A Black-and-White Wedding at Overbrook Golf Club in Villanova, Pennsylvania

Kieran Neeson (27 and a research fund manager) and Tom Hyland (27 and an associate banker) wanted their wedding to be timeless. "My rule of thumb for choosing attire and decor for our wedding day was asking myself, 'Will this be in style 20 to 30 years from now? Does it look like something that could have been in style 30 years ago?' " Kieran says. With the help of Petah Bashano Event Design, the couple had a classic, black-and-white wedding at Overbrook Golf Club in Villanova, Pennsylvania, in the same ballroom where Kieran's parents celebrated their marriage. White flower arrangements of roses, ranunculus, lilies and hydrangeas wreathed candles on every dining table, and the crystal chandeliers were decorated with white hydrangeas and greens. Tom and his groomsmen wore traditional black tuxedos and bow ties. Kieran herself looked stunning in a simple taffeta ball gown. And we loved the black bridesmaids dresses, which featured bold white chevron stripes. After enjoying an amazing variety of food catered by Overbrook Country Club, guests took to the dance floor with music by BVTLive! "We wanted our reception to be an incredible party," Kieran says. Alison Conklin Photography perfectly captured all of the black-and-white details at this event!

The bridesmaids carried simple bouquets of ivory garden roses with their black dresses. With their hair up in classic French twists, they accessorized simply with pearl stud earrings. This elegant look allowed their dresses to take center stage.
We love these unique bridesmaid dresses! Kieran's bridesmaids wore black floor-length dresses that featured graphic white chevron stripes and halter necklines. Together, the bridesmaids made a bold statement and added a modern edge to the classic wedding while still adhering to the black-and-white color palette.
In keeping with her timeless wedding style Kieran wore a simple, strapless silk taffeta ball gown by Romona Keveza. The dress didn’t have any embellishments other than the satin buttons that closed the bodice. Kieran also styled her hair simply, wearing it down with some curls.
The pews along the ceremony aisle were decorated with ivy and white roses tied with ivory ribbons. This simple touch was all that was needed to decorate the beautiful polished wood pews and warm wood-paneled church where Kieran and Tom were married.
For her traditional Catholic ceremony, Kieran wore a cathedral veil with lace trim that looked beautiful with her simple ball gown. The altar at the wood-paneled church was decorated with white flower arrangements of roses, ranunculus, hydrangeas and delphiniums.
The reception was held in the ballroom at Overbrook Golf Club. "The room where I got ready with my bridesmaids is the same room where my 16th-birthday party was held, and the ballroom our reception was held in is the same room where my parents had their wedding reception 37 years ago," Kieran says.
Instead of putting up flower chandeliers, Kieran and Tom decorated the crystal chandeliers at the Overbrook ballroom with garlands of white carnations, white hydrangeas and greenery. The flowers literally glowed as they hung above the party.
Flower arrangements made up of roses, ranunculus, hydrangeas and lilies filled silver pedestal vases with candles. As if that weren’t romantic enough, the centerpieces were surrounded by votive candles for a complete candlelit glow. These centerpieces looked pretty against the textured gold tablecloths on the dining tables.
The beautiful white cake, designed by Cake Art, featured ornate cascading cake flowers that resembled orchids, calla lilies and roses. Kieran and Tom also served an extensive variety of cookies, ice cream, coffee and espresso for dessert.
