The First Look
Windsor Mansion Inn, built in 1902, is part of a 14-acre estate situated high on Juniper Hill in the historic hamlet of Windsor, Vermont. Originally, the colonial revival mansion was a summer home for a prominent politician but it has been an inn since 1941. Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge and Woodrow Wilson visited the home in its early years. The venue specializes in destination weddings, hosting wedding ceremonies and receptions.
Deck or patio. Outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions, which include tent pavilions, are held either on the brick patio or deck. Both locations are surrounded by a large yard and formal gardens that showcase blooming flora and rolling greens. The outdoor spaces, which offer picturesque views of Lake Runnemede, the Cornish Hills and Mount Ascutney, can accommodate from 120 to more than 200 guests.
Great room. The great room features a sophisticated decor with hardwood floors, large windows and chandeliers. The room accommodates up to 80 guests for a seated dinner and up to 120 guests for a cocktail reception or ceremony.
What You Should Know
There is a rental fee for a ceremony and reception, with 14 hours of event, set up and clean up time included. Set up time starts at 10 a.m. and weddings must end by midnight. A bride's dressing area is complimentary and a groom's dressing area is available for an additional fee. Tables and chairs, including Chiavari chairs, a ceremony arch and silverware and glassware are provided. There is a dance area and a piano is available for an additional fee.
Catering is done by an outside vendor which couples choose from a list of preferred caterers. A prep kitchen is available in the mansion. Alcohol must be provided by the inn. A day of on-site manager keeps the wedding running smoothly. Couples may decorate the reception area and biodegradable throwables are allowed. A large parking lot provides convenient access to the inn.
Newlyweds and wedding guests are welcome to stay overnight in one of the mansion's 17 rooms, including standard, deluxe and presidential guest rooms. Well-appointed rooms feature hardwood floors, fireplaces and neutral color schemes. There are also comfortable lounge areas where guests can mingle. The pet-friendly inn has three rooms with direct access to the outside.
The inn is close to Cornish Windsor Bridge, a vintage wooden covered bridge, the longest in North America and the Saint-Gaudens National Park and Historic Site. The inn is also close to Artisan Park, which includes Harpoon Brewery, Simon Pearce, Silo Distillery and more.
