Nicole Tarantino and Bren Taylor gathered their family and friends in their home of Marco Island, Florida, for a relaxed beach-themed bash overlooking the sparkling blue Gulf of Mexico. The couple borrowed heavily from the striking natural setting to infuse the day with plenty of seaside appeal. With a palette of pink, teal and neutral hues and a driftwood wedding arch that framed Nicole and Bren as they said their “I dos,” guests were immersed in the beauty of Marco Island. Further elevating the beach theme were coral, seashells, sea fans and driftwood piled high along rustic wooden farm tables, with flickering ivory pillar candles laid in between. “Everything made the setting feel warm and intimate—exactly what we wanted,” Nicole says. The pair took advantage of the venue’s beachfront location with a ceremony in the sand and cocktails on the terrace. Fresh, local seafood was, of course, the star of the menu. “We added an extra course between salad and the entree for lobster ravioli. It's one of Bren’s favorites, and since the chef was from Naples, Italy, it was one his specialties,” Nicole says. A live band, Girl Meets Boy, provided the tunes for the fun-filled soiree, rolling out plenty of classic party jams to get guests on their feet. A close family friend, a drummer for a 1980s rock band, even made a surprise cameo with the band during the last song. Nicole and Bren left no detail overlooked when it came to infusing their waterfront celebration with beachy flair. The pair housed their wedding rings in a glistening gold seashell ring box before they said "I do" along the shore.
Nicole’s bouquet exuded tropical flair with a bohemian twist, with a fresh mix of king proteas, orchids, amaranthus, scabiosas, garden roses, eucalyptus and ranunculus adding an element of drama to Nicole’s romantic bridal look.
Nicole’s down-the-aisle accessories paid tribute to the locale. The bride teamed her romantic mermaid-style Marisa gown with a pair of shimmery white starfish-accented pumps. “The shoes were inspired by Charlotte Olympia’s Sandrine Starfish shoe, which I had fallen in love with,” Nicole says. “They were way out of my price range, but my mom came to the rescue with a nearly identical lookalike.”
Nicole and Bren welcomed guests to their wedding weekend with beach-themed welcome bags that ensured they were well-equipped for a fun-filled stint on Marco Island, Florida. The bags were personalized with a mermaid and bearded pirate and were filled with the couple’s favorite snacks, mini bottles of prosecco, sunglasses and a few other beach essentials.
The couple gathered their friends and family along the shoreline for a short and sweet ceremony that focused on their love for each other. The outdoor ceremony at Marco Beach Ocean Resort in Marco Island, Florida, was accompanied by a steel drummer.
Nicole and Bren allowed the natural scenery take center stage for the ceremony, selecting simple decor that played up the casual, beachy feel at Marco Beach Ocean Resort in Marco Island, Florida. The soft sand aisle was lined with seashells, sea fans, driftwood, air plants and pale blue vases, leading to a striking driftwood arch adorned with air plants and ethereal white fabric.
Nicole and Bren encouraged their friends and family members to mix and mingle during the ceremony, with a rustic wooden sign placed at the entrance to the aisle.
While the soft white sand and sparkling waters of Marco Island were enough to make guests swoon, Nicole and Bren amped up the island getaway effect by lining the aisle with driftwood, sea fans, air plants and pale blue blown glass vases.
After the “I dos,” the newlyweds joined their guests for cocktail hour on the beach. Fresh seafood was featured prominently on the menu, paying tribute to the waterfront setting. A raw bar loaded with jumbo shrimp, oysters and crab claws was a particular hit, as were the lobster ravioli the couple managed to sneak in between the salad and entree courses. “It is one of Bren’s favorites and since the chef is from Naples, Italy, it is one his specialties,” Nicole says.
While the centerpieces fully embodied the beach-chic theme, the place settings themselves took on a more understated tone. Antiqued white dinnerware and linens gave way to hand-lettered menu cards bearing the names of each guest and a wax “T” seal.
“My family is in the cigar business, so we had a cigar lounge area—opposite the bar—with big leather furniture and a selection of cigars,” Nicole says.
Nicole and Bren placed a kissing jar on the guest book table. After slipping a dollar into the jar, guests rang the bell, signaling the newlyweds to steal a kiss.
“It may have looked simple on the outside, with spackled buttercream and sugar seashells, but inside were two amazing flavors—marbled chocolate sea salt caramel and classic white with guava for a fresh option,” Nicole says. The pair completed the sea-inspired cake with a custom mermaid cake topper for a punch of extra panache.
