A Boho Indian Fusion Wedding at Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
Naina and Aaron have a knack for mixing old and new with ease. “Aaron and I wanted our wedding to reflect the blend of our cultures,” Naina says. “We wanted traditional but with some modern twists.” Case in point: Aaron entered the baraat in a red convertible. The couple chose Punjabi traditions for their prewedding events, but got creative with a shortened Hindu ceremony and Indian-Western-fusion food at the reception. One of the most eye-catching ways Naina and Aaron twisted tradition was with their mandap. “The arch was made out of an organic bark structure,” Naina says. “The amaranthus, garden roses, grasses and greenery helped it blend in with the museum’s grounds.” The pair topped their laser-cut invites with floral accents designed by an artist in New Delhi. Red ginger flowers and Ecuadorian roses added color to the décor. The most sentimental moment of the day came with the newlyweds’ first dance. “Our song was ‘For Your Precious Love’ by Otis Redding,” Naina says. “We knew this was the song early on—it was the only thing we were 100 percent certain on when wedding planning.”The couple got innovative when deciding on their cake—a fun hybrid of two different sweets. “We love macarons, so we chose a macaron tower topped with a buttercream cake,” Naina says.
