A Camp-Inspired Wedding at High Hampton Inn & Country Club in Cashiers, North Carolina

Embracing their laid-back personalities, Alice Dixon (31 and a VP of sales) and Scott Weston (29 and a commercial real estate appraiser and broker) threw a summer-camp-inspired wedding in North Carolina’s beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. “We knew we wanted to be somewhere beautiful in the mountains, surrounded by all our family and friends,” Alice says. “When we found High Hampton Inn, we were blown away. It met all our criteria. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and it had an adult summer-camp vibe that was exactly what we were looking for.” Friends and family traveled from around the country to celebrate the couple in Cashiers, North Carolina, where they relaxed, swam in the lake and played boccie and volleyball. “Almost everyone was able to stay on-site, which meant we got to spend the whole weekend with everyone instead of just one night,” Alice says. “On Friday we welcomed friends and family with a big party at the lake, followed by a relaxed rehearsal dinner of barbecue with all our guests.” On their wedding day, Alice and Scott exchanged love letters and then met by the lake for a romantic first look. With their sweet golden retriever standing by their side, the two exchanged vows with the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains as their backdrop. The couple kept ceremony decor simple with dahlia and hydrangea arrangements flanking the aisle, allowing Mother Nature to shine. After exchanging vows, friends and family joined the newlyweds for a celebratory cocktail hour. At the end of the cocktail hour, the brass section of their wedding band ATL Groove Factory showed up to escort the newlyweds and their guests to the nearby reception site. “New Orleans is home for us, so we incorporated a bit of Nola in the wedding,” Alice says. The newlyweds and their family and friends spent the evening feasting on delicious fare and dancing the night away before heading to a cabin for a fun after-party with friends. —Marissa Hermanson
