After a serendipitous meeting in a coat check line and two years of dating Jim and Stephanie got engaged at the Grand Canyon. For their wedding, the couple chose another scenic spot a few hours from their home in New York City. “Being from different countries, we were contemplating between Singapore and London - however since the bulk of our friends are in NYC we decided it had to be within the vicinity. We knew we wanted a Summer wedding at a venue near the beach so we checked out several places on Long Island and the Hamptons. When we saw 'Oceanbleu - Westhampton Bath & Tennis', we were hooked!” says Stephanie. Stephanie and Jim played up the romantic beach setting with a pastel blue color palette and seashell details to create a "Hamptons meets Mediterranean" vibe. They also incorporated nods to their cultural heritages (Stephanie is Chinese and Jim is from the UK) with Chinois vases, paper lanterns, a rickshaw ride to the ceremony and the Union Jack flag. For the reception, Stephanie and Jim amped up the fun-factor and gave the party a sense of humor with party props like a blow-up palm tree and photo booth cardboard cutouts. The night ended with a beach bonfire and danced all night to eukelele music.

“My mom always told me ‘You can choose any wedding dress except a strapless one.’ Fine!,” says Stephanie. So she followed her mother’s wishes and chose a fit-and-flare backless Pnina Tornai (with sleeves!). “What really sold me was the lace detailing at the back, beautifully cut - and started and ended at the right places. My veil was a matching lace Cathedral length. I was going for some drama!” says Stephanie.
Romantic Glam Bridal Attire
Stephanie chose a bouquet of pale blue and yellow flowers, which fit perfectly with the whimsical beach vibe of their wedding. “My mother said no white flowers because of superstition,” says Stephanie. The bouquets were tied with lace ribbon.
Rose Gold and Silver Wedding Bands
For the bridesmaid dresses, Stephanie chose a mismatched look. Each bridesmaid wore an Alice + Olivia dress in shades of peach, lime and blue. The groomsmen also kept it be achy in tan J.Crew vests and pants.

As a nod to Stephanie’s Chinese heritage the couple arrived at their cocktail hour in rickshaws decorated in ivory flowers and a “Just Married” sign and carried paper umbrellas.
Instead of traditional table names, Stephanie and Jim stuck with the beach theme and named their tables after islands they’d visited and sat guests at tables that had meaning to them.
The reception was decorated in soft blues and whites including a few Chinois printed vases and mini pots that lined the entrance way and for the center pieces. “I wanted my Father's Chinese heritage to be incorporated into the Beach scene without getting overwhelming,” says Stephanie.
Grape Leaf Appetizers
Stephanie and Jim kept the table decor simple and beach-themed with natural driftwood covered in succulents and finished it off with a few glass votive candle holders.
The couple kicked up the reception with a choreographed first dance to “You’re The One That I Want” form Grease. “We miraculously didn't fall on our faces- so much fun!” The DJ followed up the first dance with “I Love It” by Icono Pop to get the party going.
