A Casual, Southern Wedding at Margaret Wesley Park in Lake Mary, Florida

Between the custom ceremony and hand-picked vintage accents, Haylee Moffis (19 and a receptionist) and Nigel Ellis’s (20 and in the U.S. Coast Guard) southern wedding was filled with personal flair. The started their day with a sweet ceremony at Margaret Wesley Park in the same spot they visited in high school. “We used to joke about getting married under that arch one day, and it turns out our young vision became reality!” says Haylee. Vintage-style lanterns and three red rugs lined the aisle as Haylee walked up with a lush garden bouquet designed by Country Club Flower Shop.  The overflowing arrangement was filled with seeded eucalyptus, greenery, orange hypericum berries, pink roses, white tulips and pink alstroemeria. Each bloom that complemented her short, floral lace wedding dress by Ralph Lauren. When she reached the altar space, it was covered with porcelain blue and white birds, a silver watering and rustic crates. Each accent was personally collected from local thrift shops by Haylee and her mother. For the service,  couple completed a custom unity tradition where they mixed iced tea and lemonade in the same glass and sipped from two straws. Afterward, their celebration moved a few steps to the side for an intimate reception. Baked by Cupcake Crazy, the couple’s two-tier wedding cake stood out among tiers of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Each layer was covered in an intricate ivory, ruffled design as orange hypericum berries and baby’s breath covered the top. Jessica Connery Photography captured every sweet detail of the day below. Haylee shares a tip: “If there are components of a traditional wedding you aren't really comfortable with, leave them out! We only had about 50 guests, my mom walked me down the aisle and we didn't have a bridal party. How's that for non-traditional?”
