A Casual, Fun Wedding at House Mountain Inn in Lexington, Virginia
Chris Werner (27, technical recruiter) found Alyssa Flora (27, information analyst) on Match.com. Chris says he was "blown away" by her profile, so he decided to email her. Emails led to endless dates, watching the trains whiz past as the couple made excuses to stay and talk a little longer. They dated for two years before Chris popped the question by challenging Alyssa to find an ornament on their Christmas tree to get an extra Christmas present. The extra Christmas present was a mug that read "Keep Calm and Say I Do" with an engagement ring inside it. Chris and Alyssa's casual mountaintop wedding was filled with laughter and fun. They chose House Mountain Inn in Lexington, Virginia as the venue for their wedding. "We wanted to find a venue that would allow us to spend the entire weekend with close family and friends instead of limiting our wedding fun to a single day," says Alyssa. They held their ceremony outdoors under a pergola, and fortunately the rain held off long enough for Chris and Alyssa to say their vows. The following reception was indoors in a beautiful hall with cedar walls, exposed beams and chandeliers. Chris and Alyssa's color palette incorporated their favorite colors, orange, teal and gray. To contrast with their bold colors, they chose light and airy flowers like ivory peonies, white hydrangeas and baby's breath with a pop of orange roses. Alyssa wore a lace sheath wedding dress with a long train and a sweetheart neckline from David's Bridal. Her bridesmaids wore knee length teal dresses with different necklines from Ann Taylor. The groomsmen and Chris wore jeans to match with the wedding's casual vibe. The groomsmen wore gray vests, striped blue ties and orange rose boutonnieres for their laid-back ensembles while Chris wore a gray blazer, orange plaid tie and white rose boutonniere. Their festivities ended with a surprise song by Chris, who serenaded Alyssa on their first date.
