A Beach Chic Wedding at The Postcard Inn Beach Resort and Marina in Islamorada, Florida
The typical fall wedding might include vibrant foliage and a palette of rich autumnal hues, but Kari Royer (27 and a telecommunications sales manager) and Clayton Dickehut’s (27 and a concrete construction president) late October affair drew its inspiration from Islamorada, Florida’s sandy beaches and sparkling blue waters.
Gathering together their closest family members and friends, the couple pulled off a beach chic soiree right on the water Kari and Clayton exchanged vows with their toes in the sand, with swaying palm trees and an understated wedding arch draped in airy white fabric overhead.
After saying “I do,” the newlyweds and their intimate group of guests celebrated in style at the Postcard Inn’s Beach Pavillion. The thatched roof and stunning views set the tone for the rest of the decor, with seashells, starfish and bright blue lanterns topping each table and playing up the beach-inspired theme. Paper lanterns in shades of sea green and white lent a playful feel to the dance floor, while strands of fairylights amped the ambiance, casting a warm, romantic glow over the open-air space.
Even the menu showcased the locale, with decadent eats like conch fritters with Cajun remoulade, crab cakes, pan-seared mahi-mahi and key lime cake pleasing even the pickiest of palettes. “Our reception was really our favorite part of the evening,” says Kari. “We were able to have a great time and share the moment with our closes friends. There was lots of laughing, dancing and fun!”
