A "Batman"-Inspired Wedding at Warner Brothers Studio in Hollywood, California

Stefania Mitrano (36 and an e-book production manager at Pearson Education) met Derek Asaff (37 and a screenwriter) met on Match.com in 2009—“when online dating was still embarrassing,” Stefania says. “He found me, sent me a wink and boom—three months later we were living together.” The two celebrated their love of cinema and superheroes with a Hollywood meets sophisticated Gotham City gala on the Warner Brothers Studio lot. Aubergine was the primary event tone with hints of onyx, charcoal and pewter. After a ceremony at a lush on-set garden, butlers guided the couple’s 88 guests to the open-air reception, located amid brownstone buildings on the studio lot. “We wanted to give our guests a truly authentic Hollywood experience,” says Stefania, who has straightforward advice for other couples. “There are no rules to weddings. If you don’t want speeches, skip them. If you don’t want to toss the bouquet, don’t. Basically, don’t feel obligated to run through a wedding checklist if they aren’t your style. It’s your day; make it your own.” —Carolyn Meers
