A Casual, Modern Wedding at Ruby Watchco Restaurant in Toronto, Ontario
Karen Goora (an advertising dialogue director) and Kate Fried (an advertising executive producer) wanted to keep their wedding casual, elegant and simple. The couple let the style of the south of France and the color white inform the look of their entire day, with white candles, flowers and suits ("We asked everyone to wear white to the wedding," Karen says), while rustic touches like lavender and mason jars rounded out their theme. The couple exchanged vows on the rooftop of the loft where they live, followed by a cocktail hour with fresh flavored mint-and-blueberry and cucumber water, lavender-sugar fruit salads in mason jars and caprese skewers. The reception was held at the Ruby Watchco Restaurant in Toronto. Small centerpiece arrangements of white hydrangeas by Kat Nelson were surrounded by mason jar and white lantern candles for the tables where everyone enjoyed a dinner of summer salad, slow roasted strip loin with short rib gravy, corn on the cob and cheddar and chive biscuits. "We both tried to focus on remembering that the day was about our love and tried to keep the planning light and easy. The day goes by so fast, so make sure you take lots of moments to just stop and look at each other and take it all in; enjoy being surrounded by all the people you love and each other!" Karen says.
