Jessica (Jess) Novosel (31 and a social worker) and Michael (Mike) Zizik (30 and an architect) met through on a blind date  and became engaged on a trip to Hawaii. Mike got down on one knee at the airport. "To this day, Jess has no idea what Mike said to her. She thought Mike found the ring on the floor and wanted to find the owner right away," says Jess. In just under a year, the couple planned their Betsey Johnson-themed wedding. As Jess is from New Orleans and Mike went to college in the area, they decided to have their wedding in at the Civic Theater. A teal, poppy and gold color palette was inspired by a pair of Betsey Johnson earrings. "Sparkle was added where appropriate," says Jess. The couple accented their traditional ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church with pink rosette framed photos along the aisle and colorful arrangements behind the altar. After Jess and Mike said "I do," the couple and their guests went to the Civic Theater for a whimsical celebration. Purple uplighting was cast over the room. Each bright linen covered table was met with  balloons, lucite chairs and pomander accented branch centerpieces. "Mike and Jess wanted their guests to feel like they were in a Miami nightclub," she says. Keeping their New Orleans setting in mind, the couple chose a menu of local dishes including crawfish Monica pasta and cochon de lait (suckling pig). Guests enjoyed a night of dinner and dancing before Jess and Mike took their Rickshaw exit.

Jess complemented her wedding dress with blue peep-toe heels and a string of pearls.
