Abby Liden, 28, a personal trainer, and Ian Edwards, 30, works in a sports retail store, met at a resort in Colorado. Abby had gone on a ski trip, and Ian was working, greeting guests outside. They started talking about skiing and their love for Colorado and hit it off. “The proposal itself reflected our relationship,” Abby says. “Laid back, genuine and heartfelt. We were having dinner at our favorite restaurant in Denver, and as I was reaching for me coat behind my seat at the end of the evening, I looked back up to see Ian holding out a beautiful ring. He asked me if I would marry him, and I said, ‘Of course!’” The couple wanted a relaxed, casual, natural vibe for their wedding. They exchanged vows on a secluded terrace surrounded by Aspen trees, followed by a rustic indoor reception overlooking Denver. They used shades of white, gray and brown accented with shades of orange, purple and green. Burlap details, as bouquet wraps and flower girl baskets, added a little rustic flair.

The casual reception was inside the Pines at Genesee event building. They paired white table linens with brown napkins and small centerpieces for a simple, rustic feel. “The lower level floor had a Colorado vibe, with its dark wood floors, large fire place and view of Denver through the large east-facing windows,” Abby says.
Elegant black calligraphy was done on simple brown paper, which was cut and folded, for the table numbers.
Photos of the couple’s late family members were presented in loving memory at the reception.
Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Abby, Ian and their guests enjoyed fresh fruit pie, including vegan and gluten-free options.
