thousand times over. I am so, so glad I went with my gut. When I think back on the time spent with Ashlyn I get a little emotional because she really was the loveliest. Ashlyn did my hair and makeup for both my rehearsal dinner and wedding in October 2023. We had already completed my bridal trial in August which was helpful for us to get to know one another and also find the look I was going for. Ashlyn’s work speaks for itself. She perfectly applies the look you’ve shown with your own facial features, and bone structure. If anything may differ, she is able to talk you through it so you can make informed decisions. She also is able to create flawless looks with little to no direction, which I found out for the rehearsal dinner when I told her to do what she thought best. It turned out perfectly, maybe even better than when I changed her artistry for my wedding day. Ashlyn creates art, in both occasions I felt like she created an astounding version of myself that only she could have done. In terms of character, Ashlyn is honest, brave, kind, and most importantly peaceful. When chaos ensues around her with an abundant amount of bridesmaids, mother-in-law’s, Mother of the bride, she handles it all in stride; calmly she speaks to you in a way that makes you feel valued. Ashlyn did a phenomenal job for my wedding! She is great at taking direction for the styles you like. She also gives tips on how to keep your skin hydrated for the wedding and is great at preparing you for what to expect on the morning of your wedding. She documents the hair and make up trial to remember later but also so you can look at those photos and videos later to help you make a decision. She seemed to be one of the more affordable options in the Richmond area as well. I highly recommend her!

From very first contact, my experience with Ashlyn was truly the best. She was super responsive, helpful, and clearly very knowledgeable. I had a amazing experience using transformation artistry for my engagement pictures! Ashlyn was accommodating and flexible when I had to reschedule my engagement pictures due to weather. In addition, she helped me pick the perfect hair and makeup style/look for our engagement session. She went above and beyond and even helped give me recommendations on wedding day hair with extensions, etc. she is very talented and will use her again for other special occasions!

My hair stylist had an injury a couple months out from my wedding and I frantically sent out last minute inquiries to a bunch of hair/makeup vendors. I had her do hair and makeup not only for me, but for a range of people from 25 to 85 years old (she even styled my husbands hair - he has long hair), so I feel I can speak on her abilities across ages and gender. She and her team knocked it out of the park with everyone. Everyone looked dolled up but not overdone. She and the team took time to understand what each person wanted and executed it beautifully. As for my hair and makeup, she was able to recreate it (with a few requested tweaks) exactly as we had done during the trial session. Ashlyn also did my engagement photo makeup and it was stunning.
