Rata Hojjat and Ken Thomas had a simple, no-frills wedding ceremony at New York City Hall with their closest family and friends. "Besides a few words from the poet Rumi, we decided not to incorporate traditional Persian wedding elements from my roots, or anything from Ken's Southern roots," Rata says. Instead, they were inspired by the culture of downtown New York City for their intimate affair. Ken donned a simple navy suit with a pink tie, while Rata wore an elegant white jumpsuit with bell sleeves. She accessorized with a crown of leaves and succulents, which matched her vintage 1960s-inspired bouquet. "It was super special and fun for everyone to be in the courthouse together. It was busy and the energy was incredible, being among other New Yorkers who were all collectively experiencing a special day together," Rata says. Guests gave the couple a confetti exit after the ceremony, and then they attended a rooftop reception overlooking New York City. Rata changed into a blue satin jumpsuit, and Ken tossed his suit jacket aside for a casual, relaxed celebration.
