A Bright Vintage Glam Wedding at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, California
Amanda Nevelo (32 and a fashion trend forecaster) and Cody Debacker (27 and a director of sales and marketing) planned a fun, vintage-glam affair for their mid-September wedding in Palm Springs, Calif. Every element of the day reflected the couple’s playful personalities, from the spectrum of bright pink, yellow, turquoise and red hues, to the Polaroid guestbook and unexpected, but totally delicious menu. The Ace Hotel provided the ultimate backdrop for the both the ceremony and reception, with cool modern design and breathtaking mountain scenery. “The mountain backdrop, mixed with the glow of Palm Springs was so peaceful and romantic,” says Amanda.
Taking advantage of the venue’s unique outdoor spaces and the surrounding natural scenery, the pair kicked off the day with an outdoor ceremony. Amanda and Cody exchanged vows they’d written themselves under a garland of vibrant paper flowers, then made their way to the reception as guests serenaded them the celebratory sounds noisemakers and tambourines, which they’d placed on each seat.
The Ace Hotel Commune, a 3,000-foot event space, played host to the reception and provided and intimate, party-perfect setting for all of the evening’s festivities. Sequined chevron table runners, arrangements of bold blooms and strings of fairy lights set a festive tone for the indoor-outdoor affair, while details like art decor prints, antiqued playing card table numbers and stationery bearing charming old world-inspired fonts injected an air of vintage flair to the decor. Good food, great music and non-stop entertainment were major priorities for Amanda and Cody, who wanted to create a fun, lively and unforgettable party for their guests. Buffet-style tacos and a dessert bar kept even the pickiest of palates happy all night long and DJ Dirty Dave got everyone out on the dance floor all night long. When guests needed to rest their dancing feet, there was a roaring fire where they could make s’mores and a photo booth perfect for striking a pose.
A tip for the taking from Amanda and Cody: “No matter how many times you hear it from other couples and don’t believe it, the day goes by so fast! You don’t care about the things you thought you would or notice the things you thought you would. Start planning early so you can relax closer to the date .Create an atmosphere from your heart. What mattered most to us was music, lighting and great food. We wanted to throw a party! And use Etsy for every idea you have; they have it all.”
