A Bright Boho Wedding at Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad, California

Caitlin Roberts and Nate Mencini’s Cinco de Mayo wedding was a relaxed and colorful affair. From Caitlin’s blue velvet platform shoes to strings of carnations in shades of red at the ceremony, each of the details from their wedding popped against the muted colors and natural elements at Leo Carrillo Ranch. The pair opted for a color palette in vibrant orange, red, blue and purple hues that paid tribute to their love of fall while staying true to the spring season. To avoid overshadowing the venue’s natural allure, Caitlin and Nate filled the day with simple, yet impactful decorative details. Macramé was a major component: Woven dreamcatchers hung from the tree that served as the backdrop for the ceremony and were featured in the seating chart display. Local, seasonal blooms in bright, cheerful hues infused the desert scene with vibrancy and a festive feel. “We didn’t want the spotlight to be on us the whole night, so we incorporated games and a photo booth to allow people to really immerse themselves in our day,” Caitlin says. A retro photo booth bus was set up outdoors and offered a fun way for the newlyweds and their guests to remember the night. After snapping a photo, guests wrote their well wishes to Caitlin and Nate on the back and tucked it into the couple’s guest book. In the weeks leading up to the big event, the duo took dance lessons to surprise their family and friends during their first dance. “Not to brag, but I feel like we slayed the dance floor. Just taking the classes brought us closer together, and it was a blast to try something new,” Caitlin says. “We kept it a secret, so a lot of people were surprised when we busted out our inner Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers.”
