United States Naval Academy Chapel

seriously difficult time working with them leading up to our wedding day. Then on the wedding day they: told our priest the wrong time for our wedding- nor did they own up to this... they simply said the priest was late (the head chaplain of the Naval Academy); they failed to place the gifts in the chapel for the gift bearers; they failed to bring the readings to the ceremony; they let the wedding party for the next wedding walk through the church to get set up during our ceremony; they let tourists and people in sweats walk through the church and take pictures of us during the most sacred parts of the mass; at the conclusion of the ceremony, right before our sword bearers formed the arch, one of the coordinators insisted we move along quickly without getting my husband's sword/uniform parts assembled and told him to carry it all out (military will understand how wrong this is). It's very unfortunate because the staff wedding coordinators know they don't have to put in much effort- everyone does and always will want to be married at the Naval Academy. Therefore they take your money (a lot of money) and take advantage of you.

talking with the chapel coordinator, there were no fees to hold your ceremony here. However, when the time came to book the chapel, suddenly there was a $1,500 fee that had never been mentioned before. The fee has since been dropped to $1,000 - We still feel this is way too high. The Chapel also switched coordinators during our planning process. We only discovered this after attempting to contact the previous coordinator to find she was no longer employed there. The current coordinator, Christine, is fantastic. She was very responsive and a breeze to work with on our big day. In the end, we were very happy.

ristine, the new coordinator was amazing. As anyone familiar with military life should know, there's always something going on, schedule changes, not knowing schedules until last minute, sometimes just complete chaos. This has taken a bit of getting used to on my behalf in learning how to stay patient. As always with military life, there were a few changes that happened last minute with the Naval academy grounds and the Chapel, but Christine and her team came to the rescue to fight for us to make things possible. She was truly a blessing in helping coordinate the day, from months in advance when the other coordinator left, until the very last minute when telling the bridal party when to walk down the isle, to when the swordsman needed to be outside. She also was extremely patient with me during times when I had a bad attitude because of the changes or how I put it, my bridezilla period. The two months before the wedding, my now husband and I moved cities, and I started a new job which put me traveling the 5 weeks before the wedding. Christine did everything in her power to try and make things easier for me during this stressful time when it came to the parking passes, to the gate openings, to the day of chaos of multiple weddings. She never once judged, she let me vent, and she still always went above and beyond for us on this special day. That truly speaks wonders about the coordinator you'll be dealing with here, having someone who always puts their clients first is what you want in a coordinator and you will get that with Christine and her team. I wish I could post pictures to show how incredible this venue is. This day was the best day of our lives and if we could, we would do it all again.
