A Bright Backyard Summer Wedding at the Waterville Community Church in Waterville, Ohio
Alexa Hirschfeld (21 and a nurse) met Addison Hirschfeld (21 and a coach) when they began hanging out with the same group of friends in high school. They began dating and attended the University of Toledo together where they led Young Life, a Christian ministry they'd been involved in during high school. Five years later, Alexa was returning from her first day of nursing school when Addison suggested going to dinner. Instead, he drove her to his family's lake house and cooked a steak dinner before taking her for a sunset boat ride. When they returned, he made a bonfire and brought her a paper lantern to send off. As they lit the lantern, Addison proposed. The couple held their wedding at the church they've attended together for years, using the large field behind it to host their reception. The couple wanted to keep their wedding simple and comfortable so they decorated their outdoor tent in gray and yellow. The bright contrast against the neutral created a sunshine atmosphere with lemon candles and blossoming white flowers. Alexa and Addison wanted a dry wedding so instead of a bar, they provided a surplus of food during both the cocktail hour and reception. They catered barbecue including the classics like pulled pork and grilled chicken. At the end of the evening, guests gathered around the bride and groom and were able to participate in a paper lantern sendoff to celebrate Alexa and Addison's new life together.
