A Bright Summer Wedding at the Fincastle Country Club in Bluefield, Virginia
Alysha Cornell (26 and a retail store manager) and Jeff Bailey (29 and a retail store manager) planned an intimate summer affair with West Virginia University flair for their late June wedding in Bluefield, Va. As a diehard WVU fan, a blue and gold color palette were must-have for Jeff, and with the soiree taking place outdoors, the vibrant hues were the perfect fit.
Conveniently located between their home and those of their family members and friends, Fincastle Country Club quickly won over Alysha and Jeff. The expansive lawn and beautifully groomed golf course offered a striking natural setting for the ceremony, while the Fincastle Ballroom served as an elegant backdrop for the evening’s festivities.
Alysha and Jeff exchanged vows under a lush shade tree, before a quaint white arbor decorated with cheerful yellow flowers. After saying “I do,” the couple made a whimsical exit in a horse drawn carriage and arrived at the country club in style for the reception. The blue and gold theme was woven throughout with bouquets of bright yellow lilies and daisies bringing a pop of fresh color to the tabletops, while elegant navy ribbons and linens added a note of sophistication to the decor.
“We tried to make the day as light and fun as we could,” says Alysha. “Jeff and I are laid-back people who just enjoy having a great time and laughing often.” The evening was full of lighthearted entertainment with Alysha’s father — the lead singer of a Journey tribute band — giving a surprise performance of “Don’t Stop Believin’,” as well as a few sweet treats. “We spent the nigh dancing and singing along to our favorite songs and we sent everyone home with chocolate chunk cookies from Buckeye Bakery in my hometown.”
