A Botanical, Industrial Wedding at the Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago, Illinois

Laura Metcalfe (33 and an interior designer) and Charlie Tribbett (33 and co-founder of Bolstr Inc.) used botanical prints and earthy shades of blue, green and gold to combine both modern and rustic vibes within the brick-lined walls of Chicago's Bridgeport Art Center. Khristian A. Howell’s “Fig Life” illustration drove the inspiration behind the day’s verdant design scheme. When it came time to say “I do,” Laura and Charlie sealed the deal in the venue’s sculpture garden before shifting the celebration to the center’s loft. Glass lanterns, brass containers and blue ceramic pots lined the ceremony aisle, while moss-and-blue-thistle-filled gilded geometric vessels topped tables at the reception. Hundreds of paint swatches served as an inventive escort card display that was later repurposed into a photo booth backdrop. With a fuss-free menu in mind, the newlyweds treated friends and family members to a guacamole bar, miniature tacos, bite-size grilled cheese and a decadent Snickerdoodle cake finished with cream cheese frosting. “We wanted the food and drink to be better than your average wedding experience,” Laura says.
