uests. We requested the shape of our wedding cake to be rectangular with the corners cut off and pumpkin flavored. After all, the name of the bakery is Unique Desserts, so they should be able to do more than make square/circular wedding cakes and the regular flavors, right? We also knew that our requests were not unusual or difficult as we had been to many bridal shows and asked several vendors if these were difficult requests. For several months, she would not confirm that she could make the shape of the cake, and at one time even stated she did not have that shape cake pan and we might have to incur the cost of expensive cake pans. She also stated she does not have pumpkin flavored cake because it does not translate well to cake but would try to make it if I gave her a recipe. I gave her the recipe, which she stated she would try and six months later, still had not tried. When I spoke to her again, she gave all sorts of excuses about the business being busy and not being able to try the recipe. I really needed a yes or no answer at this point because if she couldn't do it, we needed to go to another vendor before they were all booked. She once told me that this may be very important to us but she does weddings every weekend. Anyone who chooses to be in the wedding business needs to keep in mind that this is the biggest day of someone's life and it needs to be treated as such. I am a labor and delivery nurse and I would never dream of telling them this may be a big day to you but I have 2 or 3 deliveries a day, this is no big deal. Your client does not need to know the difficulties of running a business. The stress of planning a wedding is enough, we really did not need to hear about how much trouble we were causing her by requesting our wedding cake. I gave her an overall rating of 2 because her cakes are tasty and beautiful but she lacks professionalism and flexibility. We chose Jamie from Cake-a-Fare, who made us a wonderful, delicious cake and did not give us one bit of trouble. She did exactly what we requested and we received many compliments at our wedding.
