It’s not always easy to pull off a red and white palette, but Ashley Norman (25 and a student) and Will Norman (25 and a firefighter) used it in a simple way that we love. “According to Will, the theme was ‘Ashley’s Pinterest favorites,’ " Ashley says. Their day started with a sweet ceremony in front of Bristow Manor Golf Club as each bridesmaid walked down the aisle in a short, red satin dress covered in ruche detailing. Ashley’s dress, however, was our favorite. She wore an elegant, strapless, white mermaid-style wedding dress with an organza trim and delicate embroidery. (One of her father’s detective patches was even sewn inside the dress for a personal touch.) Once she and Will said “I do,” the celebration moved inside for a fun reception. The Flower Box arranged red and white hydrangeas in low centerpieces, as DIY monogrammed bottles topped with burlap flowers accented the rest. Each was set on a wooden base to match the sweetheart table’s wooden “Mr. & Mrs.” centerpiece and the wedding cake topper. Edibles Incredible Desserts placed twin wooden hearts on the confection as each red velvet layer with covered with ivory icing, swirl piped designs and a red ribbon. While Ashley and Will were worried about not being big dancers, their DJ from One & Done Events kept the party going until the end. Mathy Shoots People captured every moment, below. For future newlyweds, Ashley says to focus on the big picture: “Don't stress about making all the little details perfect. Crafting was fun, but decorating over 100 votives probably wasn't necessary.”

Ashley and Will added a personal touch to almost every aspect of their wedding, including the invitations. Each white note was made with materials from Michaels. Their save-the-dates also included photos from their engagement shoot.
Each bridesmaid brought out Ashley and Will's bold wedding color in a short one-shoulder or scoop-neck dress accented with ruche detailing. L Six Hair And Design finished their looks with updo hairstyles, and the Flower Box arranged bouquets of white gerbera daisies and red carnations to go with the dresses.
A few days before Christmas, Will surprised Ashley and put his proposal on her gift: a heart-shape ornament. "It was the best Christmas ever," she says. On their wedding day, Ashley paired her round diamond engagement ring with a matching band lined with diamond baguettes.
The Flower Box had a little fun with Ashley and Will's red and white color scheme. Each row of white folding chairs was marked with brighter hanging arrangements of white, pink and yellow chrysanthemums in clear-glass vases.
“Will hates dressing up, so we ditched the tuxedo jackets," Ashley says. "Instead, the groomsmen wore vests with the sleeves rolled up to match Will’s style." Will stood out, wearing a white blazer, white shirt and white tie to go with black tuxedo pants from Men's Wearhouse.
Personal photos in distressed wood, black and white frames surrounded Ashley and Will's reception space. During dinner, they added a few more photos to the mix. “We took a picture with each table as they were called up to get in line for food, to make sure we got a picture with everyone,” Ashley says.
Ashley made a few accents for their wedding, including DIY white monogrammed bottle centerpieces topped with burlap flowers and set on wooden stands. For a sweet touch, she surrounded some of the accents with tealight candles that were personally wrapped with burlap.
For the reception, the Flower Box used Ashley and Will's wedding colors with a few simple touches. Some tables were met with a funky red and white hydrangea centerpiece as burlap-wrapped votives and red napkins circled its base.

Ashley and Will's wedding cake could not have fit their red and white color scheme better. Edibles Incredible Desserts baked the three-tier red velvet confection and covered each ivory tier with red ribbon along the base. To incorporate Will's profession, they even cut the cake with a red firefighter's ax. It didn't end there. For those with a sweet tooth, Ashley and Will also had an ice cream bar.
