John Daggett - Bagpiper
My name is John, and when I am not chasing after my two boys and their trusty goldendoodle, Ella, I love playing bagpipes. I have been piping for 20 years. Over the years, I have played at over 85 weddings (I just counted them up!), in addition to other celebrations, parties, funerals, etc. While in graduate school in Boston, I enjoyed playing for The Boston Blazers, President George H.W. Bush, and at numerous celebrity weddings. I also enjoy teaching students as they embark in learning the pipes. Bagpipes are GREAT to have at a wedding! Imagine having pipes fire up to lead a lively processional after being announced as a newly married couple. Imagine pipes being played outside of your wedding venue as a surprise to your guests or your loved one. I love working with clients to incorporate bagpipes into their special events. The bagpipes are very difficult to play, and very difficult to play well. It takes a discerning ear and lots of technical capabilities to play the pipes. I pride myself in playing the pipes well, with a focus on intonation and balance in my instrument. Looking back, its hard to believe I have been playing bagpipes for 20 years. I have so many great memories of piping throughout the years and can't wait to work with clients in arranging pipes for their special events. Not all bagpipers are the same, and I would advise that many pipers out there are likely not fit to be playing professionally for clients. This doesn't make them bad people, but it should be part of your decision to hire someone with experience. Please reach out anytime to explore options for your special event!
