Nicole Deister (32 and a landscape architect) and Josh Campbell (39 and a youth construction training manager) balanced The Guild’s industrial charm with patterned linens, copper accents and dramatic Hawaiian-inspired florals.

Nicole’s former home in Honolulu inspired the eclectic design, which included shibori linens, terrarium centerpieces and indigo bridesmaid dresses reminiscent of the Pacific Ocean. “Our floral designer dyed silk and linen fabric for our altar that we plan to pass down as a family heirloom,” Nicole says.

Given her love of flora and fauna, unique flowers were a must for Nicole, who carried a textured arrangement of pincushion proteas and hydrangeas.

Shortly after a Buddhist reverend pronounced them “partners for life,” the newlyweds walked back up the aisle to Queen’s “You’re My Best Friend” before attempting an exit in a vintage Cadillac. “The car overheated, but the driver was great and arranged for us to get picked up a ’57 Rolls-Royce,” Nicole says of the minor transportation snafu.

A bohemian braid was the perfect complement to Nicole’s embellished gown, which featured a subtle geometric print. When it came to shoes, comfort was key for the former dancer. So, a mid-reception swap was in order. “I surprised Josh with two pairs of navy sneakers so we could continue dancing,” she says.
